Welcome to the new thread. First of all, I'd like everyone to let me know of any and all corrections that need to be made to your characters. As of now, I'll be using stats as stated above. If any changes need to be made, now's the time to speak up.

Also, If there's anything else you guys think would be helpful to have on this first post, let me know.

Finally, bocce, you might want some equipment before tackling the imps. ;) I know we discussed some possiblities, and there's going to be some time for RP before you really need it, but just keep it in mind. :)

Also, Vanger, whenever you get your updated stat block to me, I'll put it up.

Updated stat block sent by IM. JC77 really pumps up TechSpec.

Donovan & Rostek need charpics, If you want to put the full charpack online, I'm sure we can make room on my & KS' site where the rest of them are (link is in Terras' .sig). B)

Well, beggin your pardon Mr. GM, but I did pick out equipment:

I was hoping to get the OK on the list. Thanks in advance. ;)

Also, attached is a Koss headshot for your very cool character record post.

Charpic for Kell- It's an ISB file photo, so it's very grainy and black and white (taken from his last mission as Kell fled the scene).
It's an edited photo of actor John C. Reilly- who is the guy I kind of thought of when creating Kell (the photo's added some more hair, but that's about it).

It's been brought to my attention that my IC post wasn't clear. Vooko and Kel are both present, helping Wynn fix her X-wing, at the time the order comes. The 'you' was a 'you'-plural, and applies to Wynn, Vooko, and Kel. Wynn was addressed because she was the ranking officer.

Sorry about that.:o

Slight edits made to my IC post to reflect the clarification about who was attending, plus a bit of "backstory" for the snub Star Dancer

Vanger,
For a character pic, I'll try and track down a good image of James Marster (i.e. Spike of Buffy & Angel fame) sans the "Billy Idol Wannabe" look.

Now to do my part to keep the story going... (dang it, need a devil-horns smiley)

Edit: Post is up

The website's still down as we're having problems getting in touch with the provider after the (Almost-)Yearly Surprise Server Change. If we can't get our current host to give us the nfo, we may have to locate a new host to rebuild the site on.

I've also been having Lazy Muse problems of late, have part of my post written up, but am still filling in the gaps as quickly as I can.

Coldskier0320,
Thanks for the compliment. As for bar comment, it was kinda hard not to add that in after having skimmed through some older OotS comics.

BTW, for any concerned, here's as good an image as I can find that fits my concept of Remy's appearance. The actor in question is Stuart Townsend. I wonder if this will meet with Ris' approval :D

pic looks fine by me Dono ;) If I didn't know better, he looks fairly close semblence to Roy Dupuis (http://www.roydupuis-online.com/gallery.htm)(Nikita, etc)

LOL! just stumbled onto this -=item=- (http://www.roydupuis-online.com/images/gallery/posters/rotr2.jpg) . You might get a slight kick outa this.

soon as our server host gets back up online, yer pic will be going up onine Dono :)

yeah i've been kinda busy, in, out and about, will try to get a post up asap. didnt mean for the delay either.

As a character pic, yes, it's great, Dono. But it doesn't set me heart a-flutter, alas. Try the classic "tall {optional}, dark & handsome" if that's the effect you're wanting. :)
Or were you really wondering what Wynn Antilles thought of him? ;)

Okay:

Ris, I'll have finalized sword stats by tonight at some point.

Everyone: I'm working on the briefing post. I plan to get it on the thread by tonight. If anyone would like to post anything else, speak now or forever hold your peace. :) If you just post here saying you want to make another IC post, I'll hold off until everyone gets a chance. Otherwise, I'll post whenever I'm finished with it. :)

Just a quick note, I'll be updating tonight, but bocce might wanna edit his post. The briefing room isn't set up w/ a conference table, more like a college classroom, with stadium style seating in about 6-8 rows, with a set of shallow steps down the middle.

It doesn't really matter, but its nice for everyone to visualize the same thing. :) I'll have the room's description in the post ;).

Kell was totally unaware of "Captain Koss'" actual rank or position in the command structure. As far as the SpecOpser had gathered, "Captain" was his first name...

FWIW, this is pretty much my assumption too, pending any clarification from the GM. The name "Captain Koss" is overtly a pseudonym, akin to someone in the RW taking the name "Sergeant Rock" (of DC Comics fame) or something...

