Iíve been wondering about the start of the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness. I remember reading it was formed about 2000 years before the battle of Yavin. They were also very secretive, though not so much so as the Sith after Bane.

Is there any more information out there about the Sith 2000 years before Yavin and the origins of Brotherhood?

Iím thinking of running a campaign set in this time frame and I want to be consistent with whatís already been established.

Hey,

The only offical things about the brotherhood of darkness are the brief mensions in dark side sourcebook, I think the POTJ sourcebook, and the Jedi vs Sith comics. Thats it.

Not much is really known about the Brotherhood. All that is known is Bane is the only survivor, he also did not get along with the other Sith.

There is also a brief mention in the book Star Wars: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight by William C. Dietz and Dave Dorman. It's the third in a three-book series based on the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight (but not Jedi Outcast) computer games. ISBN 0-399-14452-8, if that helps you try to locate it.

Most information, offical speaking, is very sketchy. But, what everyone else said above me may give you some idea of what is going on. Though, the information may not go as far back as 2000 yrs BBY. Im guessing 2000 yrs BBY, was a time of growthe and peace for the republic, since little info is given about then, and since some people don't like reading about times of "boring" peace. Hope I help.

Thatís about what Iíve gathered about this era. This is also when PotJ says the Bortherhood formed in secret. While it may be remembered as a time of relative peace for the Republic considering the wars a thousand and two thousand years before (the Great Hyperspace War, the Sith War), and a thousand and two thousand years after (the Jedi Vs. Sith War, the Clone Wars/Galactic Civil War), this may be misleading.

Most Americans regard the last decade as a time of peace, yet there were more wars in between 1990 and 2000 then in the last 90 years combined, and the US was in several of them. 2000 BBY may be remembered as a time of peace and expansion, but expansion would not have come with out conflict. There were no doubt many small conflicts between the Republic and independent systems and political entities.

As the Republic consolidated itís power those systems who had chose not to join for whatever reason would suddenly find themselves left out in the cold. With the Republic controlling major hyperspace routes, and the non-Republic systems nearest neighbors members of the Republic, trade tariffs and customs taxs would have stifled their economies. Soon these systems would grow to resent the Republic and it wouldnít be long before those systems with the resources to challenge the Republic would have done so.

The campaign Iím developing deals with the effects of this as a bloc of Independent systems stakes a claim to a nearby hyperspace route interdicting it. Through the players actions in the opening adventures it becomes clear that the goal of the astrographically disparate systems is to provoke the Republic in to firing the first shot, giving them a valid pretext to invade the Republic systems separating their own and consolidate their power.

Of course some how the Sith are behind it.

The end result is not a war on the scale of the Sith War or the Clone Wars, and it would be remembered more as a regional dispute then anything else. It seems like it would be a fitting origin for the Brotherhood of Darkness.

Another good source for info on the "New Sith Brotherhood of Darkness" is the Essential Chronology . It covers the history of the galaxy from its beginnings through up to EP1, and then, from the rebellion to the just before the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.. Also, there was a 2000 year gap between the Great Sith War and the rise of the Brotherhood of Darkness, not 1000, And the Great Hypersace War was thus 3000 years prior to the order's formation. remember, these two wars take place 4000BBY and 5000BBY respectively. You do the math:D :D :D
