POSTING GUIDELINES

With there being ten of you playing, it goes without saying that some guidelines should be set down for how posting for the campaign will go. This way, this can proceed in as orderly a fashion as we can manage, and that means more fun for all.

Combat:

- Combat will proceed in 4-5 round increments. This means that when you make your combat post, you need to plan ahead several rounds and give actions for what it is you want your character to be doing for the duration. If you aren't very specific then you leave it up to the GM to interpret your character's actions for those rounds.

- During combat, the GM will make all dice rolls.

- After all players have made their combat posts (or the alotted time to post has passed), the GM will post the results of those actions as well as enemy movements. The process then repeats until the players are out of combat.

- Once you have made a combat post, do not post again until the GM has posted the results.

Non-Combat:

When not in combat, you are free to post as much as you like without restriction (except the ability for your fellow posters to keep up).

- In a non-combat situation, players are able to make skill checks and post their own result.

PACE

I like to keep things moving but also realize that life obligations sometimes prevent players and even the GM from posting as often as necessary.

My style of PbP will take largely from my experiences in the PBeM realm. Things will be done in "turns". A turn is the GM post that describes what has happened, what is happening as a result of player actions done since the previous turn, and then moves the action forward from that point. After the turn post has been made, players may begin posting with their character's reactions. When it comes to combat, a turn will simply take the form of each 4-5 round segment.

Since the message board environment is in some ways a faster medium then email, I can see there being a lot more player-GM interaction between non-combat turns. Not to mention, email wasn't as easily accessible 10+ years ago as it is today, resulting in much slower response times from players.

Typically, I'd like there to be a new turn every week. Depending on reponse times and the amount of action going on, turns may happen more or less frequently than this.

More to come as player's finalize their characters.

concentrated detonite and is packaged in 5-meter rolls. It is ideal for controlled explosions directed against specific parts of a target (such as the seal of a door or airlock).

Detonite tape is very easy and safe to use, reducing the DC by 15 points when using Demolitions to "Build Explosive from Scratch." Note that if the Demolitions check fails by 10+ points, the explosives detonate prematurely (see SWRPG Core Rulebook, p.73, for details). However, detonite tape has a shelf life of only 10 years or so. Beyond this age, detonite is increasingly unstable and prone to premature detonation and, therefore, the DC is not reduced.

A full 5-meter roll of detonite tape inflicts 4d6+1 damage in the 2-meter-by-2-meter square in which it explodes. If a smaller portion of the tape is used, divide the damage the fraction of the tape used (round down).

Example: If you use 1 meter of detonite tape, roll 4d6+1 damage and divide by five (1 meter = 1/5 of 5 meters).

Likewise, multiple rolls of detonite can be used for a greater effect. Multiply the damage dice by the number of rolls used. However, for every five rolls used, add +5 to the DC of the Demolitions check.

Tiny amounts of detonite tape (2-10 cm) are ideal for very precise damage such as cutting wires or destroying control circuitry. If used in this way, detonite tape adds a +4 equipment bonus to Disable Device attempts.

Detonite tape is perfect for blowing open doors, airlocks, blast doors, and similar obstacles. Essentially, the D-tape is used to break the object (instead of attempting to destroy it, see SWRPG Core Rulebook p.147). Make a Demolitions check against the listed DC for the item, adding a +8 equipment bonus for every 5 meters of D-tape used. If successful, the door is blown open (but not necessarily destroyed).

Detonite tape requires a timer or detonator to function. This item is restricted, generally requiring an extensive background check and license to be purchased legally (generally adding 100% to the cost).

NOTE: See Gundark's Fantastic Technology: Personal Gear, p.44, for D6 stats.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Detonite Tape - d20 Stats
Item: Merr-Sonn Munitions Compound Flex-5 Detonite Tape
Cost: 1,500 credits (for 5 meters of tape)
Weight: 1.5 kg
Damage: 4d6+1

^ I was wondering. This would be much better for my role as Demolitions. Mind if I swap out my Thermal Detonators for it?

Ah....
Home sweet home.

