Character Creation Guidelines

Any Species- give me a good reason for those that are out of the ordinary
No Jedi Classes- but maybe Force-Sensitive, again, give me a good reason
Level 8
Prestige Classes- see Species and FS
Feats- I've got the Hero's Guide, and you can get more on this site
If there's anything else that comes up, I'll add it later.
Do a 38 point-buy. Trust me, you'll need it.

More to come...

What is the way you want us to do abilities. Roll - Point Buy?
I am planning on a Pilot that is all about ships not just piloting them but their workings also (and how to steal them maybe ; )
Able to fly both a Starfighter or Space Transport and try and get at least one level in Blockade Runner and Starship Ace with the main classes being Scoundrel and Soldier. I will have to look at the book tonight when I get back to my room to make sure when I make him up but I was thinking something along the lines of Scoundrel 2 Soldier 4 Starship Ace 1 Blockade Runner 1
I will make sure about the requirements but I think both classes are pretty much the same for reqs.

When in the NJO Era will we be playing so I can make sure I get the background right? Don't want to make his background all jacked up.

The answer is yes Stormrider. And darth_phobeius you can find it on this site by searching for SpecForce. It used to be a feature, but no longer. And the stats look good, I'll be going over them more in-depth later. And for the record, we'll be starting just after the Battle of Dantooine.

1. Organization

New Republic Special Forces 7th Division
... Coruscani Second Regiment
... ... 5th Company (Easy Company)
... ... ... Alpha Platoon
... ... ... Beta Platoon
... ... ... Omega Platoon
... ... ... ... 1st Squad (Needs a name)
... ... ... ... 2nd Squad (Needs a name)

2. Ranks

Lieutenant First Class
... Sergeant First Class(Leadership)
... ... Staff Sergeant(Leadership)
... ... ... Corporal
... ... ... ... Lance Corporal
... ... ... ... ... Private First Class
... ... ... ... ... ... Private

All credit goes to Bocce for this stuff. Okay, so since I've got this stuff set up, I'm gonna ask those who want leadership positions, which are two to three for each squad, will have to have 5 ranks in Diplomacy. Now, Stormrider has asked for one of those positions, so he's gonna need 5 Ranks. Everybody got that? We also need names for the two squads........

Mack Jace

Nothing too special here, just wanted to let everyone know that you have 20,000 cr. to spend on whatever you want, and you can also requisition whatever you can't buy. You can have any kind of equipment from the A&EG, and just about anywhere else, as long as you let me know about it.

Okay, for a character, I'm thinking human/cyborg.

Name: Kaj Iruull'sha'a (fringer 1, Soldier 6, elite trooper 1)

After joining rebel alliance, Kaj found himself thrust into all sorts of unsavoury conditions: One of which cost him an arm, both legs, and some mental functions: All of which have been replaced by cyborg cybernetics. This gives him a strange learning pattern, as somethings he embraces with the speed of a heuristic processor, and others, like a, well, metally handicapped person. He seeks to overcome his mental disablilities, but it appears his future will remain in the physical world of blasters and bruises...

(i'll write his stats soon)

olineisfine
10 January 2006, 01:39 PM
Anak was born on Naboo, and was born part way through the emperial strangal hold on the republic. He grew up shooting guns around the house and became an adept hunter in the jungles of Naboo, he joined the alliance in it's waining days and killed a fair ammount of storm tropers, he loves fighting in the backsounrty, blening in with his surroundings and then picking the perfect time to massacre his enemy, he became know as "the stalker" for his annoying habbit of toying with his prey and folowing it for long distances before moving in for the kill. he can be cynical at times, but when it comes to protecting his men he will do whatever it takes. during his younger days as a hired soldier, he worked on the planet of coyn and after helping out with so amny local disturbances and protecting their embassidor from a personal attack, he was given one of their prized armor suits.

Mack, I adjusted my stats (above) to reflect the 38 point buy in (my original stats were from 4D6 drop the lowest), I also added my equipment to the list. As far as my charcter's rank he is basically just a support element, keep the equiment repaired and running, so I imagine he would not be a very high ranking person. Most likely a private.

Mack Jace
10 January 2006, 03:31 PM
Actually, there is one other rank I forgot to mention. It's not available for everyone, but it's for those who don't quite fit in with the other ranks. It's the rank of Specialist, and it sounds like your character would fit the bill. Sound good?

