Hey all! This will be my first crack at an online GMing experience, so if youll get ticked off by the erring of a newbie online GM (i have 6-9 months of tabletop XP) dont join in :D

This will be a d20 play-by-post.

Heroes will be independents, no force users will be played. I'm only gonna take 4 players for the sake of my nerves, if this goes well, ill continue this adventure (its really short) giving the original players first crack at spots but including more open PC slots. SO! The first four people to reply back that they wanna play will become my guinea pigs...er...players! Anyway! If you have any questions, ask them, ill decide the first four by posts, not character submissions.

As far as designing characters first post a profile of your character, after i chek it out, ill give ya the go-ahead to make stats. When you do make those stats, start all abilities at 14. You can alter these as far as you want but the total attribute points must not exceed 85 (14 x 6 +1) The plus one is because you should make a 4th level hero. Anyway, thats all for now!

How often will we need to post character updates? I'd love to play, but I don't have a ton of time on my hands. I think I have enough to contribute meaningfully, but I can't post a new action every few hours. :)

Also, what era are you planning on playing in?

Post a hook! Post a hook! Post a hook! ;) Assuming the hook sounds good, I think I may participate.

Sorry, I was away over the weekend. Anyway, it will be set in the early Rebellion Era, PCs will be on the payroll of a hutt for the adventure, and you can find your hook as the attachment to the first post in the IC thread i just created (i would have posted it but the colors and the font and the tabs made my browser go goofy:rolleyes:

Anyway, the adventures not starting just yet, when it does though, it would be good if you could post once every day or two (in heavy combat, more than one post per day would be nice, but im not going to make it a must) just dont leave the rest of the group hanging for extended periods of time. Also, i probably wont be able to post much on the weekends so if you want to take the weekend off, by all means do so:)

Allright! Glad to have you, Crymoon:D

As i said before:

Also, i probably wont be able to post much on the weekends so if you want to take the weekend off, by all means do so

And yes, for all of you in the adventure, before you guys start posting in the IC thread or giving me stats, please, give a decent background of your character (post 'em here ;))

7 April 2003, 06:11 AM
OK, basically now all we're waiting for is either Ardent to confirm his position or Ardent to decline and us to get a new player.

Also, im gonna need all of your backgrounds. Im pretty lenient as far as options (although the 11-17 miner is questionable, Tossk!!!) After that, send me your stats and we're ready to rip!:D

Great. We have our team and now I'm looking forward to seeing three really good backstories! (I already got one;) ) Ardent, you can go ahead and PM me your stats, One thing i forgot to mention, while you can alter each ability, none can go lower than 6 or higher than 18. Thanks!

I actually wrote up this character for a campaign that flopped after the first adventure, but I wanted the chance to try this sort of character, so I retooled the background a bit to fit in with the hook. In any case, here goes.

Kole Liagri
Male Human from Coruscant

Born into the underworld of Coruscant, Kole grew up in a world where a good day was one in which he got enough to eat or a dry place to sleep. For the first fifteen years of his life, he had no idea of who his parents were and spent his days alone in the dark. His survival depended on his wits and on the temporary, cutthroat alliances he formed with the denizens of the lower levels of Coruscant. As he grew older, the desire for an identity led him to a search for his parents. He pieced together the puzzle over several years, with his hopes fueling him through times when the trail grew cold. But the deeper he dug back into his history, the more depressing and mundane it was. The illegitimate child of two midlevel Imperial bureaucrats, he was unwanted and abandoned. At the age of nineteen, Kole was without a future or a hope.

It was then that he met Kista Sunrider. The rebellious daughter of two upper class Coruscanti parents, she had wandered into the darker areas of Coruscant. Her carefree personality and modern fashion marked her as an outsider, and an easy target. Most beings in Kole’s position would have jumped on the opportunity to rob a rich sentient blind, but Kole’s developing (but confused) sense of morality prevented it. Instead, he tailed the girl, and sure enough, she was attacked by local thugs. With an element of surprise, Kole managed to drive off the would-be muggers. Kista was thrilled and horrified at the same time. Though the experience had been frightening, she had found the honorable scoundrel, a figure straight out of a holodrama. Much to her surprise, her knight insisted on getting her “back where she belonged” and away from him as soon as possible. An hour later, she was back at the doorstep of the apartment she shared with her parents.

And Kole went back to his home, deep in the bowels of the city/planet. But the cheer, cleaner air, and crisp, modern feel of the higher levels had sparked a drive to make a better life for himself. His parents (he associated that word less and less with them, with each passing day) would never pull him out, so he would do it himself. But a person does not easily become one of the elite beings who are privileged with a life free from hunger, disease, and squalor. Kole needed someone who could assist him in blending in, finding a job, and succeeding. So a week later, he found himself standing outside the apartment of the girl he had rejected.

