As the Republic Commando novel started (almost) every chapter with a quote, I hope to do so with each GM's update....some from Star Wars, but I've researched many, many, many real international war-related quotes.

I'm neeearly finished all the data for your HUD downloads, I'll put it up ASAP for you to digest.

If I made an mil. errors in the briefing, please tell me and I'll edit it.

LOL, here's your egg, Ronin: Talmont becomes that crazy Imperial prefect from GG7 ;) I was just leafing through that this morning, looking for info useful for my Tatooine game B)

Briefing looks good, bud. The mission is just awesome. I love this kind of stuff. Let's get it on, my clone brothers!

As far as your accuracy goes, only one tiny error. Normally when a ship's captain enters a room, especially for a briefing or a meeting, the senior enlisted man or the commander's XO is standing near he door, and calls out "Captain on the Deck". The room then snaps to attention. Once the officer is in place and ready, he gives the command "At Ease" or "As You Were" (which tells the men to go back to what they were doing, but pay attention and keep your mouth shut). Minor stuff, really. The briefing was fine as it is. And the intel package was sweet, nice work.

Awesome! Now if I can only get those doc files to open... I dont have MS office / MS Word (not windows wordpad) ...

However, there is a very free MS alternative: Software 602 (http://www.software602.com/products/pcs/download.html) suite package for download for personal use.

Soon as i install it and reboot, i'll be able to skim those profiles docs and catch up with ya all ;)

Terras helped get me a basic template together, but I've yet to go through skills.

Part of it would certainly be the basic Jango set with some additional skills laid in for specialty.

Any idea on what the "basic package" of skills would be & how many skill points we should have for buying the extras?

Any idea on what the "basic package" of skills would be & how many skill points we should have for buying the extras?

Well, most of you have gone heavy on Move Silently, Hide, Spot, Listen and other such sneaky-skills as a good base, then pumped points into whatever skills are specialised for your individual clone....at least a couple of you have invested in Craft: Blasters too...

I'll get around to answering your IC questions tonight...

Plus (remind me incase I forget): once you actually reach Tatooine, I wanna have a mission time-counter in my posts.

Two things: the trio are meeting to conduct their deal in the cantina, so your window is slim, you can't shift it to bust in at night.
And secondly the Republic wants the Skakoan alive. So sorry, you can't just flatten the cantina.

I'll give you fuller answers IC...

No night ops, huh? Too bad. And we have to take a Skakoan alive? I have an idea for that, but I'll wait for the rest of the briefing, etc. before I get into that. It'll require a special piece of equipment that you might not let me have!

And yes, I'm 32 today (well, in a few minutes technically). Let the old man jokes commence.

Rostek
1 December 2004, 08:00 PM
Does it involve a glop grenade or tangler gun, or is it something more devious?
Either way, we'll have a hell of a time with the Black Sun types and the Verp's swarm of bodyguards trying to get to them.

Oh yeah, jp's old, nah-nah-nah na nahhhh nahhh!
:P
Happy B-Day, man B)

Happy B-day JP! as for the old jokes? No way man, ya wont' get any from me :) I see it this way - yer only as old as ya feel!

johnnyputrid
1 December 2004, 08:58 PM
Actually I like the old man jokes. Most of the folks I worked with recently in the Army were all 10 or so years younger than me. Heck, my boss was 8 years younger. But its cool, because the chicks seem to dig it, especially since I look like I'm 20, except for the grey hairs.;)

Sorry Rostek, it doesn't involve a glop grenade or a tangler gun. It does however, involve a riot shotgun with rubber pellets. Riot shotgun+rubbber ammo=Skakoan on his back. Please, oh benevolent GM, let me have a shotgun for my birthday! I even have the stats for it. I promise, I won't abuse it....much. :D

Why dont we just keep it simple and hit him with a stun blast. These guys can apparently explode if they breach their suits, or at least die from the lack of pressure, so shooting him with anything physical may not be the best idea.

And happy birthday JP. I'll think of some old man jokes later.:P

You're no fun.:D

Ronin
2 December 2004, 05:52 AM
Kanner has a good point: Skakoans go pop! Or not quite, but yes: you do not want to breach his pressure suit. A stun shot should do it. Heck, a knuckle sarnie to his face'll do it, especially if delivered with a side-dish of "cool phrase".

Anyway, second update is up. I hope I didn't miss anything. I think we can move on to hardware soon.
#drool#

As for gas, there's Agent T-238 (A&EG p32).

Ronin
3 December 2004, 07:03 AM
Terras; since you're going to Tatooine, you might wanna reconsider exchanging your suit's enviro-conpensation for that over-shoulder-grenade launcher.
A hand-held Merr-Sonn GL-11/GL-11sa (A&EG p34) might be a better choice...

Terras Jadeonar & Raven

Just a wonderin.... Since I opted for weps / heavy weps role...

a light repeater gets about 30 shots per power pack...
My char's +6/+6/+6/+1 or +4/+4/+4/+4/-1 ranged (3d8+3, crit 19-20, Blaster [Light Repeating, Merr-Sonn Underslung Rotary]) means that i'll be chewing through a powerpack at every 6 - 7 rounds with multi or auto-fire.

Does my char have enough room in his backpack & utility belt for 15 - 20 power packs and 15 grenades? (5 smoke, 5 stun, 5 frag) ... With 17 str so i'm not too worried about being able to carry it all. Just a question if it'll all fit in there :P

I'm thinkin that'll hopefully be enough supply should the mission go awry and we get into extended combat until we make it to the alternate LZ, or get holed up until EVAC ...

Its somethin that got me thinking about amo supply anyways. Especially for possibly longer missions, would somethin like a backpack mini power generator wouldn't be more feasable? Else I know we're gonna have to be doing enemy armory raids and looting packs off fallen enemies :D (and plugin to the availble vehicle's aux power outlet whenever possible)

Like I said, just doing a bit of thinking ahead on the subject since I realize heavier class weapons like repeaters get less mileage out of power packs - light repeaters getting 30 shots, heavy repeaters 20 shots, and blaster cannons 6 shots...

In comparison to:
blaster pistol - 100 shots
heavy blaster pistol - 50 shots
sporting rifle - 100 shots
blaster rifle - 50 shots

Which means, i realize when I start running low on powerpacks, it'll have to stow the repeater and switch to the DL-18 pistol for +9/+4 or +5/+5/+5/+0 ... ;)

But then again, are we even gonna be counting or kinda keepin track of amo count? (then the above is probably moot if not keepin track) :P

Ronin
4 December 2004, 03:48 AM
Well...firstly I will be keeping track of ammo.