As a refreshign change from BorB I'd like one of the 'high' ranking spots in one of the squads. Not quite sure about my char, but I should be able ot get oyu stats and or background on or by the weekend.

Bio:
Originally an operative for the Bothan SpyNet, Raek (as he prefers to be called) was installed by his superiors to become a SpecForce operative. Because of the recent nature of his enlistment, he is a lowly private first class. He has been utilized in the past as a reliable scout and/or guide through unfamiliar territory. He seems to have almost a sixth sense for finding and mapping trails in even the toughest conditions. Due to the intense spy training he recieved, and the gear he wears, he is almost invisible and inaudible to the normal sentient when he wishes to be. He is a mixture of intimidating and dispicable when visible. Raek is very thin, with dark hair except for a silver streak on the back of his head. The armor and cloak that he usually wears drape around him like a second skin. His cloak has numerous dials and switches on the inside, and is useable as almost an escape pod, albeit one without propulsion.
The main reason he joined the SpecForce was to train to become a SpecForce Infiltrator. It's rumored by his peers that it is the basis that'll make his big promotion in the SpyNet, but his superiors haven't bothered to confirm or deny this.

Sounds good Mack, he'll be a specialist.

Bio:
Born of Faleen aristocracy Rzadino never like the lifestyle. Although having the money gave him acess to the things he did like he found the lifestyle to be boring at the most. Soon he started hanging with the wrong crowd and getting in trouble as young men will do. This was nothing short of embarrassing for his family and he was given an ultimatum to shape up or be disowned. He promptly answered the ultimatum by stealing the Family luxury yatch and flying of to Corusant in serach of a good time. Along the way however he was highjacked by pirates and left drifting in an escape pod.

Picked up by local law enforcement he was disowned from his family and given a choice, go to prison or join the military. Needless to say he joined the military. At first he found the life difficult, especially taking orders from those that in his early days he would have considered lessers. But soon the life grew on him, and he became a member of the military support function keeping the units equipment servicable and ready.

Okay, so here is the stats for Kaj. I wouldn't mind being any of the available positions, so feel free to give me whatever is left: Do to his mental difficulties, I doub he would be in a high leadership position, but he can be very, very inteliigent due to his mental implants.
2
Str: 16*
Con: 16*
Dex: 18* (16+2 for 8th level)
Wis: 14
Int: 6-22**
Cha: 10*

*All these stats may be modified due to his cybernetic implants.

** Due to his altered mental state, when dealing with droids and mechanics, or a mechanized environment, his intelligence is 22. When dealing with primitive environments or new aquintances, his intelligence may drop to 6. (GM's discretion) Other situations hay cause alterations as well.

Kaj's intelligence score before 5th level was 14. After that, he recieved his cybernetic implants due to a tragic combat injury resulting in... well... visible losses. When counting skills or prerequisites, it is considered to be 14.

Vitality 85 Wounds: 16

Initiative: +4
Speed 10 m (Due to Cybernetic legs, could be higher/lower)

Def: 10 +4+3+5+1+2= 26

Fort: 6+3= 9
Ref: 1+1+1+ 4= 7
Will: 3+2= 5
Melee Attack: +6/+1 +3 +0= +9/+3
Ranged Attack:+6/+1 +4 +0= +11/+5
Skills: Repair 22 (11+6+2+3) Search 2 (2 -2) Spot 6 (4+2) Listen 6 (4+2) Pilot 15 (11+4) Survival 6 (4+2) Climb 7 (4+3) Jump 7 (4+3) Computer Use 19 (11+6+2) Demolitions 11 (5+6) Treat Injury 12 (10+2) (Instant Mastery) Disable device 10 (4+6) Knowledge (Tactics) 8 (10-2) Intimidate 11 (9+2)

Feats: Gearhead, defensive martial arts, dodge, martial arts, point blank shot, Quick draw, Combat Reflexes, mobility, shot on the run, Weapon Group Proficiency (Blaster pistols, rifles, heavy weapons, vibro weapons, simple weapons, primitive weapons) Armor Proficiency (Light)

Languages: Basic, binary (Only when interfacing directly with a droid) (Requires x2 cost to learn) Huttese.