Anyway, Storm's idea is some kinda good. As an ''''Infiltrator'''' (double quote signs!) mesa tinks that this would be better than a thermal detonator.:D

BTW Storm do you have any problem if I call you Ororo:P

Background:

Fear.

Fear will keep the countless, nameless, disorganized, alien-infested worlds of the Galactic Empire in line. Fear of power; fear of strength.

Fear of men like Zan Massok.

Born to nobility on the bacta-rich world of Thyferra (http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Thyferra), Zan is a man bred for power. The Massoks of Thyferra are the chief lieutenants to the vastly powerful Zaltin (http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Zaltin) family, one of Emperor Palpatine's hand-picked bacta cartel suppliers. As a youth, he knew both luxury and hardship; the Massoks spend lavishly on their lifestyles, but subject their sons to brutal military discpline and rigid educations.

A graduate of the prestigious Corulag (http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Corulag) Preparatory Academy as a youth, he went on to enter the Imperial Military Academy on Carida (http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Academy_of_Carida). Zan finished his Preliminary Training with high marks for precision, self-discipline, and punctuality. Upon graduation, Zan had his choice of a dozen high-profile command assignments. Instead, he picked one considered highly unikely by his family: a Sub-Lieutenant's commission with the Stormtrooper Corps (http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Imperial_Stormtrooper_Corps).

He knows the "normal" track for a man of his station is command duty, followed by an ever-climbing series of political appointments; Zan prefers to "get his hands dirty" in the ongoing struggle to defend the Empire. He wished to earn his way to greater rank through service with the anonymous, fearsome Stormtrooper Corps.

After serving with distinction in the 1055th Stormtrooper Corps, Zan was recently offered and accepted a post in the newly-formed Imperial Special Forces.

In the fight against the burgeoning "rebel alliances," Zan is stalwart defender of Emperor Palpatine and his New Order. He believes in the Emperor, and in the lawfulness and rightness of the Empire, but he is not "evil" or cruel at heart; Zan will simply carry out lawful orders with whatever methods are appropriate and allowed. All that matters is that the misguided misinformed opponents of the Rightful Ruler be put down, and the seeds of rebellion be destroyed.

Zan is trained for leadership, and aims to lead a Special Forces detachment. His training has focused on both classical and asymmetrical warfare studies. He firmly believes that a successful counter-insurgency force must learn from the guerrilla tactics of its foes. Zan has also received specialized training in counter-intelligence, interrogation, and information warfare tactics.

Personality: Zan is so "noble" that he refuses to treat his fellow soldiers differently because they weren't born Noble, as he was. Just because you are the sons of inbred provincials doesn't automatically mean that you are inferior soldiers. Prove your worth in service to the Lawful Order, and you will have earned Zan's acceptance. Follow orders. Do and die, as the Emperor and his duly appointed officers tell you to, and Zan will pay no mind to your ignorant Rim-World dialect, your slop-room humor, or your atrocious table manners, you peasant. All Glory to the Emperor.

Storm - Yeah, that's fine to use.

Mack - Well, I guess posting in initiative order would help me, so yes. :)

Bocce - I was actually going to post all the character stats in here as well in one post, once I had received them all. No worry though.

TK-195 seems to have gone missing as I haven't seen a post from him since Sept 21. TK if you're out there somewhere, show some signs of life! If I haven't by the time everyone else has submitted everything to me, I'm going to have to start up and create an NPC to fill in your spot.

That'll slow combat down a bit, and now I know what you've meant with one combat turn per week (this is no critic, only a statement that I've realized what you meant).
I think Maxwell Kane has the right to get a nickname too... I'll take "Fritz". :D

Jacen Berg Adult Male Human Soldier 4/Scout 1; Init +9 (+5 Dex, +4 Imp Init); Defense 19 (+6 class, +5 Dex, -2 Multiclass); Spd 10m (6m w/ Armor); VP/WP 52/12; Atk +6 melee (2d4+2/20, Vibrodagger) or +9 ranged (2d10/20, .50 Heavy Slugrifle) or +9 ranged (2d6/20, 9mm Autoloader); Sv Fort +6, Ref +7, Will +2; Str 15, Dex 20, Con 12, Int 13, Wis 10, Cha 8.

