Hi!

I haven't read the X-Wing novels (I know I should :wedge: ) but I've heard that there are slang expressions for different fighters, such as wishbone for the Y-Wing and eyeball for the Tie. Can you tell me some of the others?

Thanks!

Brights: TIE advanced.

I want to say there's one for Defenders as well, but I can't think of it and i can't think of any instance in those novels where they run into them. Seeing as how the earlier novels, at least, had times where you could actually remember the X-Wing game scenario that's being described, I want to say the Rogues maybe once talked about Defenders, calling them...Trips? anyone out there wanna back me up or shoot me down?

and hisham, that's Imp academy terminology? Guess I shouldn't challenge you, it's quoted and sourced after all, but wasn't there a scene in, um, Bacta War(?), where Corran was about to steal a TIE, and as ground control was asking for his status, he said something like, "one Eyeball, ready to go." And that tipped off the bad guys that something was wrong (cuz he was using the wrong term)?

It's been ages since i read those, though.

and i can't remember a single nickname for Reb/NRep snubs at all.

In I, Jedi, Corran refers to Y-Wings as "bones", I think meaning wishbones. He had names for B-Wings, A-Wings, and X-Wings, but I can't remember what they are at the moment.

Defenders/Tavira's Uglies are referred to as Trips or clutches unfortunately almost interchangeably.

Xs are pointers.

YTIES are Die-Wings.

The nicks may be Piratical, Rebel/Republic, or may just be commonplace.

A-W: Slim
B-W: Cross
X-W: Pointer
Y-W (Wish)Bone
Z-95 Skull

(Rebel/NR)
T/F - Eyeball
T/B - Dupe
T/I - Squint
T/A - Bright
T/D - Trip

Five from each side. ;)

Is there a slang for the K-Wing or the E-Wing?

Yes, but I don't remember exactly what they are.

And technically a clutch is one of Tavira's fighters.