(Could Kaj have a weapon mount on his Cybernetic forearm?)
Equipment: Combat Gloves, Blaster Carbine, Weapon mount, Datapad, Vibroblade attatchment, Heavy Blaster Pistol attatchment, Medpac x3, Ayelixe/Krongbing Textiles Tracker utility vest (With the -1 Armor check mod?)

Credits 0. All his Equipment and money have been supplied by the NR as part of their limb reimbursement package (Not applicable to Trandoshans, or other species that regrow limbs) in accordance to Kaj's decision to remain with the military.

EDIT: I forget what Canny Defense and Showmanship do. Could somebody enlighten me? Thanks

No prob, Psych ;) Canny Defense: When not wearing armor, (This incluedes the shadow suit) the master duelist adds his intelligence bonus (in addition to his dex) to his defense against melee attacks. If the master duelist is caught flat footed, or otherwise denied his dex bonus, he loses the int bonus as well.

Showmansihp: As a move action, the master duelist may make an entertain check (DC 15). If successful, he gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and damage for the duration of the of the duels This only applies during duels, and there must be at least six noncombatant spectators present to provide the morale bonus.

Omniscience, stats look good. I don't think that his intelligence should be that low, but maybe 8 or 9. I don't see why he can't have a weapon mount, probably just a blaster pistol or something.

Gax goes by the call-sign "Blazer" which he got from flying drop ships in at extremely steep angles to lessen exposer time but would burn off all the armor and have the inside turned into a oven that the commandos knew that riding with him they would be sweating off several pounds so to hydrate well before a drop.

He has red curly hair and freckled skin and green eyes. He wears his beard thin so it does not interfer with the seal on his flightsuit. He wears a armored flightsuit standardly that is maroon and gold and tinted visor with a cross chest holster for his SoroSuub Heavy Blaster and a boot shealth for his vibrodagger. He likes to wear flight-goggles when not wearing his helmet. Loves to work on the starships with the other mechanics. He sands about 1.5 meters tall and weighs 85kg with a wiry frame. Has a warm personality. He especially likes to hangout with lower enlisted and give them advise and share war stories. He is just beginning his 30's and plans on staying in the military till they kick him out or he gets carried out in a box.

Gax was born nine years before the Battle of Yavin and was raised by his “Uncle” Al, not his real uncle but he never knew his parents or where he was actually born. He has always just remembered Al being there. Al was a medium transport captain that ran cargo for the Corporate Sector and other firms that hired him. He never smuggled, and everything was always a legitimate cargo. His Uncle Al taught him how to fly, how to use a blaster, engineering, and other skills that would come in handy working on a transport. They went everywhere across the galaxy. Picking up cargo and transporting it to another place and on to the next job. Gax didn’t know much about Al’s and didn’t ask much because the couple of times he did Al would just get this faraway look and go silent. Gax once found a holo of Al with two other individuals. Al was wearing power armor and the others were wearing a lighter armor over brown robes. The two men with Al were so different but shared a look in their eyes that said that they had been together for a long time. Gax asked Al about it once and was told to leave the dead buried.
They maintained a house on mid rim planet Garqi. They didn’t spend much time there but it was out of the way and they were able to get away some times to relax. Gax knew he was not related to Al because of their drastically different appearances. Gax with his red hair and pale feckled skin and Al with his tanned skin and once dark hair run through with grey.
The last time Gax saw Al was when they were at their home and Al got a call from someone. Al grabbed a bag with a serial number on it that Gax had never seen right after getting off the transmitter and told Gax that he had to go help a friend and he would be back in a couple days. Time pasted and Al did not return. After about a week of waiting Gax got a message that Al was killed by pirates near Ord Mantel. Gax was eighteen at the time and decided to join the military to help get ride of pirates and rogues that killed the only family he ever knew (9 years AFBY). He applied with the Imperial Navy first but due to problems on Coruscant and with the rest of the Empire his application never got processed so he took what little money him and Al had stashed and went in search of the Rebel Alliance that was trying to form the Republic again. Al use to talk all about how great the Republic was and even would start quoting lines from the military (you could tell). He hooked up with the Rebel Alliance and started out as a crew chief working on starfighters. What he really wanted to do was fly them. He would spend his off hours in the simulators when no one was watching and train as much as he could. His opportunity came after four years of service when Page offered him a spot as the dropship pilot for his commandos. Gax snatched it up right away and knew this was his break. He spent the next four years flying drop missions for Page. Screaming through the atmosphere of a planet at 10,000 km/h with a dead stick and needing split second timing was a real rush and the combat training he had received came in real handy on several missions that he went in as also the comm-guy for the unit. He flew over 100 drops for the commandos and participated as RTO for the commandos in three operations. Page helped him finally get a slot on a starfighter squadron flying A-Wings for the now New Republic. He was sad to leave the commandos but excited to finally be getting a chance to prove himself in a fighter. He still keeps in touch with the commandos and sends them holos of him and the other pilots from time to time. He likes to keep in touch with people that he has served with and many of them remember him the second they see his flaming red hair and bright smile. Refusing a commission had hampered Gax in getting flight status but he wanted to be with the guys in the ditches. He still worked on his own fighter and helped the ground crew with other fighters. He flew more than 20 sorties for the New Republic and earned his Ace status with 34 confirmed kills. The New Republic Navy finally gave him the rank of Chief Warrant Officer when Page put it thru and put him in a cockpit. He has been flying with different squadrons for the last four years. He has 12 years of service in and does not plan on getting out anytime soon. An offer came down to help out with the New Republic Marines who needed an insertion specialist and flight manager. Gax decided that he could take a break from the starfighter gig to help out.