Within a month, Kole had a low level job, new clothes, and a cultured accent. As the years passed, Kista grew from a rebellious teen to a responsible adult and Kole from a street kid to a young man making a decent living. Though their lives, routines, and circles of friends changed, Kista and Kole still made a point to talk at least once a day, sharing the little details of their relatively happy lives. And four years after he had met her, Kole found himself walking to her apartment, a potential engagement ring tucked into the pocket of the most formal set of clothes he owned. But when he arrived, the apartment was little more than a scorched shell of what it had been. The door had been blasted in and the flickering light of flames substituted smashed glowpanels. The buried memories from the street came back as he spotted the signs of high powered blasters and a brief struggle. Kista was nowhere to be found.

Kole reported the kidnapping to the Imperial authorities immediately. The investigation was promptly begun, only to be dropped less than a week later, the official Imperial communiqué citing “insufficient evidence to continue.” It was the word on the street that gave him the true answer. The attacker had been a bounty hunter who had worked for Lord Vader in the past, and to the Empire, a few civilian lives destroyed were worth the services of a highly skilled predator. Kista’s body was never found, and Kole half believed that she was still alive somewhere, no matter how illogical that thought was.

Kole quit his job and, for the first time in years, descended back to the underworld. But he would never find solace in his old life. He was jumped after the second day, leaving him bloodied and nearly naked in an alley. Determined to control his life, Kole spent the next year developing his ability to fight: learning to shoot modern weapons, understanding tactics, and mastering strategies for staying alive on a battlefield. He didn’t understand why he was possessed to learn such skills, the anger and cold apathy he felt seemed to serve little purpose, but his alternatives were a reminder of the wretched life of his early years or the memory of the loss of the only person who cared. So he studied and trained incessantly, making use of all of his contacts to gain access to training equipment, weapons, and books on strategy. After a time, Kole was what he would consider a competent fighter, but he found the feeling decidedly unsatisfying. Once again, his life had entered a rut, and he was lost as to how to get out of it.

Coruscant was no longer of interest to Kole; it was a dead end, a place where his life would sink quietly into oblivion. Kole spent the last of his credits and bought 3rd class transport as far away from Coruscant as he could find. The only true skills he had were in combat, so he had few illusions about the life he would lead. He would not enjoy being a gun for hire, but it would be a living—something Kole was becoming increasingly disillusioned about.

Oy, you leave be behind! no Elaneve, nother PC!;)

A son-of-a-bounty hunter, Tarkkhan has not been exactly the most upstanding of citizens. Insted of following in his footsteps, Baldan, his fater, had him say at gambling complexes to be tought the tricks of the trade by friends of Baldans. Most of his early life was spent smoozing and rubbing shoulders. In addition, he picked up a valuable perchant for games of chance. He has been leading a life of casinos and blasters for most of his 24 years of life. A stocky fellow, he is a well filled 125 kilos at 1.8 meters tall. His fiery-red hair is always slicked back and he tends to adorn himself in comfortable yet fashionable clothing that lends itself to hiding objects of desire. Over the years, he has developed into someone who can fix any unbecoming gabling debts and find the best place for some underground shockboxing to bet on. Recently, he has hired his services out abroad to increase his capital, which he hopes to eventaully build a small racket of gambling parlor dealing in 'controlled substances of recreation,' as he preferrs to call them.

Tarkkhan:
Human Scoundrel 4; Init +2 (Dex); Defense 15 (+3 class. +2 Dex); Spd 10 m;VP/WP 24/12; Atk +2 melee (1d3, unarmed) or +5 ranged (); Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +4; SZ M; Face/Reach 2 m by 2 m/2 m; Rep +4; Str 8, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 17, Cha 18.

Feats: Fame, Heroic Surge, Skill Emphasis (Bluff), Trick, Weapons Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, simple weapons).

Oh, and what to do about Credits?:( My equiptment will not be until i have a set ammount, don't want to mess it up!;)

I'm keeping this background decidedly vague because I still haven't decided on the character's true motivations...