Secondly: are you sure you'll need all that ordnance (all of you!)...afterall, it should be a quick-in, quick-out mission..... ;)

Anyway, AFAIK powerpacks are pretty small, so yeah, you can stow as much as you can carry, but some (grenades for eg) may have to go on/in webbing around your thighs, waist and up your front.

One more thing: you've all got pretty good BABs: I will be using the hit location tables from the GCG if you wanna go for headshots, etc.... ;)

Ronin
4 December 2004, 05:14 AM
STANDARD GEAR:
Katarn Armour
Integrated secure commlink, integrated helmet glowlamp, macrobinocular viewplate, low-light vision enhancer, retractable arm-mounted vibrodagger, +2 equipment bonus on Listen and Spot checks, +2 equipment bonus on Fortitude saves against extreme temperatures.
DC 5, ACP -2, Max Dex Bonus +2, Move 8m, WEIGHT: 17kg

Utility belt with assault pack
10 power packs, 4 energy cells, medpac, 1 week supply of concentrated field rations, SurvivalGear Water JugFilter, weapons cleaning kit, magnetic compass, hygiene kit, emergency blanket, grappling spike launcher, 2 liquid cable dispensers, 4 luma flares.
WEIGHT: 3.9kg

I presume no one wants to go over their Light Load (RCRB p.127) allowance, so I'll have chief work up loads for you and post them IC ASAP.
Thank God we did go with a higher points-buy or you'd barely be able to carry anything.
I've done :clonetpr: KR-148 "Brand"'s load so far (I'll do the others after my test tomorrow :( )
Armour, utility belt and assault pack (without emergency blanket, flares or water filter) 19.9kg
Blastech DC-17 blaster rifle 4.5kg
Merr-Sonn DEMP Ion Carbine 3.1kg
Repair kit 1kg

That makes you exactly 28.5kg....add one grenade of your choice, and your fully loaded.

Others to come...
(gotta sleep now, got a big, only-held-once-a-year Japanese test early tomorrow. Wish me luck! :( Gotta try to sleep now!)

One more thing: you've all got pretty good BABs: I will be using the hit location tables from the GCG if you wanna go for headshots, etc....

BOOHYEAH! Carnage supreme baby! SHould be interesting to see what a light repeater does when opening up for at least a couple rounds ;) Kinda nice that laser blasts leave fairly non-messy burn marks & charred holes compared to traditional bullets - so it'll held keep the overall gore down.

You won't have to worry about me though - i enjoy a good mission with all its twists over a sensless rack'em up bodycount for no reason spree ;) And considering i get 4 - 5 shots in a single round, that is gonna be a heap of dice-rollin let alone body dmg charts ;)

Hope ya got some sleep Ronin, and good luck on yer test!

Rostek
4 December 2004, 10:58 AM
Secondly: are you sure you'll need all that ordnance (all of you!)...afterall, it should be a quick-in, quick-out mission.....
Hells yeah! "Quick-in, quick-out" is theoretical. If the poo hits the ventilator, then we're going to have a few dozen of Jabba's thugs making our lives stink- always overprepare, it's what the good Sgt Rozen taught me ;)

johnnyputrid
4 December 2004, 12:12 PM
Its been my experience that the poo always hits the ventilator. I have a funny feeling that having "Chiiko The Walking Death Mobile" around will be real handy. When things go south, I want him on our side.:D

Ronin
5 December 2004, 05:09 AM
I've just been skimming through the A&EG, looking for nasty things to throw at you...when I started idly reading about armour mods.

One being the reduction by half of the armour's weight (or 10kg, which ever is less).
Since all but 2 PCs (who have very high strengths) are currently weighted down with the bare minimum of equipment (some poor fellows are only carrying one rifle!8o )...I'm proposing that I consider all Commandoes' armour to have this personalised modification.

That'll give you all another 8.5kg to 'spend'.
"Yay" or "nay"?
If we all agree, then I'll edit my big post by Chief and if you can all edit subsequent posts to bring yours in-line.

Sounds good to me. Put me down for 2 more power packs and 2 more frag grenades. I can't think of anything else I'll need. If we really get into a scrape, I doubt more gear will help me out. Instead, I plan on standing behind Chiiko. I seriously doubt anything will survive his onlsaught.:D

That'll work too. My bad, I forget you were packing some serious heat also. If the fight ends up in a distance shooting contest, I'll cover your six while you mow 'em down from the front. Just holler when you need to reload.

Though I think if it comes down to a full-on frag-fest, that means we seriously screwed up somewhere.

The clip was from Army of Darkness with Bruce Campbell :D

I didn't ever think we'd have this much fun anticipating poodoo to hit the fan :D Almost seems like we're wishing it :P

Whatever ya wanna do with my armor, don't matter to me none. reducing the wieght will only mean packing on more grenades, powerpacks and whatnot ;)

While I and Rostek are taking partial cover and mowing them down, i think i'll be shouting to Kanner or whoever to use them grenades i've been packing since my hands are gonna be full. We're gonna be loving them smoke grenades once the sandstorm disipates...

We're only a small task force in a city full of jabba's thugs. If we have to traverse to a new LZ, they only need to force us to regroup and hole up in a dead-end back alley or building then attrition our amo supplies. Then my comrades, i think it'll get really nasty until Evac arrives ;)

This is gonna be fun regardless what happens. If it becomes brutal, it'll still be fun ;)

8 December 2004, 07:26 AM
A couple more things:

if you want the DC-17 blaster rifle with underbarrel rocket launcher, please specify what type of ammo you want (they I'll tell you if you can have it;) ).

And as for the GL-11/GL-11sa grenade launchers: these are two different models. Rostek and Terras: do you want the frag-firing GL-11 or the stun-firing GL-11sa?
I'm guessing Stiev is taking the GL-11 since you requested a fragger ;)

Those taking underbarrel grenade launchers: to even things up, those launchers can fire any time of grenade (but not TDs!), but they're single-shot.

Rostek
8 December 2004, 08:42 AM
Maybe, after the mission, we should go Krayt hunting- We're certainly heavily armed enough, lol B)

Ronin
10 December 2004, 05:29 AM
Rostek: don't tempt me! ;)

Those two hollow point rockets you want: are they for killing the Goat and the Bug, or for sending the Skak' to sleepyland? The chem' load you want will depend heavily on who you intend to hit.

Is everyone else ready? Please say so either IC or OOC (as Vjerzag) has, and we can get this show on the road.

Rostek
10 December 2004, 05:37 AM

Y'all better, I'm carrying all the food & other stuff you ditched in case things go wrong.

