Thanks Ronin. It's always good to get the 'Go at this station' from a Vet. See you in the free fire zone.

Safetys off. ;)

29 March 2005, 05:54 PM
We've got another recruit coming in. Ktmoss has kindly agreed to take on the role of walking killing machine He can have his stats up by friday
if yall approve, I did offer him a position in the Squad several days back

29 March 2005, 08:11 PM
I'm here too, pending TK's approval of my stats of course.

Sure, the book/game shows a squad of 4, but perhaps some squads were trained to include special units and raised the number up to 6? That makes sense for our numbers, and also gives us two fire teams of 3.

30 March 2005, 06:32 AM
Kappa squad is currently six-strong, and that works fine.

If/when we all group together perhaps the twelve or so of us could split down to four-man units...but that's the future....gotta see who makes it that far...

30 March 2005, 06:48 AM
Anybody heard from TK afer his cut short post? Maybe our first mission is the search for TK:) Abducted in mid post:)

30 March 2005, 07:08 AM
I think that was his "teaser trailer" ;)
I'm sure he'll complete it once you're all assembled. :)

30 March 2005, 12:46 PM
'Have you seen this GM?"

I think Ronin is right in that he probably posted that as teaser and to set up the thread to get ready for the game.

I need to rework my skills, Blah im just not real happy with them, And do i really need Craft((Medpack))?

Vanger Chevane
30 March 2005, 03:35 PM
I'd suggest keeping the Craft: Medpack as sooner or later you're bound to run out of them, and mid-mission is a really bad time to be patching your Brothers together with spit & Engine Tape.

30 March 2005, 03:52 PM
Our first mission is to Ryloth, FYI 'Gig' speaks the local dialect.

I was just making sure, but now that you've said that plus mentioned that we were trained by Skirata I'll just stick to the lingo used in the Hard Contact novel. So we call droids "Tinnies", the DC-17m is the "Deece" or the "Dee-Cee", etc?

Anyone else have any lingo they picked out from the novel that we could document here so everyone knows what it means? I'd have to go through and write stuff down when I notice it, but given how short the book is I could probably do it if people really wanted it.

31 March 2005, 09:50 AM
I remember "endex" for the end of the excersice or when they did something really cool to achieve their mission.

31 March 2005, 12:18 PM
ok...I am currently making the stats for some but you can use almst any of the weapons from the video game Republic Commando...such as the M60 type Trandoshan weapon and others. Someone can even carry an E-Web they can mount in the gunship to...well...I shouldnt be hlping yah:)

ktmoss maybe you should take up the heavy weapons man and get the good stuff:)

1 April 2005, 04:57 PM
seriously. are we going to do the warroom stuff here or in the ic thread. because with 7 people we have quite a few different options of how to take this building down. i have a coipole different ideas. let me know when and where we're gonna discuss it.

1 April 2005, 07:11 PM
Plan - ugh - I hate planning:)

So - here's the extent of my military thinking - 2 or 3 teams, striking from more than one direction but still able to provide support if needed. The roof seems an abvious way to get in - can we use a drop ship and come in a side window? Coming in off the ground seems dangerous to me - too many places to be sniped.

We don't know exaclty where in the building we need to go so we should just plan on a rapid cleansing - room to room as fast as we can - rapid room clearning - lots of grenades?:) We need to keep our escape route secure - huhm.

So a drop on the roof of 4 - secure the roof - 3 in the side or bottom - then 2 stay on the roof once it is secure - 2 got down as the 3 go up.

I don't know if we have the manpower to secure the roof and bottom floor but maybe we should think about it.

There's my OOC thoughts. ICly - experience tells me plans go to hell - so why bother:)

1 April 2005, 08:54 PM
I thought we planned after the briefing? Anyways:

Insert our heavy weapons guy and our sniper at a range where they can still attack the building, and have them take down the turret; then drop through the skylight and work our way down?

Or something like that. You can have the best plan and it'll still hit the fan once you're there.