Nethys Rhall

An ex-Imperial special operative, Nethys Rhall eventually grew tired of the male chauvanistic Imperial command, having been denied promotion after promotion simply for being female. Having served a brief stint with the Imperial Storm Commandos (a feat unto itself!) and being passed up for NCO rank by a greenhorn fresh out of Carida, Nethys abandoned her unit in the middle of a mission and departed for the Outer Rim to find work with a paramilitary or mercenary group.
Having finally tracked the Aurora Storm mercenary brigade to a remote Outer Rim planet, Nethys attempted to meet up with the group, but was cut off when a group of fringe trash started a lightfight with some backwater "Stormtroopers." Nethys, still seething from the promotion denial, decided to take some of her anger out on the poorly trained Stormtroopers, and came to the aid of the erstwhile band. The lightfight ended quickly, and Nethys found herself being dragged off with the band of strangers as they skittered for shelter.
Nethys laid low with the group for a bit, and when the issue of making some creds came up, Nethys decided she may as well tag along, since she was running low on funds. She could always find a mercenary group later.

Although Keedo was born on Rodia he quickly discovered that his true talents lie not in hunting aquisition but in hunting profits. Something drove him out of his home planet to Nar Shadda where he hoped to advance quickly in the ranks of some crime sindicate to earn both the money and the respect the everybody, so he thought, should show him.
But life wasn't that easy...
He found himself in a foreign city on a foreign planet with no idea what-so-ever how to begin his career.
He gambled in a few casinos to keep him alive and looked for some suitable job. After a few weeks he heard about an opening - one of lockal Hutt bosses needed a driver for one of his many transports. He didn't know why he took the job but later he said it was intuition. He drove a transport between many wearhouses until he heard as other drivers talked near him about a plan which would give them lots of money.. all they needed to do is go to a wearhouse on the outskirts of the city and take a load of crates which should be brought to a place in the city, but they all would be busy at the time the deal should be done, so argued about needing another driver. Keedo couldn't believe his ears but also something in his mind made "tick". He accepted to fetch the crates but in the evening he asked here and there and what he found out suprised him just a bit. They were trying to steal from their own boss and needed a dumb kid in case it didn't work... and indeed it didn't but the dumb kid got another job - the first step on the ladder of career. He become one of the ears and eyes of the Hutt.

Keedo:
Rodian Scoundrel 4; Init +3 (Dex); Defense 19 (+6 class. +2 Dex); Spd 10 m;VP/WP 23/12; Atk +3 melee (1d3, unarmed) or +6 ranged (); Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +4; SZ M; Face/Reach 2 m by 2 m/2 m; Rep +2; Str 10, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 14.

Equiptment:

Feats: Alertness, Skill Emphasis (Bluff), Persuasive, Trick, Weapons Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, simple weapons).

Can it be so?

Stats here. I'll have details on the armor when I dig up my Rebellion Era sourcebook and find the Storm Commando entry (the stats include its modifiers, though). Nethys isn't very open about her skills, however, and especially not about just how handy her armor is.

Nethys Rhall; Adult Female Human Scout 1/Soldier 3; Init +3 (Dex); Defense 17 (+3 Dex, +4 class); Spd 10m; VP/WP 39/14; Atk +6 ranged (3d6 or DC 15 stun, blaster pistol) or +6 ranged (3d8, blaster rifle) or +2 melee (1d3, unarmed); SQ none; SV Fort +6 Ref +5 Will +5; SZ M; FP 2; DSP 1; Rep +1; Str 10, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 13.
Equipment: Imperial Storm Commando armor (DR 5)*, BlasTech DL-17 blaster pistol, E-11 blaster rifle, utility belt, 200 credits.
Skills: Astrogate +5, Climb +1, Computer Use +5, Demolition +8, Hide +10, Jump +3, Knowledge (tactics) +7, Listen +9, Move Silently +10, Pilot +5, Profession (mercenary) +5, Repair +5, Search +9, Spot +9, Survival +8, Swim +2.
Feats: Armor Proficiencies (light, medium), Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Track, Weapon Group Proficiencies (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons).

* Stats reflect armor check penalty (-1) and the bonuses provided by the armor (+4 Hide and Move Silently, +2 Spot, Listen and Search).

Basically, simply choose a small variety of items that your PC would have. I want this to be more of a good PC interaction and fun game than a bookkeeping (sp?) and nitpicking one.

Also, you can have one 'special' item. That is, a signature weapon or a mastercraft item...something that may or may not be unique to your PC. While this item should be considerably cool, it should not unbalance the game. Basically, just post back here with a short post with its stats (for non-weapons, all you need is name, cost, weight, and effect)

Almost forgot, regular items dont need stat posting, just unique ones, I also have the A&EG so if you want stuff from it, thats fine too, just give its name;)

Darth Fury, sorry, im just not sure if i can handle too many people, this adventure is short, so if it goes well, ill continue it, throwing in spots for a few more people, thanks for showing interest:D

Adult Male Human, Fringer 1/Soldier 3; Init +8 (+4 Dex, +4 Bonus); Def 19 (+4 Dex, +5 Class); Spd 10m; VP/WP 35/16; Atk +4 melee (1d3+1, punch), +7 or +3/+3/+3 ranged (3d6, Blaster Pistol), +7 or +3/+3/+3 ranged (3d8, crit 19-20, Blaster Rifle); SQ Fringer bonus class skill (Balance); SV Fort +8, Ref +6, Will +2; SZ M; FP: 4; Rep: +1; Str 12, Dex 18, Con 16, Int 12, Wis 13, Cha 14.

