For anyone up right now -- 2:10am EST -- you can feel free to head on over. I just flipped the switch on it, and the issue is up for your perusal.

A special thanks from ME to Axius who has worked his ass off in so many regards and to the entire Journal staff who, again, has provided us with an amazing publication.

Superb work as usual. The only thing I noticed is that in the .pdf version, on page 3, Derek's comic is so blurry that the words are unintelligable. Other than that, though, near perfect editing. Now to sit down and read through it. :)

5 April 2003, 03:16 PM
Cheers! I was wondering when someone would figure out how to convert PrCs. D6ers have been grumbling about that for a long time. ;)

I back Staailis comment that some of the art was a little pixelated (I'm sure Nafai could tell you that resizing stuff in the wrong format can do that), but my printer isn't hooked up, so I can't see what it looks like printed up yet. Soon...

Is it just coincidence that Dereks like working on the Online Journal?

Great work, as usual. But - how come the stories are always buried at the end? Seems like the Lonely Gamorrean would work much better as a back-page feature...

Anyway, great stuff, everyone! :D

Good work guys. I look forward to checking it out in greater depth as time allows.

I want to say that issue 3 is the best thus far! I want to compliment Dr. Worm on his excellent backstory and PrC for the Wookiees! The Masters of Daryyk Gar frighten me worse than anything the Yuuzhan Vong could send! 8o

Another excellent fanfic by Donovan and of course, the return of Urgkle! :D

Great job to the OJ staff and all those that contributed! B)

7 April 2003, 12:32 AM
Why thank you Nova, you make me blush like a high-born southern belle. Actully I agree, the PrC is highly specialized and is not likely to be highly used, but that backstory simply oozed from my fingers. One of my better inspirations set to paper.

For those that have considered submitting, and have not, you really should. The editors are great about working with you to iron out kinks and inconsistancies. I am sure they polished my submission up, but I cannot tell where. They are great about making edits feel like the voice of the author. This process has been so great, and it is such a boost to see something you wrote in this foum, that I am getting ready to make more submissions.

Long live the OJ ( choc full of Vitamine Cool)

HOLY!!! It's done. Praise the Lord!!!

so what's lined up for issue four? Do you still need a lot of material for it?

Loved the Wookiee PrCs Dr_Worm. I almost felt....bad for the stormtroopers.

Urgkle was great! Reminds me of our Luke/Leia jokes in our NR campaign...

8 April 2003, 01:38 PM
Well <b>LawgSkrak</b>, issue 4 is going to be chalk full of....... hehehehe, I guess you'll have to wait and see! It's going to be loaded with good stuff, that's all I'll give you right now! Sorry, but if I tell you, it'll ruin the surprise!

At any rate... Keep those submissions coming. Don't wait for me or some other OJ staffer to let you know we need some stuff. You wanna submit something, SUBMIT IT!!! Nothing really makes me happier than going and finding out someone else has submitted something new! I love it!

8 April 2003, 04:45 PM
Do you think it'll be finished faster than three was (although after reading 3, it was worth the wait)?

As you know, I have my own reasons for wanting to see Four as soon as possible ;)

Keep up the good work guys!

8 April 2003, 05:21 PM
Well I pulled up the journal right after I awoke and read the news and the first thing that came to my mind was: “24 MB! That’s almost 4 times as large as the second issue.” Incidentally I run off of a dial-up (live too far away from anything major to get a faster connection). So you can imagine that I started the download and had to wait for a while...

It was worth the wait and with all the superb artwork I can see why it is so big.

The Regulars were great as, well, they regularly are. Rogues Gallery has some good art that I will suggest to one of my players. The Spice Den makes the <I>Evil</I> GM in me come out every time I read a new idea. As in the last issue Urgkle of The Lonely Gammorean and the Star Slide elicited chuckles from me.

Prestige Classes... In the D6 system?:
Read the title and my first thought was: Evil D20 worshiping blasphemers! Then, feeling guilty, I read it, and I hmmmed and harrumphed and other words indicting deep thought. I finely decided that, not only was it a well thought out idea, but that I would let my players use a prestige class converted in this fashion if they wanted too.

Lords of Kashyyk: While I do not know the D20 system that well even I can clearly see something in this. That something would probably be best said by Minsk of Baulder’s Gate 2: “See Masters of Daryyk Gar, Boo. Run Boo! Run!” :)

Shockboxing Exposed: Boxing, Shocks, a Jedi needs not these things. But if a Jedi did need these things, well, this is one article he does not want to miss!
Wonderful write-up of the ins and outs of Shockboxing and I applaud.

Cadences: Keep on inspiring and handing out ideas, Donovan!