As far as his actual rank, I assume that he's informally a "captain" in sense similar to Solo when he first joins the Rebellion-- not part of the formal Alliance Military, his "captain" status is observed by courtesy only when he's actually piloting his ship. And for that matter, the ship isn't even technically "his"-- it's on loan from the Alliance. :)

Again, this all my vague assumptions on the matter, and I defer to the GM on the specifics.

(Awesome briefing, by the way... gotta run out on some errands, but will try to get a response up sometime tonight.)

Wouldn't that require a brain first? So far, Koss hasn't shown himself to have much going on between the ear lobes.

Then I've done my RP job correctly. ;) :D
That you have. As a player, I am certainly amused, as are my eyebrows.

Coldskier0320,
Just one last question from the peanut gallery (already posted). Looking over the stats of the rest of group, the answer is pretty evident OOC, but IC never hurts to be sure ;)

Also, sent you a PM with some basic background ideas for Remy. Let me what works and what doesn't.

Argh! You wound me! :D

Entirely kidding... the recent "Of course, it could all be an elaborate act... So much for that theory" post was awesome.

I'm fairly certain this goes without saying, in a veteran RP group like this... but let me just confirm: yes, Koss is a bit... excitable, but I intend that he's really very reliable in a tough situation. I've enjoyed all the reactions so far (spot on, IMO); but I assure you that my plan is he'll "prove himself" when puch come to shove.

But then again, he might really be insane... ;)

He's got his own Windows XP profile thingy that he uses at home, wheras I simply signed in on the limited use "guest" one, since I didn't want to bother him for his password and distract from his finals studies.

And here, ladies and gents, is living proof that sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet (even if the Han Solo smiley next to a direct quote from the Holy Trinity should have indicated such), as even the sarcasm of the reply to said words could be misconstrued as having "not gotten the point" of the original sarcastic reply.

And just to be sure there is no miscommunication, the above paragraph was me being a smartass. ;) :hansolo:

Oh man...you people.:)

OK, I'll post this IC, but as a quick & dirty explanation: to even get TO and FROM the planet, they need to penetrate the mine field and asteroid field. To do this, rebel tactician have decided that the most successful group would be a single small transport w/ a two fighter escort, provided that escort was very highly skilled. With Vooko's recent ISD kill, he's made his way up the list quickly. Now, he and Wynn are the best pair that have flight experience together, proximity to the location, spare fighters, and aren't already spoken for (ie. Rogues).

Dirtside, your role is transferred to more of a support role, however, Intel is no doubt aware of the effects on a group that an ISD killer's ingenuity might have. ;)

But note: Koss is a pilot also. He was objecting to the "slave-pilot" plan on his behalf as well, as he pilots the Moonlight Maiden-- which, it would seem, will be the transportation for 2/3 of the 'team.' ;)

Vanger, Koss is the transport pilot, so that's Kell & Remy's job. Might be a way to return the annoyance...

Incidentally, when we travel with the kids, we set a limit on that & similar questions. It's one "Are we there yet?" or "How long til we get there?" per kid per hour. They always go over the limit--but it still cuts down the # of times we have to hear it.

Hopefully coldskier will gloss over the week and it'll be a quick fade from "you're leaving the base" to "you arrive at the asteroid field, now make those Pilot checks."

LOL Dono! Those and voice command food replicators... :D I'm sure we'd happily do the full week even with the myraids of "are we there yet" ... gotta love the near infinate expanse insides of the holosuits. Won't bother kelvin a slightest bit as he'd be miles away playing in and exploring some new place that only exists as a remote blip on the galaxy nav charts.... Oh wait, the week would come and go too quickly then we'd have to list to Kelvin whining about how the week was too short for the rest of the mission and try bribing koss to circle around again and take the "scenic route" this time while using the backup hyperdrive unit, as he'd find or make-up some sub-section paragraph in every starship owner's manual regarding anual maintenance routines :P :D

Also, stun guns can be problematic to explain. Now, on the other hand, some bantha-strength laxatives in his next meal... well, let's just hope nobody else on the ship has need of the refresher, or we'll truly be going where no man has gone before :D

heheheh, twi'lek gals and a zeltron or few.... Sure! but where we gonna put them? ship's already small enough wall to wall with the few of us occupying it. Well, unless we dump all the excess cargo, and anything non-vital to the ship's operational status like the co-pilot's seat and stuff..