Equipment: Commando Armor (DR 4), .50 Heavy Slugrifle w/ gun camo and Merr-Sonn NonSonic Silencer/Flash Suppressor and 8 round magazine (xstandard), 9mm Autoloader with Merr-Sonn NonSonic Silencer/Flash Suppressor and 8 round magazine (xstandard), Ghillie Suit (http://holonet.swrpgnetwork.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18146&perpage=1&pagenumber=59), Vibrodagger.

Skills: Climb +6, Craft (Slugthrowers) +8, Demolitions +8, Hide +9, Knowledge (wilderness lore) +8, Knowledge (geography) +8, Listen +4, Move Silently +9, Repair +8, Spot +4, Survival +7, Swim +6.

Feats: AP (Light, Medium, Powered), Improved Initiative, Point Blank Shot, Far Shot, Skill Emphasis (Survival), WGP (Blaster pistols, rifles, heavy, simple, vibro, slugthrowers).

Background Jacen Berg grew up on the 450th floor of a Coruscani high rise. His father was a high power Imperial Senator, and lived like it. Jacen went to some of the best schools available, got great grades, and was destined to follow in his father's footsteps. Jacen had other ideas though. When he was 10, he saw an ad on the Holonet for the Imperial Storm Commandoes, the best of the best. Ever since then, he had wanted to be in that dull gray armor, protecting the galaxy. He began training to be in the best shape of his life, he practiced his shooting skills when his father was away on business. He practiced with a small slugthrower rifle that his father had given him, because it wasn't as dangerous as a blaster. He learned to love the slugthrower, because it was able to be silenced, and he could sneak up on somebody with it. It also didn't give as many heat signatures as a blaster, which was helpful for hiding. When he was 18, he joined up with the Imperial Army, where he was posted in the 419th Stormtrooper Regiment. There he earned his stripes as a marksman, becoming his squad's sniper. After a failed mission, where almost all enemies had been vanquished from a distance by Jacen, he earned the nickname "Flea", because he was so hard to see and just kept biting. He was then chosen by the Storm Commandoes, and is en route to his first squad...

Appearance: Jacen Berg is a strapping young man, with average height weight, and brown hair. He has penetrating green eyes, and a scar that runs from his right cheek to his chin. He usually has his gun strapped to his back, with his pistol in a holster on his left thigh. His ghillie suit can be quickly modded to reflect different climates, although the standard is a jungle pattern

The transfer is finished. Here I am, BY-412, reporting and able for duty sir!

Lt. BY-412 : Male Human Soldier 5; Init +3 (+3 Dex); Defense +17 (+6 class, +3 Dex); Spd 8m ;VP/WP 51/12; Atk+8 ranged (3d8/19-20 Heavy gun T-21, range 40 m) or +7/+2/ ranged(3d4+1, 20 Hold out HSB-200, range 4m) ; SV Fort +7, Ref +6, Will +2; SZ M; Rep 0; Str 16, Dex 14, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 8, Cha 5, Challenge Code C.

Equipment: Storm Commando armor (DR 4), T-21 light repeater, Blastech HSB-200 Hold Out blaster pistol, Power pack (5x), Utility belt, Military grade comlink

Skills: Astrogate +5, Climb +4, Demolitions +4, Knowledge (tactics) +8, Listen +3, Move Silently +4, Profession (military officer) +3, Survival +5, Treat Injury +3, Hide +5, Search +4, Spot +4

Feats: Armor Proficiency (medium & powered), Far Shot, Prescise Shot, Point Blank Shot, Weapon Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons), Iron Will