Sorry for lurking....

The SW language in question is mentioned in the first (and GREATEST) of SW films, when Aunt Beru reminds Luke to "tell Owen that if he gets a translator to be sure it speaks Bocche."

(3PO, of course, assures Owen that Bocche is "like a second language to me." ;) )

But "Bocche" (a SW language) is different from "bocce" (Italian Lawn Bowling). I should know: I got a Lounge. ;)

Are you sure it's bocche? It's spelled bocce both in the novelization and in Ben Burtt's travel guide. I just checked both of them. I still could be wrong, though.

And for the record, we'll be starting just after the Battle of Dantooine

I made a mistake with this, and it's weird that I didn't notice it earlier. We are actually starting just after the Battle of Helska. Sound good?

P.S. Psych, I am allowing weapon mods, and I'll get the info for you later.

Eventually Rodia fell to NR forces and Seth applied to join the military( I’m not sure if and when it did fall but if it doesn’t fit then replace it with another world) He is the veteran of several small campaigns( liberation mission where the natives beat back the Imps to a single base) He was recently assigned to NR Specforces 7th division.

Sorrosuub Firelance is a personal favorite of mine.....

A. It has a better stun setting that almost any blaster pistol or rifle.

B. It's extremely light...and still has a 30m range....and an increased stun range of 10m instead of 4

C. It's very sturdy...

"Shrugs" Though I usually play light troopers...it's still an excellent weapon overall..and availible in all era's.

Edit. I'd appreciate it if you kept the 'gangsta speak" to a minimum...It makes your posts hard to read and understand.

"Eyes"

I know of several.....the nastiest being the Blastech-A280 "Longblaster" 3d8+3 damage...19-20 crit range. Heavy though....6.7 kilograms.

Or you could become our heavy weapons specialist...(new character) and pack a Heavy Repeater.

Yes, and it is available in the era we are playing. You could also go with the Merr-Sonn model G8, 3D8, 40M range, however has a hardness of 4 instaed of five, but it is only 4.5 kg.

G8 is a good choice also.

Not as much damage..but much lighter and an extended range.

Same crit range.

Edit. oline....may I suggest you buy the Arms and Equipment guide? It's filled with blasters, slugthrowers, even a few more "exotic" weapons. and some useful items. The shadowsuit is a good one (+10 to hide and move silently)

After all of this weapon talk, I figured I'd get back to business. I've assigned everyone to a squad, and I wanted to let everyone know that we have a new player, Doty. He's currently sending me his char, so I'll put him in one of the squads (since he's joined before the game started). Everyone is okay with the squad names being Whiskey and Tango right? If not, I can always change it, but I just wanted to get the assignments down.

Whiskey Squad
Lt. FC Mack Jace (Me)
Sgt. FC Nym Sharden (NPC)
Corporal (Needs a name) (NPC)
LC Karka Melan'sil (guaeko)
Specialist Rzadino (Rabbiddog)

Tango Squad
Sgt. FC Ven Lasray (Psych)
Corporal Anak Mank(Oline)
LC (Omniscience)
LC Seth Laxyn (Oathkeeper)
Private (Doty)

Attached New Republic Navy Personnel
Chief Warrant Officer Gax Jonson (darth_phobeius)

Gax Jonson can be assigned to a squad as per the situation.