Been playing with TPTCBN (many thx to Terras, unless I see a need to change something (or Ronin sez to, Survival might be a bit high) this is what I have as a prototype:

MT-204 "Fengis" : Adult Male Human, Soldier 3/Scout 1/Tech Specialist 4; Init +2 (+2 Dex); Def 17 (+2 Dex, +5 Class); Spd 10m; VP/WP 65/12; Atk +8/+3 melee (1d3+2, punch), +8/+3 ranged (by weapon); SQ Instant Mastery (Knowledge), Research, Tech Speciality (Medical Specialist +1); SV Fort +6, Ref +8, Will +5; SZ M; FP: 0; Rep: +2; Str 14, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 12, Cha 10.

Equipment: Field Kit, Medical Backpack

Skills: Climb +4, Computer Use +5, Craft (medpacs) +10, Demolitions +5, Disable Device +5, Hide +8, Intimidate +1, Knowledge (Alien species) +12, Knowledge (Biology) +13, Knowledge (Chemistry) +13, Knowledge (Medicine) +11, Knowledge (Tactics) +9, Listen +2, Move Silently +5, Read/Write Basic, Search +5, Speak Basic, Spot +5, Survival +8, Swim +3, Treat Injury +18

Feats: Armor Proficiency (light, medium, powered), Combat Expertise, Dodge, Endurance, Lightning Reflexes, Skill Emphasis (Treat Injury), Stealthy, Weapons Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons)

Ronin
12 December 2004, 12:40 AM
Looks fine Vang'!

So:
First floor = Chiiko, Wing and Fengis (Terras, Vjerzag and Vanger)
Second floor = Dutch, Brand and Stiev (Johnny P, Kanner and Rostek)
Is that right?

First floor team: you're going through the front door, back door or making your own?

Second floor team: where are your points of entry?

A RL question: the UK calls the first floor "the ground floor", but over in the States (and Canada?) it's the "first floor"...Jpn uses the US system...how about where you lot are?

Kanner Ra'an
12 December 2004, 06:34 AM

Sounds good. So you breach, then myself and Stiev will each toss in a stun grenade, then head left and right respectively, followed by you down the middle. Textbook room clearing.

I've got one question for Vanger though. Why the Tech Spec levels? I've always used straight Soldier levels for combat medics. They've got Treat Injury for a class skill already, the skill points per level are the same as a TS, and with the right feats (Surgery, Skill Emphasis) they can equal a TS, plus they get the best attack bonuses and feat selections. Nothing wrong with TS mind you, since it does give you some nice skill bonuses, but it just seems to be a less hardy choice for a combat-minded character.

Ronin
12 December 2004, 05:29 PM
So: Johnny clears the large west-private room, Kanner breaches and clears the north-eastern private room, and Rostek clears the south-eastern private room.
(if the targets aren't upstairs...you take the stairs down to the first floor?)

I marked a map with what I think you mean. Please adjust it as necessary. :)

First floor team: are you going through the front door?

Note: to extract Ajasos, the gunship has to land in the junction infront of the cantina, so you'll have to take him out the front door.

Ronin
15 December 2004, 06:11 AM
About the gunships:
IMHO the RCRB's weapon arcs for the anti-personnel laser cannons are wrong. All pics show two forward ball-socket turrets and one cannon facing the rear.
Hence I'm counting them as:
1 front/right turret
1 front/left turret
1 rear

Just a small point, but it's best I tell you now as opposed to later. :)

Anyway, get your armoured hides aboard that bird, and off we go!

I apologise for doing this at the last moment, but I'm doing my final book keeping before shots are fired...
if it' s okay with you all, I'd like to standardise your VPs a bit....some of you seem to have rolled exceedingly well...while others are a little low...
I'd rather use the RPGA Network's VP ratings (RCRB p.15)...that means:
Dutch: 68
Brand: 72
Wing: 78
Stiev: 72
Fengis: 54
Chiiko: 76

Ronin
26 December 2004, 06:49 AM
I've attached a copy of some tables I'll be using to keep track of your names :D, health and ammo....
so far it comes to about 7300 blaster shots, 23 smoke grenades, 20 frag grenades, 8 smoke grenades, 30 DEMP shots, six vibro daggers, 2 KO-poison rockets, 8 AV rockets.......and one serrated survival knife.

....all makes me think of Hudson in the Spec' Ed' of Aliens :D

Not so important now, but if we have a second mission...what kinda thing would you like? And what kinda environment? Personally I'm in a kinda jungle-mood at the moment...but by the time we finish this mission...who knows.

johnnyputrid
26 December 2004, 09:33 AM
A jungle environment sounds cool. Camouflage clone trooper armor perhaps? Just as long as we don't have to eat snakes and mushrooms every five minutes to keep our VP up.:D

I think Yavin IV might be perfect actually. I'd rather use locations we all know....cut's down on my paperwork and map-making.
Gotta get my brother to email me this great fractal-generating program...a plasma fractal with a green palate(sp?!) looks perfect for a jungle map...

Three things:
i) Please leave dice rolls to the GM (sorry, my bad, I should have mentioned this at the get-go).
ii) If you're gonna be out of action for any length of time, then please give me a bit of warning and tell me how you want your character handled. (JP thanks for the heads-up).
iii) Try to remember the plan. Wing is supposed to be fast-roping down with Chiiko and Fengis, not stepping out onto the roof.

With Vjerzag away for a bit, I'll take over Wing for the mean time...and he's fastroping down to the door with Chiiko and Fengis.

JP sent me a profile for his PC's training sergeant. If the rest of you wish to do so, please do. I'll be sure to try and work them in, or at the very least mention them. :) I've attached the profile JP sent me...

I'm still around for the time being, but when my buddy gets some free time he's gonna rebuild my computer, and I have no idea how long its going to take him. Since he's doing it for free, I can't really complain if he takes a while. Worst comes to worst, I'll just head to the library and post from there.

Ronin, if you need to handle my PC for a while, just remember to use a lot of slang in his speech patterns. And in combat, he's prefers a pistol and up-close fighting (think of the fighting styles you see in the 'Bourne' movies and stuff like "The Hunted"; fast Kali-inspired fighting). At range, he'll switch to his rifle if needed.

For now, let's just get it on!

Ronin
30 December 2004, 05:04 AM
Well, once Terras posts Chiiko's actions, I'll do an update (and get Wing on the ground).
Hopefully no-one's absence should cause too much disruption. :)

I'll be busy most of tomorrow, so I probably won't be able to update until Saturday.

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
2 January 2005, 12:10 AM
sorry about the absence.

just gotten a new motherboard and ram upgrade - was kinda at the moment thing. had to re-install windows and such after the upgrade.