I think DOno's right about this one - for of similar idea of Dr.Who's infinate space within the size of a mere telephone booth, there'd be room for a dozen or two in there :D

stuns or laxatives.... I'd prefer stuns, and risk it. hey, if he saves, just shoot him again and again til he finally fails and drops. might sting like the dickins and have a mega headache afterwards but thats beside the point. Small fresher unit or no, the smell's still gonna leak outa the unit and a ship that small, we're gonna be looking for the nearst airlock hatch when the smell becomes that bad. wearing a rebreather mask for the duration of the whole trip aint exactly my idea of 'campy' :P

hhm, situation - Kelvin clawing at the viewports screamin "lemme out lemme out lemme out!!!!!" while wynn & vook in their snubs with the freighter in view doing the exact same opposite, "Lemme in lemme in lemme in!!!"

Dono - humor is humor :D

How much time in real life do we have to get our characters' equipment "wish-lists" together? Reason I ask is I'm going to have a pretty busy weekend, and so may not have much time to even get a list together, much less post one.
Thanks,

And I'll pass on the lime shrimp ramen, thank you very much ;)

What do we really need? (I guess this is a question for my fellow players, moreso than for the GM... bu feel free to chime in, GM!).

Koss currently has:
blaster rifle, frag grenade (2), heavy blaster pistol, ion gun pistol, padded flight suit, stun grenade (2), vibroblade, vibrodagger; comlink (2), credit chip (2), datapad, field kit, grappling spike launcher (2), macrobinoculars, medpac (4), power pack (4), recording rod, tool kit; total 37.8 kg.

I assume that Kelvin will requisition all the necessary "survival" gear, like tents, light sources, portable generators, food, etc.

I thought of maybe getting a few more rifles, carbines, pistols, powerpacks, grenades, etc. to stock the Maiden with, in the event our carried weapons are lost or damaged.

But I can't think of much else. Anybody want to talk it over OOC?

Take as much time as you all need to come up with your wish lists, as you've taken to calling them. Solitude is a fairly well stocked station (it is a supply depot of sorts), so you probably will get everything you ask for. Within reason of course.

Also, Kelvin need not req. ALL the woodsy gear. If you want to do it that way, its fine. just not necessary. ;)

I'd encourage you to talk it out OOC before you submit your reqs.

I'll probably have a the best light armor I can get along with the blaster rifle, pistol and vibroknife (as listed in the old stats...) and basic survival gear.
In addition to that, maybe snooper goggles for the party. Some explosives perhaps- maybe the old grenade in a can trick can be implemented in the lack of any Claymore-style mines which could be used to deter opposition.
I just had a thought- could I get access to a Viper2 underbarrel grenade launcher for the rifle? It would allow for a heavy bit of firepower in a small package.

I think you can break that down a bit. It takes a move action to reload one tube, hence 5 for a full reload (or doing so out of combat). Having worked a bit with the M-203 Grenade Launcher as well as a variety of military weapons, I'd house-rule that it can be hand-loaded at a rate of once per combat round if empty. Using a move action you grab nother 'nade & shove it into the barrel, then it's able to be fired.

Slows you down, but when you're backed that far into a corner does moving really matter anyway? :P

BTW, don't expect Vooko to be asking for much in weaponry, kid really sucks with a blaster. ;)

Sigh... I hate saying it again, but this time, I think I've really got a little free-time back... the last couple weeks have been absolutely jam-packed-- especially the last 7-8 days. It was sleep, eat, work, eat, repeat... for days on end... (well, there were a couple late-nights at the bar in there too... but it's all part of the territory. ;) )

It's supposed to slow down now for awhile (not counting a weekend project I picked up, and an impending date with the root canal specialist, and, well, all the other stuff that always intrudes on gaming time... :o ) The bottom line: I'm ready and raring to game, and will try my darndest (darnedest? darntest?) to get back to it.

Fair enough. But understand that while I've never tried to make this a "fast" game, I insist that it keeps "steady" among its descriptors. If things get busy for you again, please give me advanced warning, or at least a heads up. OK? :)

Dono, I have just about all the books, including the A&EG. But thanks for offering to help.

BTW, am I correct in the assumption that what we're listing on the datapads is additional equipment in addition to what we already have?

