View Full Version : Sith Battle Droids

In my upcomming campaign, I plan to have an evil tech specialist find an ancient Sith Holocron (before the great sith war by the way) and start constructing Sith Battle Droids. The Tech Specialist has also become demented along the way by the evil force residing within the holocron. He has developed a super chip that can be placed in any droid causing the droid to go pscho and start killing its masters. My players will be Jedi padawans of the Watcher of this particular planet and go to investigate.

My problem is that I have no idea about what a Sith Battle Droid might look like or what kind of stats (d20 please) it might have. I'm thinking a Thug with maybe 5 or 6 levels, blasters, Large size, highly mobile, martial programming but that is purely speculative.

One idea I had was to make it look like the robot in the movie "Lost in Space". Tracks and everything. I could really use some help on this one and anything you guys and gals could send me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure I've seen pictures of them somewhere. There are stats for some type of Sith droid, war droids I think, in the Dark Side Sourcebook.

Generally droids from that era are very skeletal, without solid bodies. I have a memory of Sith droids being hunched over, with two weapon arms - a blaster cannon and club or axe. That idea may have come entirely from my GM's description though. (We ran into some once in a Sith cavern. It wasn't nice.)

You might take a look at some of the droids in Knights of the Old Republic (http://www.lucasarts.com/products/swkotor/G_gallery.html). It features a lot of Sith, including various Sith Battle Droids. (Plus, it's a fantastic game!)

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I went and looked in the DSSB, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. That book and the RCRB both have the Sith Sentry Droid, but that's gonna be a bit too weak for what I wanted. I'll have the evil doer make a few of those though...just to get him started.

I like the idea of it being hunched over and having two weapon arms. Sounds evil...don't it?

As far as KOTOR goes, I would love to look at it, but I have neither an x-box or PC (I'm using work's right now).

I think I have developed some Stats for the droid. I started out making it a bit too weak (6 or 7 levels). I wanted a hulking devastator who could wipe out a party if they weren't prepared to deal with it. I think I got what I wanted. I just hope it doesn't wipe them out right away. : ) Tell me what you guys think about this.

Sith Battle Droid: 14th level thug, 4th degree tracked droid; Init +3 (+3 Dex); Defense 17 (+3 Dex, +5 Class, -1 Size); Spd 8; VP/WP 30/16; Atk +6/+6/+6/+6/+3/-2 ranged (4D8 19/20 heavy repeating blaster, auto-fire only, range 40m) or +16/+11/+6 ranged (3D8 flamethrower 4 wide by 8 long cone) or +17/+12/+7 melee (1D4 + 4 hand); SV Fort +9, Ref +4, Will +4, SZ Lg; Rep 0; Str 18, Dex 16, Con 16, Int 10, Wis 11, Cha 6; Challenge Code ?

Skills: Listen +5, Search +5, Spot +5, Speak Basic (understand only)

Feats: Armor Prof Light, Armor Prof Med, WP (heavy weapons), WP (exotic, flamethrower), Ambidexterity, Rapid Shot, Point Blank Shot, Two weapon fighting

Equipment: Sith Alchemical Medium Armor (DR5, armor check -5, max dex +3), Arm mounted heavy repeating blaster, arm mounted flamethrower, locked access, sonic sensors, telescopic vision, infrared vision, internal comlink (50km, encoded)

Imagine if you will, a 4 meter tall dark gunship gray tracked droid with a pair of three fingered hands with weapon ports in the palm. Red eyes
and slightly hunched over because its too tall to fit into most rooms. It is constantly searching for prey, but listens to its master and obeys without fail.

This droid will be the culmination of a series of battles and trials my PC's will face. Hopefully, they'll be 4th or 5th level before thinking about taking this on.

Someone back me up, but i think gamer 5 had some Sith War droids.

Yup, #5 has Michael Mikaelian's "The Sith Compendium" article with Sith sentry droids, Sith elite warbots, and Sith slayer tank droids. AND Jeff Grubb's "Seeds of Villainy" piece.

That sounds great! Thanks for the help you two.

I think my buddy has those gamer magazines...I'll go check on it today after I drop off the PotJSB tonight. If they are in there, it'll make it much easier on me trying to figure out some tough droids for the party to face come Friday night.

Thanks again!

For whatever it's worth, here are some images that you might be able to use - taken from the KOTOR concept art and screenshots.