Been also playing a few rounds of Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat with a local friend while trying out the upgrades - made a nice improvement by the way.

funny thing - came back here few mins ago, forgot what my login password was, tried the password retrival system but that dont seem to work on this site. didnt give up and started trying a few passwords i used and managed to get in!

Heheh, jungle planet would be cool. Yavin IV or whatever, galaxie's the limit when it comes to jungle planets. ;)

Guys I landed safely in Australia (and on the roof-hopefully) here is great. Happy new year to all! Let's go on with a game.

Ronin
2 January 2005, 05:30 AM
Glad you landed safely! :)
Wing was supposed to be with Fengis and Chiiko taking the main door...I think there may have been some "1st floor"/"ground floor" confusion...:?
So, I posted a little correction so that Wing is now on the ground, by the door to the cantina. I hope you didn't mind.
I could have gone with the confusion and had four of you on the roof, but things are gonna get tough enough without this as well...;)

So:
Kanner, Rostek and Johnny: entry from the rooftop to the (North America: second floor, Euro: first floor)
Vanger, Vjerzag and Terras: entry to the (North America: first floor, Euro: ground floor)

Everyone clear?
I'll have an IC update for you tomorrow...had a few beers and just got home, so I don't wanna update now. ;)

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
2 January 2005, 12:47 PM
Clear? Clear as Carbonite? :P

Ya kinda lost me on the NA & Euro codes for both ground, first and second floors :P Ehh. i'll follow suite go with it anyways. ;)

johnnyputrid
2 January 2005, 03:24 PM
In Europe they refer to the 1st Floor as the "Ground Floor" and the 2nd Floor as the "First Floor". A few places in America do something similiar to this as well. If you ever go to a hospital, you might notice that the elevators have buttons for G, then 2, 3, 4 etc., instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

Ronin
2 January 2005, 06:25 PM
For the sake of understanding, I think it's best we use the North American (and Jpnz actually) system...though I always have to check myself (being a Brit').

I'll have an update out within the hour.

Ronin
3 January 2005, 07:25 AM
Gotta clear this up:
A) Team Two (Dutch, Brand and Stiev), you're blowing a hole into the central corridor of the second floor, right? To clear that floor, then progress down the stairs?

B or are you blowing a hole in the roof and dropping down into the main room of the cantina?

I thought it was plan A...:raised: :?

Rostek
3 January 2005, 07:49 AM
Plan A is also the impression I'm working under.

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
4 January 2005, 12:09 AM
Well, not IC or OOC... but my computer...

at first it was all the symptoms of some major hardware malfunction - mothrboard, ram, cpu type... as windows would be unable to run programs, give errors about the program corrupt, crash the installers, and or hang the system...

still hadn't ruled that out totally, however, re-installed windows and i'm no farther... must've gotten the trojan back soon as i installed zone alarm & my avg anti-virus... got the same symptoms back again...

Have a look at this site: http://www.viruslist.com/en/viruses/encyclopedia?chapter=153280800

i've been having many of those symptoms... earleir today, my zone alarm was constantly bugging me to allow battlefield.exe to connect to the net, as i was trying to connect and play a few online sessions... Z.A can be a pain sometimes regarding that and didn't think much of it - allowed it acces and that was that.

well, online posting might be delayed a few days as i do a few more rre-installs and some hardware troubleshooting with my friend down the street - like trying his ram, cpu and such to see if i still get the same symptopms...

using my laptop right now.... this ol' p133 with 144mb of ram, 1gb hd, and win98se is pretty much my only net lifelife right now...

and truthfully its been years since i've ever been hit by a virus / trojan / worm...

btw, the trojan of curiosity is: Trojan Horse IRC/Backdoor.sdbot.92.at

Rostek
4 January 2005, 10:27 AM
I feel your pain- a few months ago, I had to purge my harddrive, and do a full system re-install because of half a dozen Ad-Ware and Spy-Ware programs.
The guy at Dell tech support talked me through it- although I could have done without the impenitrable Indian accent for both guys I talked to (damn outsourceing  ).
It was a major pain... good luck, Terras

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
5 January 2005, 11:27 AM
got rid of the trojan finally... but the file crc errors when opening / installing programs remain. its now a hardware issue, gonna borow a buddy's cpu and ram and try those to narrow the cause. this evening i hope i can find out which component has gone faulty.

Well, did some process of elimination. it was the stick of ram that went bad... all the headache from a stick of ram going bad, allowing the machine's defenses going down and getting a trojan...

got the stick of ram exchanged, verified everything works, then thought what the heck... why not exchange the Asrock KT7VT6 (via kt600 chipset) board and get an Nforce2 chipset board... was like 30 bux cdn more anyways and then i know i'll have an awesome system....

well, windws is back up, several hours of patching and updates...

and installling utils and aps as i need them... should be back here and posting in a day or two ;)

Btw, also switched over to Mozila FireFox 1.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) and Thunderbird 1.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/) now. ain't takin no chances after this past week :P too many re-installs of windows xp ... :P

Indeed.
If Chiiko opens the cantina's front door, then I'll count Wing's actions as progressing from there on the ground floor. If Chiiko doesn't, then Wing will have to hold his action until someone, or he, does open the door.

Upper-floor team (checking your actions):
Dutch: move to window of the western private room, smash it, draw a grenade (next turn: lob it thru the window and move to the door).

Brand: move to the door of the north-east private room, stun grenade it.

Rostek: move to the door of the south-east private room (where there may well be an injured Gamorrean).

That right?

Rostek
12 January 2005, 07:09 PM
Yep- I'm just outside the door, ready to toss a stunner and lay the place to waste B)

Ronin
13 January 2005, 05:18 AM
Cool.
I PM'd and checked with Kanner; he's also going for the larger, western room, waiting for Dutch to lob in a stunner next turn, then he'll go in.

That'll leave the north-east room for someone to 'do' the turn after that.

Just a small detail, but I re-read the rules on being KO'd...and realised that the Gotal should have been thoroughly shredded by that frag grenade of Wing's.

Ronin
21 January 2005, 03:06 PM
A couple of things about the Scimitar/Infiltrator (which is the better name? Which would you guys rather call it?)...
i. The cloak must be raised (by the pilot or another crew member) after decanting from hyperspace.
ii. You can't fire when cloaked.
iii. Firing causes an energy surge, which degrades the cloak's performance for a given time (once it is brought up). The more you fire, the less powerful the cloak will be. The longer you fire for, the longer the cloak will be degraded for. e.g. after five rounds of combat, the shield will be degraded for the next five rounds (this is an experimental rule that we'll have to test out).
iv. It still has storage room for one speederbike (this and the other cargo space can be modified for missions). But you have to ask commando to requisition a speederbike if you want it.
v. When the Republic seized the ship, another department got the Darkeye probe droids. Sorry. Maaaybe I'll give you them back in a later mission. :)

Ronin
26 January 2005, 05:47 AM
To give you players more descriptive freedom (and lighten my load;)) I have a suggestion...