You are correct. :)

As for the grenade launcher, I'm leaning toward not allowing it. You can still ask for it, but chances of getting it are slim. If you need to sate your thirst for such things, check out some of the launchers in the A&EG, particularly the underbarrel.

And again we have another round of posts! You guys are great. :)

Well, unless i've missed something, i've pretty much covered the group's survival gear, can always skim it over again. Unless ya want me to crack open some of my d6 books, as wotc hasn't covered everything, just the basics.

And Koss seemingly covered the group's warfare & munitions.

At this rate, Kelvin's going to have to secure the group some alternative means of ground transportation, if we all keep loadin up ;)

Cold, now that we've done the long-waited joint IoT IC post, we need to agree on stats for Wynn's Aldaraan blaster & what she ha in the way of a maintenance kit for it. She would be taking very good care of that item--and I'll even tweak skill points from this last level-up to get her a few ranks in gunsmith if that's what you require. which might not be a bad idea anyways.

Maintenance really doesn't require Gunsmith. Anyone with enough training and interest can take excellent care of a weapon, inluding replacing some parts.

Military weaponry tends to be designed for easy maintenance & repair. Getting spare parts, and perhaps special tools to remove/replace them properly, may be more difficult.

Wynn have the User & Repair Manuals on a datacard somewhere?

Little modifications like increased range (always fun to blast unsuspecting targets with a sporting blaster at blaster carbine ranges :) ), increased damage for some extra punch, or even increased threat range to really make those lucky rolls count.

Speaking of which, I may have to look into getting Remy's heavy blaster tweaked for some added range down the line.

cold,
Quick question. How are we handling dice rolls for our characters? Just curious to see what happens if the proposed Sabacc game comes to fruition. Hopefully for such a minor detail it's not just "take 10 and figure it out," as Remy would slaughter everyone (especially as I'm the only one that's devoted any skill ranks to Gamble).

If this were Order of the Stick, I'd have Remy make a comment about how just becuase he purchased ranks in Gamble as a class skill doesn't make him a card shark :D

Aha! I just looked at my char-sheet- I actually do have a rank of Gamble (of course, my WIS modifier is 0, so Captain Koss' incongruous WIS score of 12 ties me on that).
I would also note that were this OOTS, I would constantly meta my failed Spot checks (+0 mod!).

Okay, so I'm the only person that's put multiple ranks in Gamble, as well as taken a feat that gives me a further boost to Gamble, with the fact that it further boosts my Bluff skill check :) Not quite good enough to sell the Emperor beach-front property on Tatooine, but getting there :hansolo:

As for Remy's skill with the cars, I think this sums it up best...

"It's one thing to play cards against a bunch of enlisted grunts. It's something else to play cards against Lando Calrissian."

Actually Dono, i've no ranks Gamble either...

wait, i'm still looking at my lvl7 stats... save for my Wis(+2) ability modifier and Cha(+1). No gamble, no Bluff either for spent ranks.

And you do have Bluff, so you'll be saving our hides when it comes to saving our hides at the business end of a blaster or any other situation that requires "smooth talkin".

Kelvin's skills are oriented to outdoors and survival. All he'd need is a pair of pants, some rope and a knife (well cut-offs or a bunch of large palmtree leaves). Also fairly perceptive and adept at sneaking around and not being noticed, be it forest or urban jungle.

And thats good, we've got all our diverse specialties, we all best work as a team, because I think we're darned well gonna need them. ;)

Rostek
28 January 2006, 02:22 PM
I've got enough Bluff ranks for the circumstance bonus (or, say, Aid Another ;)).
I've put my points so that I can do a bit of everything- Demo, ground vehicle and transport piloting, streetwiseness and tactics, disguise and sneaking, intimidation. But my feat selection speaks for itself- :hansolo:
I'm glad to see the cross-section of skills this group has- knowing cold, we'll need it.

Terras Jadeonar & Raven
28 January 2006, 03:43 PM
yup. some skills redundancy is good too...

between all of us, this group's pretty much got most of it covered for piloting and mobility for land/sea/air & space- vehicle, starship, starfighter, even animal (handle & ride)...

Dono, yes, the "little guy" had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday he & dad played in a D&D mini's tournament. They each bought 2 booster boxes to enter. Dad got 3rd place, which got him another box of mini's. Son got 4th place & still isn't aquainted with tactics, much less strategy. But he had lots of fun. this evening we had a little party for him. He got dinner made for him--his choice--and a little chocolate ice cream cake. He did pretty well on the presents. Some Matchbox vehicles & mini-folding playset for them, an electronic Suduko game, a Clone Wars graphic novel (Defense of Kamino & Other Tales), and an omnibus edition of the SW Original Trilogy novelizations.