Feats: Armor Proficiency (light), Improved Initiative, Multishot, Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Run, Weapons Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, primitive weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons)

Special Item: None, aside from the engagement ring he still carries with him. It has no effect (aside from making him even more emotionally unstable :)). I figured he was enough of a combat junkie as it is, without any help from mastercraft items.

Other than that, we'll reconvene here on monday (monday morning, EST for me). *cracks gavel down on desk* with that, this meeting is adjourned.

By the way, Crymoon, a hiatus is a break, or an absence. That's a good question though, i bet some people who were born speaking english dont know that one, and i bet it come from some other foreign word, probably either latin or greek. Anyway, now ya know what hiatus means:D

Ardent

Instead of a class, you have an observed time to study, or what ever you choose [within reason] for one class period of the day.

Then I have another linguist-wannabe question...
Why hall...?

Why not... hmm... study time... or maybe... alternative studing class..or sth like that...

Does 'hall' has any other meaning than I know of?... :)

Tossk

Probably some historical signifigance, like it might have been held in the halls, or there was a hall dedicated to studying, but every language is odd, like the meaning of "to have the dog" in French:D 8o

Avoir le chien? Hope i didnt just utter an expletive, but what does that mean? In my four years of French, I'm still not familiar with that one.

Anyway, I think Study Hall refers to colleges or old schools with multiple buildings. One was probably just reserved for students who just wanted a quiet place to study, thus, the study hall. This is, of course, all just speculation, but it does sound good, doesnt it?B)

My study halls are period 1 some days and period 4 everyday, theres no new post, a thousand pardons, but i had an eye doctor appointment yesterday and im getting contacts so my afternoon was taken up with that. In the evening i had to do my homework which i didnt finish and had to finish in first period study hall. 4th period i was investing in a stock thing for economics.

I promise ill have something for ya either tonight or tommorow morning (early) im sorry ive never had a rain day but im assuming it makes the HoloNet about as boring as it seems on a sick day.

By the way, I'm flattered that you capitalize my name, Tossk :D

Heh, a rain day...when I was in school we had to drive to school through a foot of unplowed snow...ah, my faithful, faithful truck.

Anyway, enough of my griping. Yeah, the HoloNet is fairly slow during the day, although it's kind of a hit-or-miss deal, sometimes it's wild, sometimes it's tame, it's very hard to guess when one will be true instead of the other.

It means "To be Sexy":D

Rain days are odd, i've had a few this year...

Anyway *shakes head vigorously* i got the new post up after an extended absence. This is a part of RPing that is decidedly more difficult than tabletop. I kinda hadta fill in some details about your character, Crymoon. If you or anyone else has a problem with this, tell me. Or if we get to such a part, you can PM me with the details and ill be sure to include them. Other than that, are there any comments thus far?

Crymoon

Sorry about not posting.

Thanks, but I meant Friday the 25th. So I'm already "back" so to speak. Of course, it is finals week, so you all can tell me whether my posts are coherent. :)

Sorry bout all the delay. Being grounded's a b****. Also the server at school (where ive been doing all of my recent posting from) was down all morning today. Starting May 1st (hopefully:rolleyes: ) ill get myself ungrounded with computer at home. After that, my campaign post rate should take a decent hike for the better. I just like to be too prepared and know exactly where I'm headed and I should learn that i do better winging it real-time. But hey, i think you'll ind this adventure fun once the pace picks up.

Again, sorry about inactivity,

So how 'bout it folks, any takers? Tossk, you have alot of online time and love to post. Ardent youre an experienced RPer. Jedi_Staailis you may want this, but this seems like a tough time for you with tests at school. If you think youre up to it, Post here, if nobody takes it up, ill run him, but if someone would like to, by all means take Keedo for a week.

30 April 2003, 12:48 PM
Actually, my last final is tomorrow, but I think I"ll have to pass anyway, because my online time will be erratic over the next week or so. I'll be in Atlanta, Houston, and Austin over the course of the week (and changing rooms here in Atlanta, to boot), and while I think I'll have time to post for my character, trying to take on another might not be the best idea.

Thanks again for bearing with me.