Finally we arrive to that awful no good dirty bad etc. Creatures of Corellia. What was that Ben fellow thinking! The only reason it comes close to being worthy of being in with the other masterpieces in issue 3 is the incredible artwork. :D

More seriously, I want to say a BIG thank you to the artists who worked on Creatures. I may have given words to the creatures, but they gave them <I>Life</I> and truly enhanced the article. Also thanks go out to the oft ignored Conversion Specialist, OverLord for without him, my article at least, would still be in D6.

Speaking of the article, I thought I would find out what planet that people wanted next. General area I want to do this in is the area between Fondor to Bakura. I was thinking of Tyffera, but if people want another planet I am game.

I also want to echo what Dr_Worm and others said and encourage people to submit, for the entire Journal Staff do an excellent job with your work. Also I would say that constructive comments are enormously appreciated. Since none of us are getting paid for this they (and the polished brilliance that Journal Staff add to each article) are our incentive to write more.

One of the things I did notice was that there were not any announcements of other boards yet, like theforce.net or WOTC boards...

Actually, I was hoping to get a look at the wildlife of Mon Calamari, Armadious, assuming you're up for it.

I know there's some in some of the old WEG sourcebooks, but by and large it's been kind of ignored. ;)

Ya know, I really got get subscribed to this bad boy ... hang on *scrambes off and subscribes* ... that's better.

This was definitely worth the wait. I agree with Nova there, Herr Doctor. The backstory on the Lords of Kashyyk was really good, and a well done on PrC too (a mite on the beefy side true, but still a job well done).

I'd just like to say that Jude Simon got himself a new fan. I really liked the way his drawings looked. Hopefully he'll be the same guy doing the art for Cadences Part III (makes subtle hand wave) :lukejedi:

The Creature Feature was interesting, but since so few of my games involve Corellia, I honestly didn't give it that deep of a read through. The d6 conversion of d20 PrCs was definitely interesting, and kudos to the authors.

All in all, glad to see the Online Journal is making a comeback, and am looking forward to seeing OJ#4.

9 April 2003, 07:22 PM
What with Donovan's great work with Cadences I was wondering if readers feel there is room for more than one fiction an issue? I have been working on a serial that I thought might be good for the format. However, if it would bog down the Journal, there are other places I can foist my work.

I have other stat related work, but nothing very polished.

9 April 2003, 07:46 PM
I just wanted to say thank you to you guys for your kind words on the Journal. I think the whole staff appreciates it - without a doubt.

As for more fan fiction, to date the reason for only one piece of fiction per issue has been the fact that, well, that's all we had to go with. I think this may begin to change, as we see more submissions of fiction come our way. So, Doc Worm, if you're working on something and you'd like to submit a piece, send it on! I know for a fact that several staff members would like to see more fiction in the Journal. :)

Scotty, you didn't say me that the OJ was released! :D
Well, excuse me, i didn't finished my contribution in time.

I hope that everyone will enjoy my contribution to Issue Four when it comes out.

Amen, Donovan! This was superb! And for the record, Judas has 2 new fans! It was a real thrill to actually see my namesake Jedi in action--not once, but twice! For those who don't know--I've be rather quiet on these boards lately--ZRissa Organa and Dantris Solomani were created by me as npc's in my game.
And thanks to Donovan for all the work on Cadences.

In fact thanks to everyone who contributed! I enjoyed it all, even the items I likely won't use for my game.

Axius & Scottyboy--you 2 are doing a great job heading this up! And yes I am working on several things to submit.

13 April 2003, 11:50 AM
Thank you all for the great comments. We want all the feedback that you can give us. It only stands to make all the issues to come even better!

There is no possible way that Axius and I could possibly even fathom taking credit for this. You guys are the ones that right it (see below signature line!)! Plus there are a lot of other people who contribute just as much as we do, if not more! Our man <b>"Baron" Bob</b>, for one. That man puts so much time and effort into everything he does, I can't even imagine where we'd be without him. And I still can't forget <b>Nafai</b>. Granted, he's not an active part of the staff right now. But if it wasn't for all the effort and shear genious that he put into this thing, we'd be lost. I've still got some pretty big shoes to fill! But I'm doing my best! Then there's <b>Darklighter</b>, <b>Hisham</b>, <b>Overlord</b> and our newest staff member <b>Reliant</b>. These guys are the real backbone of this "project." Without them, you guys would probably be lucky to see ONE issue per YEAR! I count myself lucky to be able to work with people like these guys!

I'm very glad that you all are happy with the issue! But, believe me, it doesn't end here! The next issue is going to be even better! And the issue following that will be better yet! It's our goal to make each and every issue exponentially better than the last! But we definitely need your support (and your submissions!!!)! So, keep 'em coming!

Take care all! And again, thank you for all the supportive comments.