Whats this? 'nother round of drinks and Cold's buyin?!?

Lol...well, if you mosey down this way, Terras, there's a round with your name on it. ;)

Fair enough- would you consider allowing the original model? It has mostly the same stats, but has a magazine of only two grenades.

My gut still says no, however, depending on how much else you get, you stand a better chance of getting this weapon.

Also, are you all ready to move on? If so, I'll sift through the last few posts to get a req. list, supply what I can, and plunge ahead into mission proper. :)

I don't see that there's anything else we need to do before heading out, except get those munchies--and maybe something to wash 'em down with. Like a good brew? (Sorry, I find myself thirsty after reading the Tempest Squadron OOC :D)
Well, there is one other thing--this is gonna be a co-ed sleepover 8o, in effect, so we could have a pillow fight or something.

Oh, Cold, are they gonna provide tranks for Kelvin, Remy & Kel--or do they just raid the med kits?

No need- I'll just take ranks in "Knowledge: Limits of my own sanity" in my Christmas Level-up (with Scl, that will give me 4 more points to spend if I max it out). That way, I can avoid using our tranqs needlessly B).

Of course, Kell has almost as high a Pilot mod as Koss, so we could just tranq him and let me fly :P

:D Oh that was so perfectly said, and priceless :D

I could just see Miykus' face just scowl and twist in distgust and repulsion ... Hmmm, all the more reason to introduce her to some 'jet-juice' and let the pillow cases & stuffing fly!

I'll second and third that vote for the togas .. see, we'll have such a good time, they'll have to come and investigate what the ruckuss is... Of course the room will be thick dense with free-floating pillowcase and bed stuffing that'd appear as if gravity was shut off in the room, soon as Miykus pokes her head in, I'm sure Kelvin or someone could easily grab her arm and yank her in.

At worst case scenario, the morning after, having tried to losen her up a bit, she'd probably despise us no worse than she already does now. :D

But there's one more thing I almost forgot. Is vooko or Kelvin gonna answer Wynn's guestion about who Zarya is? Inquiring minds want to know! I asked Vanger the other night, & he said "Maybe Terras should answer." So how about it, TJ?

Okay, I'll PM you later with what little I, with some help from Vanger, came up with about her for this game.

And the meta-gaming gets even odder still. Vanger considers (last time we talked about it, anyways) the RG1 Vooko to be the Canon version & Tempest Vooko to be "Infinities Vooko." However, since I created Zarya for Tempest Squadron, that Zarya is Canon to me, & this Rebellion Era Zarya is the Infinities version. 8o
Although I do not think, form the very little Cold & Vanger & I have talked, that RG1-Zarya will be much of a presence here. Probably finding out what's become of her--& other Tancredi Family--as the Galactic Civil War continues will be one of Vooko & Kelvin's goals, as the game continues. With help from Wynn Antilles, who knows all-too-well the pain of losing one's family to the Empire & would certainly want to spare her friends that pain.

If people want to do any extensive RP with me via IM/chat, try to get with me this week. Okay, made an IC post to show that Remy is still here and still kicking.

Two bits. First anyone in this group have a distinctive accent, such as Wynn and her Alderaanian accent? (Being raised on a Core World, I figure she has something resembling a British accent, in spite of the fact that there's no Britain.)

Also, as Remy said, we may want to concoct a cover story. I've tossed out a few ideas, but am open to suggestions. It'd be a good idea to have a story we all agree on, if for nothing else Remy doesn't have any surprises to deal with when I start rolling those Bluff checks to talk our way out of trouble :)

BTW, for those that aren't in the know, the Stormtrooper Two-Step is what Han and Luke did on the Death Star during ANH. :stormtpr: :hansolo: :stormtpr: :skypilot: :stormtpr:

Well, Vooko has a distinctive, yet rather unplaceable accent due to his unique childhood. Hints of Corellian, and a a mix from across the galaxy.

