Who all survived the Battle of Yavin? I know Vader survived, as did Luke, Han, and Wedge. However, the movie clearly shows two x-wings, the Millenium Falcon, and a Y-wing? Who's in the Y-Wing?:?

Keyan Farlander was the Y-Wing pilot.

I thought Commander Narra was the Y-wing pilot Rouge8? Maybe I'm wrong but I've always been under that impression. Farlander flew X-wings did he not?

Also check out the Star Wars Technical Commentaries for info on some other Imperials that survived the destruction of the Death Star... "chief" among them being Chief Bast (yes, pun intended. :D )

Rogue8, Nova, have you got documentation to back any of that up? I'm also interested in knowing... I seem to have had a lot of players who want to make a character who was "the Y-wing pilot who survived the Battle of Yavin." Some of them have good stories behind them, but most of the time, it would be nice to be able to say definitively, "No, so-and-so was the Y-wing pilot who survived the Battle of Yavin. Think again, and be creative this time."

I've always thought that judging the surviving rebel pilots by the ships shown in that shot is a bit short-sighted. First off, surely one of the X-wings can't be Wedge since he pulled out five minutes earlier. Second, if Wedge got out early, there may be other rebel pilots who did the same. But I suppose that's a bit of an academic discussion since it's impossible to tell, it just means that there's no problem having a rebel pilot rp character who survived the battle.

Actually, I seem to remember the Incredible Cross sections book saying the three Y-Wings that had working ion cannons at Yavin were the only three that survived the battle, but I don't have the book with me so I can't check it out.

I seem to remember reading that two about the BTL-A4 two-seaters.

On the other hand, I've always appreciated the 90% casualty rate inflicted on the brave Rebel pilots...

And maybe it was Wedge's X-wing. Luke could have caught up with him due to the damage to Wedge's X-wing. Or here's a better thought. Wedge said heck with it, I'm making run anyway, and had turned BACK around despite the damage to his ship. Unfortunately, no EU material backs up that supposition.

The only other rumor I heard about "that Y-wing pilot" was a that certain Ewok, Kettch, was already terrorizing Imperial pilots.B)

Star Wars Insider 57 says Keyan Farlander was the sole surving Y-Wing pilot from the Death Star. In the other books (can't remeber where) I saw it as Commander Narra.

Commander Narra.

Commander Narra was killed at the Battle of Derra IV, when his squadron of X-Wings, who were escorting a convoy of rebel transport ships to Hoth, were jumped by an entire wing of TIE Fighters (about 72 of them). There were no survivors.

The character Commander Narra was made for the "SW Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back" radio drama way back in the 80s I believe. It is on the first tape "Freedom's Winter" and it is awesome.

I would advise anyone who is a Star Wars fan to get this tape collection as well as the first one "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" as well because they are beautiful. The Radio drama for Return of the Jedi just isn't that good and seems rushed to me.

Keyan Farlander, a character made for the PC game X-WING is the pilot of the Y-Wing in ANH, it is an EU character and you can do with it all you want.

I heard if you look really really closely you can see an ewok in one of the starfighters.

Janson: Are you serious? Or are you just yanking our chain like your namesake would ;)? If it's true, I think it's one of those things we'll have to ask the trivia buffs about (Vixen of Venus and Flipdog for instance)...

Another survivor of the Battle of Yavin was, Qorl, from the Young Jedi Knights books.

I had forgotten about this character. He was a TIE Fighter pilot in Black Squadron and became a hermit on Yavin after he crashed. He made a brief, but cool appearance in Edge of Victory I: Conquest in the New Jedi Order.

Nice memory there Wedge! ;)

Of course if all the roleplay characters who claimed to have survived the battle of Yavin were in the air in the film it would have been pretty crowded up there, almost as crowded as the cantina in Mos Eisley if all the characters who were there in roleplaying games were actually there. I was involved in a game where we were at the battle of Yavin but because there was no fighters ready to fly left by the time we got there we did the catering for the big celebration. lol :D