Terras brought an on-line dice roller to my attention (by way of Quadrant's Rebels#2):
http://www.irony.com/mailroll.html
I'm suggesting we could implement this...so that you make your attack rolls and damage rolls (to save time), etc, emailing them via the program to me, and I'll PM you with the results (e.g. in the case of Johnny's shot at the Gamorrean: IC he posts that he's shooting. He then sends both his attack and damage rolls to me via that site, I PM him back to say he got a critical to the pig's head and a normal WP shot, and that the piggy wasn't killed but ducked his head back thru the window...then JP gets to write up the result of his actions himself).

So, I'd like a vote:
a. Implement the dice-roller?
b. (independant of your vote for 'a') I give you the numerical effect of your rolls via PM, and you describe it IC.

Or just keep on as we are (both of the above will slow matters quite a bit...)

Rostek
26 January 2005, 07:23 AM
I think you're doing a fantastic job as-is, Ronin, I say we keep the game up-tempo.

(1 vote "status quo" ;))

Kanner Ra'an
26 January 2005, 07:51 AM
Its a cool idea, but im lazy and i like it when the games move at a good pace. I'll lend my vote to status quo as well. I trust you Ronin, and i think things are ok as they are.

Vanger Chevane
26 January 2005, 10:37 AM
I'm comfortable with either method, just not fond of Bell-curve rollers as they usually score lower than one can with real dice.

Most ppl have learned to roll their dice so that hitting below 50% on one is a rather rare occurence, instead of half-the-time for some program.

Ronin
26 January 2005, 04:39 PM
Cheers for the feedback....we'll see what the others think...but I'd like to introduce 'plan b' at least...
I'll keep doing the rolls, and PM you with the basic details (hit locations if necessary, a general idea of how badly you hit him) and let you describe it. I'm sure there'll be special occasions when I wanna do the description, but I'd rather let you guys do more. :)

As for IC, I just need to know Dutch and Wing's actions, then I'll update.

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
26 January 2005, 07:56 PM

Except for the DC-17m, but I'll give you those from Mission II onward. I'm pretty sure that thing attached to his thigh is the anti-armour attachment for the 17m...though I think the pic is a mirror image since you fix the AA attachment to the barrel with your left hand. What's Dutch's load status?
I can give him my stun/smoke grenade bandolier of 4kg (4 grenades)I could take a couple off that if necessary). Brand's going to be busy, so I won't ask him to do it (if you would take that 4 that would be great- cause I'm also looking to pick up a Verp for our squad's armory... Stiev's a collector, after all. Since he's also got some build skills, he could also be squad armorer if required).

Yeah, Dutch is running light. You'll just have to ask him nicely. :D

Just call me "Dutch the Mule". I've got no problems taking on a few extra tools of destruction. I'd even thought about grabbing one of the dead piggie's axes for a souvenier. Go on and load me up with whatever you need to.

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
3 March 2005, 09:07 PM
I'll have a few more piggie souveniers for those interested soon as we mop up the two on the main floor ;) Gee, nobody wanting some lotran-bracemen souveniers? I dont think theres anything that has met Chiiko's fancy yet, say like bazookas, shoulder missle launchers, blaster canons or similar heavy weaponry...

Btw, I'd be happy to help distribute the extra loads... more hands makes for less work and lighter loads ;) that be the farmboy heritage in me :)

Careful with the looting here, I've already got a gun from my Iotran, and unless I foul up we also need to pack Wing and his loose arm outta here too.

And haul out one skak presumably...

Dang, we loaded up on grenades which may be vital later but at the present time not needed and extra weight for the carry-out... funny how it works sometimes :P

;)

I know only Johnny Putrid has so far, but I'd still welcome your character's training sergeants, if anyone is inclined to write them up.

Plus if you have any ideas for other clones...just a name and a role is sufficient. Just so I have a stock of NPCs to use. So far I have a squad (Rook, Knight, Pawn and King) who I wanna include in a future adventure...
Rook: solid and dependable. Unwilling to retreat.
Knight: brave and idealistic. Shows more concern than others.
Pawn: scout/point man, Jokes that the others are willing to sacrifice him.
King: squad leader.

Just something simple like that would be good. :)

Trying to think of cool names for some commandoes who had training with Jetpack Troopers too...and Sharpshooters...

I do have one concept for a Commando sharpshooter who took a round in the throat and has a cybernetic voicebox...

6 March 2005, 01:55 PM
How about a squad of commandos who are intensely physical, but prone to bizarre acts of humor? First you'd have the Squad Leader, Moe, the point man Larry, the heavy weapons guru Curly, and of course the utility man, Shemp. You can't forget Shemp. His contributions were vitally important to the growth of the squad.

:D

You forgot Bishop. A pedantically linear thinker (the extremely by-the-book type) & somewhat sanctimonious, but lethal at very long ranges. Perhaps the team Sniper. :D

Course, with Jango Clones and the very non-sexual tone of SW it's very tricky to figure out Queen. :P

Quick question. Are we going with the standard "by-the-RCR" medpacs, which are only usable once per day, or do we high-tech super-troopers get the good stuff?

The way combat medpacs worked in my old group's games were different and more effective. They were typically fast-acting, single-use, self-applying bacta patches which healed 2 WPs near-instantly (or over a very short period of time, say 10 rounds). Each patch was like a standard pressure dressing, except that it was self-adhesive, and had a small series of pins which injected a small amount of bacta into the system. Topical ptaches were also available for direct application to bare skin (for treating burns, etc.) For more serious wounds, you would of course need a full medical kit, but for your standard-issue first aid kit, you got 2 bacta patches, which you could use as needed. There was no limit on the number of these you could use per day, but it required a full-round action that drew AoOs to use one. If successfully attacked during the application process, the bacta patch is ruined. Also, the restored WPs don't necessarily guarantee full recovery, either. For instance, Dutch took a nasty blow to the throat and Wing lost an arm. Those restored WPs won't make Dutch's throat pain vanish, or Wing's arm regrow, but the will serve to keep them going until they can reach better medical care.