Best RW example I can think of is Christopher Lambert's from Highlander - "Where are you from?" "Lots of places." :P

Quick bit,
I checked the stat block on the Phoenix Hawk Pinnace, which I didn't know we were flying until now, and it falls under the category of Starfighter for the Starship Ops feat, at least according to Starships of the Galaxy.

So unless coldskier is using a different set of stats that place it as a Space Transport, Kell just got bumped to co-pilot ;)

We have evidence of both snubjock & transport pilots handling the Lamb without much difficulty, so there's a "gray zone" tween ship classes where one can fly the ship with either skill without penalty (or too much like -2 instead of the normal -4).

A file that has been uploaded to each of your ships' computers:

Chalmyron

System/Star: Chalmyron/Challa (Yellow Dwarf);
Type: Terrestrial;
Temperature: Temperate;
Atmosphere: Type I (breathable);
Gravity: Standard;
Terrain: Forest;
Length of Day: 18 standard hours;
Length of Year: 382 standard days;
Satellites: 2.

Planet Function: Abandoned Outpost;
Government: Meritocracy;
Tech level: Space;
Major Population: 92% Human;
Major Exports: None;
Major Imports: Foodstuffs;
Starports: 1 Standard class, 1 Limited class, 1 Landing Field class.

Capsule: Chalmyron originally served the Repiblic as a backdoor into and out of Seperatist space during the clone wars. Eventually, the CIS discovered it and the Republic, knowing they couldnt defend it (and that there were plenty of other candidate worlds), decided to abandon the planet. Offering any settlers who wanted to leave an oportunity to do so, they then destroyed the smallest of Chalmyron's three moons, allowing the remaining rubble to stabilize into an asteroid field that completely surrounded the planet. They then heavily mined this new asteroid field and left.

Since then, Chalmyron has become a quiet backwater, rumored to be home to a tiny Rebel cell.

Well, we could always try racing like bats out of hell ;)

The only other thing that comes to my mind is using minimal engine power and shipboard systems to coast through the field, and hopefully fall under the mines' sensors.

Don't worry bocce, there's always next time for you to get a chance to show that Koss' isn't the goofball we've taken him for... or something like that.

Sorry I've been a bit behind in posting. But sadly, I flunked my Farseeing skill check when it came to just how addictive Kingdom Hearts II was going to be.

Dear sweet merciless mother of babbling Christ, is that a fun game. And addictive to. Only sour point to my tastes is the Gummi Ship construction, which is a lot more aggravating and a lot less intuitive than it was in the first game. At least the pre-built ships are pretty cool this time around, especially the Falcon models :hansolo:

Just waiting on the crew of the Maiden to take action.

Ris, I considered your chaff tactic to be a readied action. If this wasn't satisfactory, let me know.

The 6 HP basically destroyed all but one of your speed boosts, and added a little random damage that has yet to be discovered. Nothing major, though. I stopped where I did to give you guys the opportunity to say anythig that needs said. You can continue with your flight to the landing zone. Remember, piloting subroutines, freefall...you're supposed to look like meteors. :)

It will be a readied action for Vanger, presuming he is gonna comply, since his Neckbreaker is the snub with the chaff cannisters.

So I got confused. Again. You got confused on who had the chaff :D Vanger suggested that he can have the other payload (decoys?), which has the advantage of less rewriting required.

Hey! At least it wasn't hostile...just irritable. Can you blame a reptile for liking a nice toasty ship? :P

Anyway, the crevice can either 1) comfortably fit the Maiden or 2) cram in the two fighters. Which do y'all wanna do? And what to do with the remainder?

Ah, the dreaded summer job. I remember those all too well.

As Ris may have told some of you, my access to the internet is currently very limited due to the modem on my computer giving up the ghost. I've decided to finaly join the rest of the 21st century and get something faster than dial-up (probably cable, but that requires a bit of extra work on my part). I can keep tabs on things from work, so no worries on that end.

Hey y'all. Feel free to continue BSing here. But, after much thought, I've decided to put the game on summer break. I just don't have enough time to do updates that you all deserve. My free time is in the evenings and I'm usually exhausted then. I'm doing good to get one or two posts in as a player.

Don't take this as a bad sign, though. Barring unforseen circumstances on your ends, I fully intend to jump right back into things in early September, when I return to school.