2 April 2005, 05:35 AM
Hehehehe...Ilove hearing you guys plan. Don't forget the spider droid in the cargo bay at the bottom floor.

max ordo
2 April 2005, 07:27 AM
emp grenade. throw 3 in that room before entering let the short all droids out. hit the spider with the anti armor attachment on the dc17 lower level cleared. sbd shorted out take them down as we go by.

2 April 2005, 08:10 AM
hmm, let me have a good look at teh map, and then I will decide on what I think is the best strat.

Caamasi Jedi49

2 April 2005, 11:16 AM
Ugh Sorry guys, I havn't posted ive hmmm shall we say detained. Ill post today....

2 April 2005, 02:16 PM
Do we have access to shoulder fired concussion missles or something. Hit the two turrets at the same time. Insert by air tho the roof. Hole in plastisteel drop in EMPs. Go down do room clearing secure from top down. The most resistance is on the bottom floor because they probably think the turrets have air control. Fragging their plan for the defense causes mayhem. At that point droids react badly(as do most in that situation). The more mayhem we cause them the less they will be able to respond with organized resisdence. If it was organics I'd use plenty of flash and stun grenades to shake it up.
Personally I think we should set the Heavy Weapons and Sniper up outside. The heavy weapons guy set up with a E-web or something like it and just pound on the outside of the place from a distance to shake them up, and the sniper takes out targets of opportunity.
Just some suggestions from this end

2 April 2005, 02:26 PM
What about a underbarrel Ion striker attachment for 'Gig'. I like that idea

2 April 2005, 04:09 PM
If we go by top, I suggest, if the intel is correct, to use demolitions on them and take em out when were leaving or they become active. From the top, break the sun roof and then use wire to jump down to the mid lvl. This is where our heavy weapons guy comes in. He will provide support agaisnt the Destroyer droid.
If we go from the bottom, we do a standard breach, throwing 'nades in first, two to the right of the door, two to the left, the closest to the door throwing in the 'nades. The remaining will be standing back from the door to fire the intial shots into the room. The sniper will we be afar covering our back and telling us if anything is going on outside. Charge into the building, taking out the remaining bd's. Another breach manuever before we enter the room with the Spider droid. Our Heavy weapons dude will not be in the breach manuever, and will stand in front of the door facing where the Spider will possible be. The heavy weapons guy will again be taking out the the DD, but he will be the second in. Another will go in instead first. Then the rest will fan out and help secure the room.
We will take who we need hostage to get the information we need, and then find out whos in charge. We will take him, and either kill the others or leave them behind, which ever is safer for our mission.

So, what do you think guys? A sound strat?

Caamasi Jedi49

2 April 2005, 04:59 PM
Make sure you work out the order of entry carefully. Heavy should always bring up the rear. Too heavy to move quickly through a intial engagement area till room is either clear or secure enough for him to bring up the rear and secure direction of rear-advancement(retreat, just never call it that) The 'package guy' namely Gig being the slicer should be in the center of the line of entry. He gets capped you have to try and keep a organic target alive long enough to get him to give you access. (Not saying this to save my own butt. Just that the target of this particular mission is his specialty). Clear each room completely before moving on. Keep communication constant with either comms or hand signals. Check around all corners and windows before proceeding. This sounds like it will slow you down, but it will save your life. One guy popping up in the middle of your group can make for a bad day (Believe me). Just keep the pace steady.
I'd still prefer taking the turrets at the same time as entry just in case a air extract is needed. Might be stuck at the entrance after the mission and not be able to get near the roof. Shoulder fired boom booms from a distance is preferable to on the spot demo. Less you have to lug through a free fire zone. A fire and drop shoulder fired system just has to be carried to a spot near the engagement.