Are we going to have NPC personell to fill in the squads? Because with only PC's we seem to be a little short handed. Just curious...

Edit. Or are we a "special operations" team? Black-Ops...like Delta Force or the SEALS.

This is pretty much a smaller platoon, not as many men, but it is one of the better ones, because it works together as a tightly knit group. But yeah, it is pretty small, but maybe the next coupla missions we can get some more recruits.

Though to quote the AEG on the Underslung, "collectors still seek it out," as would someone who thought T-21's overheat too much (underslung rotary carbine = mini-gatling gun.)

Otherwise the EXP-7a Predator [sniper] rifle is nice but I don't have enough Gather Info to beat the DC 30 check to get it anyways for my Hvy. Wpns. Feeorin (assuming Mack doesn't let me write it off.)

Another idea is the Concussion Rifle Bossk has, though I can't find my ol' SW Gamer BH issue.

If someone could could do a synapsis for feat: Combat Veteran, I would appreciate it. :)

Well as far as the EXP, the GM could always just go the route that you obtained one through a small supply the military still had on hand. Since we are a military unit often times they have access to equipment that might not be available elsewhere.

Bkgd. (long):

Brought to Gelgelar Free Port as a toddler, Resk soon grew to love the swampy shadowport and its freedom as an Outer Rim locale. Gelgelar Port was run by an enterprising Sullustan family headed by Loro Ecls and his sister Nofre [codenamed Talana during the Rebellion]. The Ecls family ran or had a hand in most of the shadowport’s businesses, legal [repair, outfitting] and not-so-legal [forgeries]. They were an honorable family, with the general welfare of the port at heart. The town was a ramshackle of wooden and prefab shelters, ringed by landing platforms suspended above the muck. Customs/duties were nill and Sullustese was the unofficial language. As it was a shadowport, Huttese was also common, especially at Fenn’s Landing. Slugthrowers were more prevalent than usual, as some of the local gases are flammable. Notable rogues such as Platt OKeefe and Han Solo have been spotted there laying low from time to time despite the frequent rainshowers and swampy smell, the prices and repair work were good. The Ecls’ chief rival was an ill-tempered Rodian named Slerog Fenn, a smalltime gangster favoring hired muscle, but a fair shot himself. Fenn owned some platforms on the edge of town, but charged inflated prices as he hired goons to “protect” his customer’s parked craft, which involved shooting at anything that came near Fenn’s Landing, including the rightful owners. His goons often broke into the ships and stole small, inconspicuous items such as hydrospanners and power packs, though were too dumb to effectively siphon information off the shipboard computers. Other businesses included Red Threxa’s Boarding House, and Ithorian Thulls’ Slippery Gelgelar Eel Water Hole. Local businesses revolved around farming/collecting vohis mold [food seasoning] and shvash gas [lighter/flamer fuel--the reason many carried breath masks when about the town as it crept in sometimes.] Perhaps the biggest business on Gelgelar aside from its function as low-key shadowport was fringe tourism/pilgrimage to the planet’s first known building, the rocky Shrine of Kooroo
Though remaining Feeorins were often discriminated against, the Sullustans that ran the port quickly took to the modest family and their spirited son. While his parents tried their hand at the vohis mold and shvash gas businesses, Resk scampered about town with Ecls’ offspring and had mostly good times. That all ended when his parents’ entire foraging party was wiped out by the hostile indigents during a foray into the jungle for vohis mold. A quick investigation was mounted and his father’s battered Outland rifle was recovered and returned to Resk. As a result the villagers were even more afraid to venture out into the jungle to practice their livelihoods. Rumors that Slerog Fenn was supplying the Glarsaurs with more advanced weaponry [than the spears and slings they were accustomed to] was not lost on the impressionable young Feeorin. Even though Thulls helped him out, as did the Ecls family, his parent’s credits were dissipating at an alarming rate. Resk found he could no longer spend his time hanging around Nofre’s Repair Bay (where in time he became involved with Nofre/Talana’s rebel friends though was not present when the Drop Point was leveled between Hoth and Endor) absorbing holonovels and technical manuals. He had to do something with himself.