Since this is obviously a more realistic, nitty gritty type of campaign, it just seems a bit silly to limit the number of bandages and first aid remedies that you can use per day. I mean, no modern field medic is going to say "Sorry dude, you've used up your allocation for pressure dressings today." This is even more important since we've got a seriously wounded trooper who really needs a couple of fresh medpacs real fast, not to mention a new limb.

Indeed.
This is something I've been mulling over...
I'll try to do an update tonight, and by then I should have had chance to make a decision. I agree that some kind of multiple-use rule is necessary.
I did bring this up in a thread in the D20 forum...

Ronin
11 March 2005, 06:06 AM
Well...checking the squad's medical abilities:
Fengis: treat injury +18(!!!)
Brand: +7
Stiev: +6
Chiiko: +9
Dutch: +4
Wing: +10 (unfortunate that the second best medic is the one most in need of attention:D)

Restoring VPs shouldn't be a problem with Fengis' medical kit (the ECM-598 from A&EG p93), heck...he'll be restoring 20VPs per use.

Stabilizing Wing should be easy (ECM-598, Fabreth Medical Biochemicals Shock Cloth and Nilar Med/Tech Corporation Field Cauterizer give a +10!), and a coupla medipack'll get him up to 0 WP.

I dunno...what do you guys think?
I'd rather not go with unlimited use of medical kits and packs...I don't want you all getting back up to 100% between encounters...but then again, you've gotta be able to survive from one gunfight to another.

How about, for mission one, we go with 2 uses of each (pack and kit) per character, per 24 hour period?
See how that goes and modify it for mission 2 (or later in mission 1) as appropriate.

I agree with a limit on use, after all, there's only so much hurt someone can take before they need to be evac'd to a hospital.

Of course I've spent the points for +18 Treat Injury. The kind of disasters that Commandos tend to regularly find themselves stuck in means an MT has to be at the top of their game so the squad makes it back alive.

Battered, bloody, and limping badly perhaps, but alive. :D

Not at all. Especially thx to a local radio station's Sunday night Retro show, it's one of the DJ's faves to play if it's a low-request night.

As for the quote, since you guys did encounter some Iotrans on this mission too, it seemed appropriate. I'll be back to "Camouflage" for the next full update.

Rostek
28 March 2005, 04:08 PM
Ronin, I was thinking- after the mission, I think Stiev's designation should change from DR-092 to RC-092.
"DR" stands for Defective Recon Commando in what little backstory I've had time to cook up (Yes, I'll try to get that stuff done and off to you  ), since Stiev was termed, in fact, defective. Since he's back to "operational status", I think his designation should probably change to reflect that. Since this mission was his first with a non-provisional unit, the successful completion thereof would merit a change in status, no?
What do you think?

Ronin
28 March 2005, 05:47 PM
Sure, fine by me.

At the end, for the survivors, I wanna do a big debriefing section. Each commando in separate rooms interviewed by an officer and a Kaminoan...
still thinking about...

And "yes" you boys might do well to study those Senatorial Cruiser deckplans... ;)

Rostek
28 March 2005, 08:58 PM
Great- and as for that transport, I'd recommend open rooms with very little in the way of cover for those inside and a poison gas dispesing system that is accessable from a bridge terminal- unless, of course, we're defending it. In that case, keep the poison gas dispenser and provide Eweb gunnery stations and rooms containing lots of random cover :P

Hey folks, sorry for the tardiness, but as I said before, I been working like a dog for the last two weeks, trying to save up money for new place. Johnny Putrid PM'd me with his versions of the DC-17m and DC-15s from Republic Commando.
I don't really mind if we useMoridin's or Johnny's...so I'm putting it up for a vote. I'd like all of you (Kappas, Sigmas and Theta) to tell me which set of stats you wanna use.

Johnny's versions:

BlasTech DC-17 Modular Assault Blaster Rifle (MABR)

Weapon Group: Blaster Rifles
Type: Blaster Rifle
Damage: 3d8
Damage Type: Energy
Range Increment: 30 m
Fort DC: 15
Size: Medium
M/A: M and A
Special: The DC-17 uses specially designed high-concentration power packs, enabling the rifle to fire up to 300 shots on a single power pack. However, these special power packs are non-rechargeable and are only issued for combat operations. The DC-17 is designed to operate with standard power packs, though it can fire only 50 shots per pack. Troops issued DC-17 rifles typically carry a standard load of 8 of these special power packs.

The DC-17 is capable of fully automatic fire. Since the rifle is not primarily designed as an automatic weapon, the firer suffers a -4 penalty to all attacks made when using Autofire, even if the firer has the Multishot feat. Multifire attacks are treated normally.

The modular design of the DC-17 rifle enables various attachments to be fitting to the weapon, while still using the primary trigger to fire additional payloads.

DC-17 Anti-Armor Attachement:
Damage: 4d8
Blast Radius: 6 m
Damage Type: Energy
Range Increment: 50 m
Ammo Count: 4
Special: Attaching or removing the AA module requires an attack action. The anti-armor shells used are custom designed, and cannot be purchased normally. A standard load consists of only 4 rounds, with the execption of dedication AA specialists, who usually carry and additional 8 shells.

DC-17 Sniper Attachment
Damage: 3d8
Range Increment: 80 m
Damage Type: Piercing
Ammo Count: 20
Special: The DC-17 sniper module fits completely over the rifle's barrel and comes equipped with a 10x digital scope which links directly to the firer's HUD helmet display. The snper attachment fires specially designed 14.7mm high velocity duranium slugs, capable of penetrating 1 meter of solid duracrete at 300 meters. The round's immpressive kinetic energy ratio enables it to perform as well as a standard blaster bolt, with the added ability to bypass ray shields and pierce the standard armor plating used on most combat droids, most notably the Super Battle Droids used by the CIS forces.

The sniper module's removable magazine is unable to be 'field-loaded'; after the last round is expended from the magazine, the magazine's feeding mechanism is disabled, preventing enemy troops from utilizing empty mags. Each magazine contains 20 rounds, with dedicated snipers typically carrying 4-5 additional magazines. The sniper module may only be fired once per round. Unlike the other DC-17 attachments, the firer may not fire the weapon's primary barrel, as the sniper attachment uses the barrel as an anchor point.

DC-17 Grenade Launcher Module
Damage: 4d8
Blast Radius: 6 m
Damage Type: varies by grenade type
Range Increment: 50 m
Ammo count: 5 grenades
Special: A variation of BlasTech's standard under-mounted grenade launcher, the DC-17 variant utilizes the unique trigger group of the DC-17, enabling the primary trigger to fire either blaster bolts or variant payloads with no additional delay time. The launcher can hold 5 grenades in it's magazine, or may be operated as a pump-action single shot weapon. The launcher attachment accepts a wide variety of payloads, ranging from standard frag grenages, to EMP pule emitters, smoke canisters, and cryoban cylinders.