Hey an idea. How thick are the walls? What if we make our own entrance? Find a weak are in the wall and boom.

max ordo
2 April 2005, 10:52 PM
This is my suggestion. we have 7 people. have one squad of 4 (heavy weapons and demo) hit the ground level. rapid entry(blow the friggin door in lob 2 emp grenades through the opening before entering. then two on each side of the door until emp's go off(don't wanna take out their HUD's) the emps disable the SBD's in the large section leaving the spider in the smaller chamber in the back. have heavy weapons concentrate fire on that while th other 3 split and find cover then use the anti-armor attachments and all concentrate fire on the spider. should bring him down fairly quickly. yeah lower level cleared (as far as intel is concerned and we know thats not gonna be 100% but all we got). At the same time have the other 3 members of the team on a gunship come in on the top floor. gunship can either drop team on the non functioning turret side or take both turrets out on approach. the three man team repells off the gunship hits the roof running (Gig needs to be with them) have someone with decent demolitions (a few ranks should do) use some det-tape around the skylight and blow it. (rapid entry is great) the three man tean proceds to the middle floor. then synchronize between both teams via comm and hit middle floor from top and bottom at the same time drop the 4 hostiles (takeing prisoners is not an option, be honest) Gig the proceeds to slice into the computer there and DL the info we need, everyone back to the top gunship comes back and evac's all. (if you really wanna leave an impression have mr.demo rig some explosives on the lower level before they hit the middle floo so that when we extract he hits a button on a detonator and we watch the building fall in on itself.

3 April 2005, 12:27 PM
I like that idea.

Me and Ktmoss spoke via PM last week (about RL stuff)...he may just be busy.

Guys, keep in mind that you're bred to follow Jedi and trust them implicity, they're your commanding officers at the start of the Clone Wars. Keep in mind the way Darman and the others viewed Jedi in Hard Contact.
Keep Jedi-hating for when we reach the end of the Clone Wars...;)

5 April 2005, 07:52 AM
Jedi Hating? Oh no no no you forget my character was trained by one of the Jedi, He makes remarks sure, But his loyalty to them is is comparable to a Wookiees to a Life Debt Partner. So when it comes to the Jedi Purge He will side with them, Period

5 April 2005, 08:10 AM

5 April 2005, 02:20 PM
Its not hating, its distrust. Im taking a cue from Alpha and his reaction to jedi padiwans. I assure you, that I would be more civil if this was a knight or a master. But I consider him an untrained Jedi, not ready to fight a war. Just so you know.

As such, any MT should have a bit more perspective than the average Clone. Jedi aren't godlike, they have their faults & foibles as well. Clearly they can pull stunts off that border on near-magical, but IMHO it'd be more an attitude of respect than the slavish worship shown by Clone Troops.

An inept/unprepared Padawan would get some well-intended reality-checks, and a figurative kick in the pants if necessary from an MT whereas most of your compatriots would be loath to even bring it up.

Simply put, Padawan starts screwing up, while the rest of the team would grit their teeth & suck it up, the MT will haul Junior aside and clue him in before it gets worse, or someone hurt/killed.

Right Ronin? :D

Nope, be grateful he will pull Commander Klutz aside rather than let him do something stupid that'll get y'all killed...or worse.

Odd thing I've noticed, Padawan ranks as a Commander, a Master is also a General. What about a Knight, Colonel?

7 April 2005, 03:39 PM
I woudl guess a Colonel, Lt.Colonel, or a Major. Those are the three possible CO's positions they could have if under a Masters command. But, they can also be Generals, since Anikan Skywalker is called General Skywalker in ROTS.

What's the status of this game?

If TK is gone then can we have someone else take over as GM? I'd hate to have gone through all this trouble and then have everyone just abandon the game.

7 May 2005, 01:35 AM
I haven't heard back from TK....I agree that it'd be a shame for Sigma squad to die out before a shot is fired.
Any of you PCs wanna take to the other side of the table?

We're hoping to merge you and whoever survives Eye of the Storm into two five-man squads for mission two. This'll be set maybe around three months into the Clone Wars (about the same time Delta squad is doing Hard Contact, which I hope you've read;) ).

Indeed! Though we're gonna have 2 squads and 3 sergeants (Fengis, Deuce and Papi)...so we'll have to work that out soon.

Papi, Gig and God, please check in at the 22nd OOC thread and take part in the weapons vote (post #221). You'll also find out who your new GM is :)
We may as well run everything from that thread for now.