When the desperate mold farmers and gas collectors asked the burgeoning Feeorin to cover them on a run, Resk accepted, eager for a chance to test the Outland Rifle on live Glarsaurs. Borrowing a rusty Mobquet Overracer he strapped on the oversized slugthrower rifle and rode out with the convoy into the enveloping jungle. Sure enough, the Glarsaurs ambushed them once they had penetrated a ways into the bog, showering them with knives, spears, stones, and sure enough, a few blaster bolts. Taking cover behind the Mobquet he leveled the oversized rifle and squeezed the trigger—a little shaky as it missed, tearing a large chunk out of a tree. A stone cracked him in the head and he fell dazed onto his back, where he spied another contingent of Glarsaurs sneaking up from behind. Rolling over he fired, the large-caliber bullet catching the lead warrior in the chest and throwing him off his feet. This caught the attention of the farmers who now faced attack from both sides. Pulling himself to his feet he gored another with his gleaming bayonet before he was skimmed by the vibrodagger of another. The farmers got a few shtos off before the charging Glarsaurs set upon them hand-to-hand. The melee dragged on savagely, and soon Resk was facing down the last standing Glarsaur, apparently of some importance judging from his special spear. Surrounding the stand-off were farmer and Glarsaur mortally wounded and dead, some groaning feebly. His 8-shots expended long ago, stock dented from use as a club, bayonet dripping with blood, the weary Feeorin charged the hulking Glarsaur, running each other through. Resk wearily shrugged off the corpse’s embrace, and fell to his knees holding his side as Thulls arrived from town with a few other brave Sullustans. Although he was the last one standing, his wounds ran deep and the villagers were surprised to find him breathing.
Thulls brought him to a friend, the lone inhabitant of the Kooroo Shrine, known as “the Wise Man.” Once left alone with the Feeorin, he began healing Resk with the Force. With time the Feeorin was nursed back to health and he and the old man became acquianted, though he would not discuss the Force directly with Resk. However, before bidding the Feeorin goodbye, the Wise Man hinted to Resk that there was something special about him. Resk shrugged it off and went home to Gelgelar—where he received a hero’s welcome as one of few survivors. They presented him with an ammo bandolier so he would never again run out, Vleen gave him an engraved flamer and Thulls wiped his bar tab off the books.
Things managed to settle down a bit then as politics took center stage with the declaration of the New Republic. Resk kept himself busy by working in Nofre’s shop and continuing to convoy farmers as his increasing combat skills kept the Glarsaurs away. His father’s Outland rifle had been retired to heirloom status once he had fixed up a T-21 from Nofre, wistfully given as a hint for him to join up against the Empire. Resk felt he was needed there at Gelgelar and could not be swayed yet.
In the meanwhile Slerog Fenn consolidated his power over the Port’s criminal element and began to further encroach upon the Ecls’. One day while picking up a crate of spare parts from a spacer parked at Fenn’s Landing, Resk overheard a heated argument--knowing Fenn’s goons like he did, Resk wandered over, armed only with a loose bayonet. Sure enough, the shifty Rodian and his goons were arguing with some poor spacer over his bill. Fenn promptly ended the argument by casually blasting the spacer at point blank range. A woman screamed and Resk went into action, throwing the crate of parts at the largest of Fenn’s thugs he roared and charged Fenn, intent on stabbing him. While his goons missed, Slerog shot true and put two bolts into Resk’s stomach. Their laughter was all he heard as red-hot darkness overcame him as his eyes rolled back into his head.
Upon waking he was rather disconcerted. And damp. Fenn’s goons seemed to have chucked him over the side of the platform--he had lived through it, albeit missing the Ecl’s parts. Knowing he could not forcefully retrieve them in his state, he dragged himself back to Nofre’s and explained it all, blaming himself as they all knew matters were about to escalate. He was painfully aware that Slerog had more men than he and Nofre could handle (her Rebel contingent was never reinforced/replaced) coupled with the concern Fenn could possibly call on the remaining Glarsaurs. The Ecls had credits, but Fenn had a monopoly on the resident muscle.
Despaired, Resk drew on positive memories of his parents before their violent ends. A story his father once told him stood out, a story of how a Jedi Knight, not long before the Purge, had saved their colony, which was one of their last. Resk sought out the Wise Man for advice and was told there was little he could be taught there on planet in order to grow stronger, that he must seek out the Jedi in the Kathol sector. Through Nofre he was able to get a meeting with the New Republic’s Jedi there, known as Vigilance. Resk was not chosen among the glut for any real Jedi training, and so he did finally enlist in the New Republic Army, with the intent to one day come back and settle matters. In the meanwhile, the Feeorin has found himself reassigned...