BlasTech DC-15s Combat Pistol
Weapon Group: Blaster Pistols
Type: Blaster Pistols
Damage: 3d6+1
Damage Type: Energy
Fort DC: -
Range Increment: 12 m
Size: Small
M/A: M only
Special: The DC-15s was designed for commando and ARC troopers as a backup weapon, but the pistol has been so well received that some troopers prefer them over rifles, especially in tight quarters. Outwardly no different in appearance or operation than a standard blaster pistol, the DC-15s uses a revolutionary new power pack, capable of self-charging without the need for replacement. Dispelled tibanna gas is fed back into the pistols' specially designed Xciter, enabling a near-limitless supply of firepower.

The only drawback to this new design is that the DC-15s is limited to firing only 7 shots before its power pack begins the recharging process. Users are cautioned to count their shots to aviod wading into battle unprepared. After firing 7 shots, the SC-15s must recharge for one full round before the weapon can be fired again. Though its power pack can fire thousands of shots before completely draining, repeated heavy firing has been known to produce noticable (and dangerous)stress cracks in the unit's Xciter module.

I would say Johnny's just for the difference in the sniper attachment. Otherwise they seem fairly equal. But either way is cool by me. Oh and thanks Ronin for finding someone to finally GM Sigma squad.:D And let's not forget Duncanus for agreeing to help our little group.;)

sniper rifle:
Johnny's has a bit more range, by 30m, but Morriden's got the 19-20 crit...

AA:
Johhny's is little over double the range and has a blast radious but does not specify auto/multi fire.
Morriden's is only 20m, crit 20, specifies auto&multi...
-both ammo count of 4.

For the sniper, its a toss-up they're both good. Though Though for the extra range, you can never go wrong by having it.

For the AA, I think i like Johnny's - once again extra range is good, this case nearly double since ya dont always wanna get close and personal with a tank. Also Blast radious - such weapons always have splash damage, and in a pinch ya can use on a group of baddies on foot.
Multi & auto is nice but imho kinda redundant on a weapon that only has 4 shots per reload, considering the size of the ammo that limits how much yer gonna carry your not going to be rapid-spread firing them. Else I could spend and reload an entire magazine in one round and still have an attack or two to spare...

also, Congrats and welcome to Duncanus! Co-gm's are invaluable, and it'd be a pleasure to have another squad of us Commandos. :)

Welcome, Duncanus! Can't wait to game with you. :)

As for the 17m, would it be possible to split my votes? The reason I ask this is because, after reading Hard Contact, I think johnny's AA is more like what we read, while Moridin's Sniper attachment seems to mimic the book a little more closely. Either chioce will be fine by me, as both packages of stats seem to be balanced, and I'm sure a lot of thought went into both, but that is what I see.

IC posting from me soon! I promise! :)

Oops, I forgot to list the crit ranges for the weapons. The DC-17 rifle has the standard 19-20 (like most blaster rifles), the DC-15s has a 20 (like most pistols) and the various attachments are as follows:
Sniper - 19-20
AA - 20, ignores the first 5 points of DR when used against vehicles or lightly armored droids (i.e., SBDs, homing spiders, etc.)
Grenade launcher - by grenade type (usually 20)

Moridin's versions were fine, but I just like my weaponry stats to be less 'generic'. I don't care which version we use either, I just thought I'd present an alternative. Regardless of which set gets used, Dutch is still gonna pack his trusty Merr-Sonn 44 and combat knife. Thanks for the comments, though.

I plowed through RC on the X-Box last night and have some revelations for johnny's weps.

1. The 17m does less damage than the 15s on a shot per shot basis, so maybe you should switch the damage on the two.

These are if you use the move action to load new power pack (I use it in my home games).
2. The 17m has a 60-round clip.
3. The sniper attachment has a 5-round clip.
4. The AA attachment must be reloaded after every shot.

As a side note I have home built the suit shield, hanheld resucitation unit, and bacta processing implant. If Ronin wants to use them I'll post them here.

T-shirts huh?

Lol, then we'd need someone like Hisham to draw us a group portrait with our numerical & nicknames above or below, brandishing our weapons...

Suppose we'd all have to chip in a few $ for the artist and then pay for our own shirts... Though i doubt Cafe Press would print something like that as they dont really do stuff that is already licensed...

suppose a drawn group portrait would be good enough though ;)

Given I'm still rather Stats-Challenged, I really don't have an opinion on which version of The Deece is better.

Sides, I've just acquired a "slightly used" Duo for an alternate weapon... :P

Well, it's looking like we're gonna use Johnny 's stats anyway by the votes...

We've already got stats for the armour, which I'm pretty happy with (shieldless though it is. There was no mention of a personal shield in Hard Contact...and I generally loathe the things in SW)...and I don't want the Commandoes to be too well protected. ;)

I would be interested in seeing those other things though...we can see if Fengis needs them for one...

The Handheld Resucitation Unit can only be used on a dying character (negative wound points). Using it is a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. The user must be next to the wounded character. All it is meant to do is revive the character ( character se to 1 wound point of health). It can be used on a clinically dead character (-10 or more wound points) but the character must be intact (all limbs and whatnot accounted for) and the device only has a 25% chance of working. It bumps the dead character to -9 wound points where he must be stablized normally. If used more than twice per day, character have a cumulative 15% chance of temporarily losing 2 points from Intelligence or Wisdom (determined randomly). These points can only be regained through prolonged bed rest (1 point per day spent doing nothing but resting). The unit, because of its electrostatic discharge, may be used as a weapon. It deals 1d6 of electrical damage to any healthy target (anything with vitality remaining).

Whew! That's a lot of parenthesis. I can't seem to find the stats for the bacta implant. Might be on the other computer...

Well, let's put that up for vote too!

At first I liked it...but the more I think about it, it seems a bit too good. You're up and on your feet (albeit another hit and you're down again) a bit too quickly for my liking...it eliminates the need to carry downed comrades (which is a good way to take out more than one enemy at once: cripple but don't kill one guy, and two more are taken out of the fight by having to carry him)...

Actually there's two more issues:
Should we have armour give a bonus (equal to DR) to Fort SVs versus stun?

And, after looking at healing (again) I'd like to propose a one-medpack use per injury rule. We had agreed on two uses per day, but that's only gonna heal 2 to 4 WPs, no matter how screwed up you are...so I'd like to suggest one per injury.
For example:
Dutch took an elbow to the throat. One injury: one medpack.
Brand took four hits from a destroyer. Two in each arm thus he could be treated by four medpacks in one day.
I know keeping track of the number of injuries sustained would be book-keeping, but as GM I'm willing to do that.
(one question arrises: how many injuries does a grenade cause? Say...3?)