Background: BY-412 always obeys orders, and gives orders when the time is in the right place. Having the rank of Leutinent, BY-412 takes his job very seriously, like the other Stormtroopers. However, his expertise is Heavy Weapons is what landed him a spot on the Storm Commando platoon. He is a very well postured soldier, and hardly ever takes his armor and uniform off. He isn't always a quiet guy, and he can make a strong debate if need be. But the care and concern for his squad, not to mention his miltary skills, will be a great asset to the Storm Commandos. He wasn't really born into a family. He was raised among those who were nearly identical to himself. Since this was, BY-421 never really knew that not everyone is different. He was immediately shipped off after he was done with training on the immense Super-class Star Destroyer, Avenger, and was instantly shown that not everyone is the same. He was thrust into the heat of battle, in which he single handledly captured 13 Rebel troops in the liberation of the resistsance on Raxis Prime. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Then, he and six others entered another battle and rescued a highly decorated officer, a Colonel and his three men, a Major a Captain and a Sgt. Major, from a platoon of Rebels on Naboo. He and the other six were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He had then been called on to join the Storm Commando platoon, an elite group of soldiers for the Empire. He specializees in heavy weaponry.

Appearance: BY-412 is basically the gentic clone Storm Trooper of Jango Fett. Though long dead, BY-412 is very aware of what happened so many years ago. Basically the looks, short black crew-cut hait, scar across left eye, and around 5'10"- 6'0" tall. However, like most other Storm Troopers, the accent has been lost. BY-412 has the newly issued Storm Commando gear.

If the four of them are gone then that's fine. It's an even number and I'll just consolidate the rest of you. It isn't like I have to have ten players to run this...it may even work better with less.

On another note, I'll have all the character stats posted here tonight.

I'll give the other 3 no-shows-to-date until tomorrow night and then post the next part of the prologue. Maybe they'll catch up. Couple things:

When it comes to ranks I'm leary of defining stuff too rigidly. As I've said before, I don't forsee ranks becoming a definitive part of this campaign, but I won't totally discount the possibility. Of course, there's also the need for story purposes. Since it was mentioned before that you guys wish to see NCOs as well as COs, I'll put you into a ranking scheme as such. Only the squad leaders will be COs, the rest will be NCOs.

Storm, It's fine being Force Sensitive, but I don't really like the bit in the history about the Imperial military wanting a force sensitive soldier among their ranks. With standard Imperial doctrination, Imps are bred to hate/distrust those capable of using the force. I think the only people who would willingly trust a force user are the Emperor and Darth Vader, and that would be only as far as they could throw you (which in the case of Vader, may be quite a ways).

Edit. Done. I've made it so the Rebellion is the one who took her. Is this acceptable....I'm basing it off the fact that even the Alliance has to have extremists..and what better target than the daughter of an Imperial officer?

Works for me. I certainly understand the desire to not get locked into anything too rigid. I think we only wanted/needed to know how our characters would address one another.

So yeah, by all means, only give us as much "detail" as you need. No one wants to get bogged down in trivial stuff. ;)

All my appologies.
Well you possibly know what is coming right now... but to make it official:
I'm out of this game.
This is nothing against the acting players or against the GM (you, TG) it's just that RL is cracking me up at the moment and I don't have the time anymore to constantly check on the Holonet each day. I hope you guys will understand and especially keep a back door for me (and my char) open.
I'm still interested in this game but I don't know when and how I have the possibility to clear my schedule. But I think sooner or later this will happen. And therefore... I'm still around and am planing to rejoin this team sooner or later.
Hope you guys understand.:(

With the leaving of Uron I had to shuffle squads around and get a new squad leader. I just randomly picked one. However, djas does not qualify for per the rules I laid out (actually no one else does except Bocce) so you will not receive the Leadership SQ.

The TBD will be an NPC character for this mission since I'm closing the campaign for new players. The next turn should be out by early next week which will start up the action and not allow for someone new to jump in.

“Corporal Alex Mirion (Shagadm)”

Just noticed (how long was it there?) and I am really excited for coming in this campaign I loved the clone/storm troopers in star wars. I am a little disappointed that we don’t get the white uniforms but I can live with that.
So get ready for a lot of “for the emperor!!” or “take this rebel scam!” in the fights and a lot of “SIR YES SIR!”, “eager to serve” and “affirmative” when giving me orders. Tell me now if this is going to be a problem.

Okay I'll repost my character to this thread. Also TG, this is what the basic Stormtrooper armor give you.