Since we're in a relative lull in the IC action, this makes as good a pausing point as any, and, if things go as planned, there probably won't be very many points as calm until the end. ;)

If you have any questions for me, feel free. :)

Thank You All,

Cold :)

OK, summer's almost over and I'm eager to get rolling again. Before I get too carried away, I'd like everyone to check in and give me your status in relation to posting ability. Once I get a few of you, I'll go ahead and get started. Also, while cleaning Lappy out, I accidentally wiped out all of your levelled up stats as opposed to your old ones. Many apologies. As for the stats, this is really a chance for you to start over. I DO have your old stats on Lappy, but if you have those, you can re-add the three Xmas '05 levels however you wish. Ris, I see you need stats PMed. I'll get that to yuo at earliest convenience, though there's really no rush. Hey where we last left off... was that where we were all sitting around the camp fire, and singing coombuyaah? (while consuming a cache of good spirits?) Then an Imperial patrol stopped by (few male and female), then we offered them the rest of of our spirits rather than them having to confiscate them, so they merrily joined us around the campfire and began singing coombuyaah in stepped chorus?

Or was that when we progressed onto row-row your boat? :raised: (although I think they [imperials] were enjoying it too much (read: inebriated) to notice how kelvin slipped by a few alternate phrase changes like 'life is like a dream' for 'that old prune palpatine' ?)

Bah-- that's what posting on the fly gets you. :rolleyes:

(Back to School season must be fraying my nerves :sigh: ).

My bad, Ris, hope you don't think I think you're *that* riske :o :o :o

No matter AFA the IC is concerned-- even the most innocent of removing one layer can be surprising to an uprepared party, especially one that is on edge as we are...
And, FYI, I wasn't even assuming "R": I was thinking along the lines of a scanter level of underclothing-- still scandalizing to those concerned about propriety, but not *ahem* R (I know no practical woman who wouldn't *layer* appropriately for such a trip-- you know).
And, as Kell said, I have also been conditioned to avert my eyes during any changing-- good Catholic boy, you know. Where I'm from, it is considered rather bad manners-- of course, this same place is scandalized if I were to not open a door for a lady given the opportunity and other such things. My hometown is still one foot in the '50's :)

EDIT: There, explained and clarified in the ol' IC.

What I mean to say is: I didn't intend the comment as you seem to think I did (you know... R rated stuffs...), but merely a surprised, jesting reaction to a lady being pragmatic to the elements rather than being "courtly". Kell's kind of strange like that :)

Once again-- I reiterate I meant no offense to anybody, 'specially you. Ris (not so much Dono, as he is a dude and therefore not subject to certain cultural edicts I base my behavior off of, j/k :P)

In such cases, you may also want to remember that not everyone shares the same culture/value system you do, and that your own posts can be subject to misintrepretation, as your post implied that Wynn was going topless, which to be honest really offended Ris.

I'm not looking nor asking for an apology, just that you be a bit more mindful in the future about the context of what you post is all.

Why don't we just switch this over to PM before this string gets too long...

(And in the forum Mod's game-- heh :))>

Well said, Rostek. I think everyone knows where everyone else stands on this misinterpretation/faux pas. If y'all feel the need to discuss it at length, do so via PM, as it's gone from being a game related discussion, to one of social norms and the like. Also, if anyone has a problem with anything else in this game, from now on, please take it up with me. I'll handle it.

Thanks,

Cold :)

I've said my piece, so as far as I'm concerned, the matter is done and over with.

The Aldaraanian waterfall is mentioned in one of the X-wing novels.

Wynn's "legend" with the waterfall is a tribute to one of my favorite series, and an especially-beloved section. Anyone recognize it?

You refer, of course, to Henneth Annun in Ithillian, from The Two Towers-- and that brave and well read captain would be Faramir, if I'm not mistaken :)

1: I'm giving people almost a month & 1/2 worth of warning -- mainly because me & my family are getting excited. From about 10/26 to 11/1, Donovan Morningfire will once more be visiting us for NecronomiCon, Halloween, & lots of Chaotic Good fun! So I probably won't be on here much then.

Yes, indeed, one of my favorite characters, in any book or movie. One of the few shortcomings of The Return of the King movie. IMO, was Lord Faramir getting short shrift.

Personally, I prefer Chaotic Neutral fun, but I do understand there are limits, mostly imposed by law :D

BTW, I might not be quite as up-to-speed as some others, as I picked up Lego Star Wars II a couple days ago, and am having quite a bit of fun, especially with running people over with a landspeeder or stomping stormtroopers and droids with an AT-ST.