So....the votes:
i) include the Handheld Resus Unit?
ii) count DR versus stun saves?
iii) one medipack per injury (per day)?

As for the weapons, I don't think we've had Kanner's vote, but the majority is for Johnny's guns anyway. It is decided.

Once we get all this decided I'll upload a master file of everything (standard load, weapon profiles and any more house rules we agree on..perhaps a Regimental record too for lost commandoes).

Well- I think that perhaps if we were to modify the handheld to bring the character up to 0 WP (and thus only able to take one action per round) it might be balanced a bit more towards what we can use (ie, not too overpowered).
As for the -10, perhaps the handheld must be used within a number of rounds equal to the character's Constitution mod for a 50-75% chance of working, or a number of rounds equal to the character's Constitution score for a 20-30% chance of working- and requires a Treat Injury check (DC 15) to use properly (position correctly on the body, etc.).

As for Armor, I vote "Yes" (since it makes sense that armor should dampen a stun blast), and I also vote "Yes" on the "One Medpak per injury".

Sorry, typing at 2:00 AM is not good. Rosteck is right it. Only raises you to 0 WP and a -10 WP character must be reached in CON turns. Also after 5 uses the device's special energy cell (x10 cost) must be replaced. But Rostek's chance of success and DC do make more sense. Like all homebuilt stuff (especially since it has yet to be used) it can be easily tweaked. We can probably work out the kinks before mission 2.

EDIT : The Resus takes one hand to operate and weighs 2 kg.

I vote yes for the (end result) HHRU.
I vote yes to the medpak per injury.

I think 'nades are worth 3 injuries. The trooper body-stocking probably has some stun resistance, since it is probably like a synthetic rubber. Now no padding/stocking might amplify it, but in general I think Armor should help with stun resistance.

Ok the stats for the Bacta Processing Implant!

The BPI lets characters use wall mounted Bacta Units. Instead of being submerged, the character need only inject the bacta into their bodies. The implant shunts the bacta to wounded sections faster, allowing for a quicker recovery. When exposed to submerged or injected bacta, a character heals at double rate. Ointments (like those in medpaks) have no added affect as they are applied directly to the wound anyway. In order to use a wall mounted Bacta Unit, a character must succeed at a Treat Injury (DC 15) check. A person can move a wounded comrade to a BU but the DC increases to 20 like a submerged tank. For all intents and purposes (Force, Ion Damage, etc.) the item is considered cybernetics. As BUs are rare these implants are commonly inserted only into troops who have access to them or are expected to spend a lot of time in the Bacta Tank (Like commandoes;) )

The BUs are just like tanks, but can only be used by people with BPI as it must be injected in a special port. Using one provokes an attack of opportunity and costs an attack action.

Shred as you see fit, friends.

Im going to vote yes on damage reduction to stuns. It makes sense since the blast isn't actually hitting you. One medpac per injury im going to go against, just so we dont go crazy on them. As for the handheld unit, i'll cast my vote as a yes with Rosteks tweaking.

Ronin, the Resus Unit sounds like an equivalent to the Portable Defribrillator. Handy in an extreme emergency, but may be too bulky or problematic to justify.

I do like Rostek's version though. Lets you save someone's life - but they need immediate and serious Medical Attention to keep them that way.

I do agree with the DR vs. Stunbolts, if Stunbolts bypassed armor like Lightsabres do, they'd become the weapon of choice (you can always shoot them later with a Killbolt), which is clearly not the Canon case.

Seems I was a bit mistaken bout the Medpack Rule. I thought we were going with 2/day per person, not per wound. If we allow per-wound usage, then once should suffice.

Wouldn't want Life as a Vat-Rat to get too easy, would we? :P

Welcome to the Mayhem, Duncanus. Good story, players, and GMs. What more could you want? :D

Bacta Implant: I thought this was covered by Bacta Patches/Bandages and injectors/pumps. AFAIK a Medic should have a small pump, supply of Bacta, & plenty of tubing to deliver Bacta into a wound.

In Truce at Bakura, a Medic uses a pump & some tubing to circulate some Bacta through Dev Sibwarra's lungs in an attempt to remedy the damage done to them. We may need to brew up some rules for Limited Bacta Application, especially for Field Treatment as AFAIK what's formally spec'd is only full-tank immersion.

Grenades: Damage really depends on proximity, from D6/2 at extreme range to D100 if it goes off at point-blank. I remember there was a thread somewhere probly last year (Things that go BOOM?), I spent a decent # of posts discussing this with ppl like Attorney at Rules Fulongamer. Some really good info there well worth the search. B)

As always, YMMV. ;)

True, true, that's what we did agree on: two per day. It's just that I've been thinking about it again and I suggest revising it to one medpack per injury, per day.

As for the Resus being like a portable defib, that's how I see it too...and with Rostek's revision...it's okay.

One medpac per wound sounds good to me. If you got shot 15 times in the exact same spot, and had 15 medpacs to spare, sure it would be a bit unbalancing, but that kind of scenario sounds highly unlikely.

As for the Resus kit, it sounds fine, but I sure don't want to lug the thing around. It may come in handy, or it may just end up being excess baggage. If it saves one of our lives, great. If not, it could always be turned into an IED, right? Either way, we'll figure out how to get some mileage out of the thing.

On the subject of grenades, your standard frag causes energy damage. But realisitically, a fragmentation grenade would cause 3 seperate kinds of injuries: piercing (from the shrapnel), energy (from the concussive effect), and heat/fire (from the explosives contained within). But that's a lot of book-keeping, I would think. If you want realism, then anything within the blast radius (4 meters) is toast, pure and simple. While sophisticated armor might be able to damp the piercing and heat effects, the kinetic energy released would turn your internals into jelly. They way I've always done it is that if you fail a Reflex Save, you've failed to position yourself so as to protect your vital areas, and take full damage, which from a standard frag is 32 points. A successful save means you've found a rock to duck behind or managed to hightail it outta there just in the nick of time, only dealing with half damage.

Basically, if a grenade lands next to you, you have almost no chance of avoiding injury. It just becomes an issue of how serious the injury is. Of course that is playing things very realistic, and that might not make for good RPGing. Heros need to be able to do the impossible, like kicking a grenade back at the thrower, or something equally amazing. Regular thugs and commoners would probably be killed outright from a grenade attack, as it should be. Another reason why us commando types wear armor.