+2 equipment bonus on Spot and Listen checks
+2 equipoment bonus on Fortitude saving throws made to resist hostile environments

If you wear Snowtroopers or Destert Trooper armor you get a +6 Fortitude saving bonus to resist said environment.

I just had a question about this for clarification. Is the Diamond formation anywhere close to an Arrowhead formation?

djas_puhr
29 November 2005, 09:58 AM
Diamond:

............N

W......................E

............S

Sorta...

N is point
E, W and S are the firing teams for the squad if it was large enough to use three firing teams. Since we only have five members and one is on point that leaves two on the right and two on the rear. Should we ever get one or two more troopers they would take up the left. HTH.

Background: Krogan is fiercely loyal to the Imperial New Order. He believes whole heartily that aliens are scum especially after they "stole" his father's job from his and reduced him to drinking and spice use. He was a street urchin after fleeing his home when his father sold his mother to slavers for spice and would have sold him also. He hates the alien "scum" for what they reduced his father who was a great man at one time. When Imperial recruiters offered citizens the chance to serve the Empire and the Imperial New Order he joined up without hesitation. He is the model soldier of the New Order. He follows orders without pause or remorse. In his mind the Empire is family and is justified in whatever they do. He is straight soldier from the ground up. Leadership ethos: Lead from the front and demand disciple from your men to make them the ultimate of precision for carrying out missions to preserve the Imperial way of life. To shirk your duty to the Empire is a failing on the human race and should be considered a crime punishable by death. (He has been known to carry out floggings on a regular basis for violators of Military Code of Conduct.)

Feats: Armor proficiency (light, powered), Heroic Surge, Martial arts, Skill emphasis (move silently), Stealthy, Weapon Group (Blaster pistols, rifles, Heavy weapons, Vibro weapons, Simple weapons)

Background: Alex entered the imperial army to avoid a bounty on his head. He was being chased by a band of bounty hunters set by the Galor the hut and the only place he could hide was inside a storm troopers barracks. When he was discovered by a storm trooper he was mistaken for a recruit, a mistake Alex encouraged, and was sent to boot camp. Since his recruitment Alex has grown to like the imperials soldier job, the killing part mostly. He has become one off the best infiltrators and he enjoys the hunt of rebels, especial those that believe the old ways about the force.

Name: Alex Mirion
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Height: 1,86 m
Weight: 80 kg
Home World: Corusant
Known Family: none

Description: Alex is a well built man that could be a good looking human if it wasn’t for his thin skulking face, which makes his very spooky. He tries to pass unnoticed if possibly and always stays at the shadows. When he wants to pass time he practices with his vibro dagger. Despite his background Alex is loyal to the emperor, partly because he knows anything else means death, but mostly because he enjoys his work.

Ps: I am planning to take the infiltrator prc form the heroes guide.

Jacen Berg Adult Male Human Soldier 4/Scout 1; Init +9 (+5 Dex, +4 Imp Init); Defense 19 (+6 class, +5 Dex, -2 Multiclass); Spd 10m (6m w/ Armor); VP/WP 52/12; Atk +6 melee (2d4+2/20, Vibrodagger) or +9 ranged (2d10/20, .50 Heavy Slugrifle) or +9 ranged (2d6/20, 9mm Autoloader); Sv Fort +6, Ref +7, Will +2; Str 15, Dex 20, Con 12, Int 13, Wis 10, Cha 8.

Equipment: Commando Armor (DR 4), .50 Heavy Slugrifle w/ gun camo and Merr-Sonn NonSonic Silencer/Flash Suppressor and 8 round magazine (xstandard), 9mm Autoloader with Merr-Sonn NonSonic Silencer/Flash Suppressor and 8 round magazine (xstandard), Ghillie Suit, Vibrodagger.