As long as you keep to your usual pattern of appearing CG in front of our kids. :skypilot: :amidala: As you well know, they are sweethearts but need no inspiration in the "pure chaos" direction. :)
But never fear, there will be plenty of time for CN fun.

According to the TV ads, you can mix up minifig parts in the game, though I'm sure nothing matches for sheer horror the Sith twins' creation with their real Legos -- Jar-Jar in a Slytherin House unform.8o
I can't wait to get the game. Can you ride taun-tauns or fly snubbies? And are there opps to drive Yoda nuts by getting into mischief on Dagobah?

Since it's been a while, I'm gonna remind you all of your gear, as there seems to be this common notion that we've got tents stashed somewheres. For the record:

In addition to personal belongings (on your character stat equipment lists), each character receives the following, in a rugged brown and green pack:

Aquata Breather x1
Breath Mask x1
Atmosphere Canister/Filter x5
Camouflage Poncho x1
Comlink x1
Sleeping Unit (resembles a sleeping bag on steroids, w/ a fully sealable sleeping chamber that connects to a breath mask as well as heating/cooling controls) x1
Electrobinoculars x1
Energy Cell x5
Glow rod x1
Grappling Spike Launcher x1
Medpac x3,
Ration Pack [Adventure Hiker & Hunter] x5
Syntherope (20m length) x1
Water Jug Filter [SurvivalGear] x1
knife x1
multi-tool x1
Empty Utility belt (attach to it whatever you like) x1

Also, the group as a whole receives:

Blaster Pistols (6)
Blaster Rifles (6)
Power Pack (18)
Grenade, Frag (12)
Grenade, Stun (6)
Medical Kit (2)
Comlink (Military-grade headset) (4)

(1) Aratech "Jumper" Rocket Pack, with a tag attached that reads, 'be safe, have fun', and signed by the QM. Has one fuel cell.

Not a big deal yet, but I didn't want to let it go too long. ;)

Last time i checked kel's lvl7 chat rtf file, Kelvin did have a portable durashelter in his backpack equipment list ;)

or maybe kelvin asumes everyone packed one along. in that case, it might be a cozy fit for the 6 of us to fit in...

HE might have one, but thats his personal equipment. It'd be very cozy indeed just for Kel and one very special guest, let alone the whole team. :P Dont worry, though, the mummy bag style sleeping units have a fully sealable face shield in case youre getting rained on. ;)

When I mentioned IC about using the ponchos as tents, I was thinking of my own mil. rain poncho which does have the cords and grommets meant, so My Hubby tells me, to make it into an emergency tent. (I just hope I never have to use it that way b/c I don't have a clue how it would be done:o )

Hey Dono, about sw lego 2...

not sure if your talking about the consol or pc version...

though for the PC version of SW lego 1, i found the setup quite awkward, to move them left & right it was more like holding up+left and up+right , so the whole game grid and movement is setup on a diagonal grid, and a fixed camera view, no rotating camera... and only keyboard control, no mouse...

i've got a 4 button basic gravis gamepad i've yet to try it on, (to see if it'll work or be an improvement)...

So, is sw lego2 any different in that manner than sw lego1 or basically the same?

i'm in no rush to buy it right now, was just curious, as i'm more debating whether to buy the OT dvds since i skipped the last 2 dvd sets...

:edit: Yep, chatted with vanger online yim for a very brief half hour as he had just got home and before he went to sleep. i quickly showed him my post and the scene outline, and we managed to add in a classic Vooko line for ya. he's still out there and kickin, darth real life still at it... ;)

Terras,
I've got the GameCube versions of both games, so I wouldn't know about the controls for the PC version. I'd imagine the set-up would be identical though. I'd imagine the gamepad would be a definite improvement.

As for gameplay, there's more stuff to find/unlock, and it's a lot trickier to find. Most of the unlockable extras require you to find special bricks in the Free Play mode to be able to purchase them. Other than the addition of vehicles you can actually drive/pilot (controls take some getting used to for those), the gameplay is almost identical. The only vehicle level I've played so far (Death Star run from EpIV) has gotten rid of the "on-the-rails" aspect from the first game, so you've got a lot more freedom to fly around.

All-in-all I've been enjoying it, and just finished EpIV Story Mode. (Still working on the Free Play versions of those levels.)