History:
Kane was born on the backwater world of Thule. There are only few records of his life before he joined the Empire. He worked as assassine for one of the minor local crime lords and got out of this job as his former employer got kill in an assassination attempt done by henchmen of an other crime lord. Kane was tiered of being one of the pawns controlled by some self-proclaimed crime lords and thought of an life of structure and order.
The next entry in his file was made as he got cought breaking into the imperial training facility on Thule. Well actually he was cought as he made an attempt to forge his application he handed in the day before. He knew that he had no chance being accepted for the imperial training programm and therefore he started to intrude the building with knocking down two Stormtroopers. As he was cought the local governor decided measuring the capabilties of this young delinquent that he was trained under adversial conditions to see how this man would react to those threats.
After month of training with nontheless 4 hours of sleep every night he was called in the personal security of the governor and made it quick to top of it. As he prevented the governor from being killed by an assassine sent by one of Thules crime lords he got the assignement to infiltrate the this crimelords organization and to kill the crime lord without being heared, seen or noticed.
Days after he had finished this assignement he was ordered to the Imperial Storm Commandos where he spend the last few month fighting and infiltrating rebel facilities.
Appearance:
On first sight you see a handsome white face with brown eyes and dark brown hair. To everybody who talked more than half an hour to him is revealed that he is a hard and masochistic man who enjoys killing the most. He believes in the New Order brought to the known galaxy by the Empire and he’s proud to be a part of it.
Short-tempered reacting to every comrade who thinks about insulting the Empire he’ll have his two Slugthrower pistols at hand to convince everyone. But while infiltrating a facility and this sometimes combines both the slow unseen infiltration and the seen subtle he manages so far to keep his temper in control. Otherwise he would have died.

P.S.: I changed the Character Classes a bit so that it'll fit more what I wanted him to be. :D

Background:

Fear.

Fear will keep the countless, nameless, disorganized, alien-infested worlds of the Galactic Empire in line. Fear of power; fear of strength.

Fear of men like Zan Massok.

Born to nobility on the bacta-rich world of Thyferra, Zan is a man bred for power. The Massoks of Thyferra are the chief lieutenants to the vastly powerful Zaltin family, one of Emperor Palpatine's hand-picked bacta cartel suppliers. As a youth, he knew both luxury and hardship; the Massoks spend lavishly on their lifestyles, but subject their sons to brutal military discpline and rigid educations.

A graduate of the prestigious Corulag Preparatory Academy as a youth, he went on to enter the Imperial Military Academy on Carida. Zan finished his Preliminary Training with high marks for precision, self-discipline, and punctuality. Upon graduation, Zan had his choice of a dozen high-profile command assignments. Instead, he picked one considered highly unikely by his family: a Sub-Lieutenant's commission with the Stormtrooper Corps.

Hey bocce according to the attachment djas made in his last Trader's InfoNet post you can use 32 points for the point buy system not only 30 as TheGunslinger ruled.
So you've got two points to spend in my calculation.

Wow, nice catch, Uron. I'm much obliged. I just cut-and-pasted his stats.

I'll take a look at what I can improve... look of for the New And Improved! Zan in the near future...

(and I guess I better "level-down Custer while I'm at it... :o )

And djas: consider me officially "checked in." :)

Yes Night your in.

Reb source book okay as well as the Storm Commando from the Imp source book. I'll be using the Storm Commando armor found on that site I'll have to retype my intro.

BTW how do I create a table on the Holonet. I'm trying to do a table to show the ranks for both Officer and Enlisted.

I just noticed that forgot the Armor Proficiency (Medium) what is a prerequesition for the Armor Proficiency (Powered).
Just as a side note.
Nonetheless I'm almost done with Maxwell Kane (my char). I'll post it here soon.

Oh yes you are correct. I had seen it also just before playing and had sent a correction note to our previous gm, but I got this copy of my char from an older file.
To our current GM: just replace the heroic surge with armor prof medium

edit: this also means i check in

I was wondering if I could still check in even though I'm 2 days late. Sorry I've been gone so long, I've just been busy with the end of Christmas break and school has been keeping me away. What do you say, can I still come in?

Skywalker... Do to past events... Some of us are not comfortable playing with you. We cannot let you back in do to this. Give us some time to forget and be able to give another chance. This is not personal... Just the truth... I'm sure you'll turn out to be a decent player with experience.