Description:
A burly, yellow Feeorin with blue markings, Resk bears limited resemblance to the most famous of Feeorin; Nym the Pirate. Hanging around his neck is a breath mask, an old habit from his days on Gelgelar. His wandering grey eyes gleam with an intensity counter to a relaxed, thickset posture. He favors a tattered blue all-temperature cloak, similar to the ones the Kooroo pilgrims wear back home. Otherwise wears a green/tan blast helmet & vest with a flight suit underneath.
Resk is generally a nice guy for a Feeorin, though more pensive than verbal. Carries himself with quiet dignity, yet has a tendency to grin through the sik’ar smoking in his mouth. Resk has a protective streak that manifests itself from time to time. Enjoys discussing equipment, particularly weaponry, when out of combat. Pretty chill when off the clock, has a definite gameface when on mission. If left alone with a view, he will tend to stare off in the distance.

that's too bad, maybe I'll meet him in another game--hey Mack is my CS ok for now? Am taking off for a bit but am gonna post later tonite for an intro.

P.S. added Resk's background and description to his CS post.

P.S.S No one else is a Private., could I be a CWO or Spec. or Lance Cpl. or something if this is Spec. Ops or whatever? Resk is in the equiv. of his late 30's, even if he lacks ambition.

Background and stats look good, welcome to the team. And you're a Pvt. because Resk doesn't have as much military experience. Rank doesn't really do much, it just adds a little flavor to the game.

Background of Ven "Na'Duel" Lasray.

Ven was born on the Togrutan homeworld. At an early age he decided that he was not an athlete, and he was usually considered a loner. Odd for a Togruta. One day, he decided that his body was not in very good shape, and decided ot get some exercise.
By age thirteen, thoguh he had little physicla strength, he was the most flexible togruta around. When hunting small prey with others, he was a dead shot. As a reward for bringing down a particularly large creature and saving his mother's male cousing from being trampled, he was given a Sorosuub X-45. It looke like he would have a good career as a hunter, but shortly after his fifteenth birthday he chanced upon a spacer who was engaged in a swordfight with another off-worlder. The spacer neatly decapitated the offworlder, a pregnant human, and Ven, suitably enraged, picked up her sword without a though and exacted revenge. Temporarily sent into off-world exile after dismembering the spacer, he saved up and bough himslef a quality vobrorapier. Of course, he hid his X-45. Except when hunting, for which he 'acquired' a Shadowsuit for camouflage and the swoop he got as a reward for killing a rancor.

He joined the NR marines as early as he could, and has since reached an unwritten agreement with them. They provide free fuel, storage and repairs for his Mobquet, and he accepts whatever promotions they give him. It turns out his spending time analysing social groups as opposed to being in them has clued him in to what makes people tick, and has made him a great leader.

He is slightly vain, a trait common among duelists, and has elaborate dueling clotihng, which he wears to formal events. Of course, he also wears his vibrosword and Kylan 3, a fact that once saved a commanding officer when a 'disgruntled' marine tried to run him through. For bravery he was promoted and reassigned to this unit, at the tender age of he's not going ot tell anyone cause they'd be jealous.

Well Doty, I must say that this is the truth behind the campaigns. They are slow. It will always be this way, but I encourage everyone here, from GM to rookie to do their best to try and keep the pace up. But even as I say that, we must all realize that Real Life is hardly ever that forgiving, so we must be especially patient with those who have the most work to do. I feel confident speaking for everybody when they say they wish things were a little faster, but then, would we have as much enjoyment anticipating the event? Let's not give up because it isn't going fast enough; Let us be forgiving, and understanding about how fast-or slow- things are.

PsychoInfiltrator
11 February 2006, 05:01 AM
I think Omni may have said it better than I can...but I'll try anyways.

There will always be slow campaigns, and there will always be parts of camapigns that are slow. Even the campaigns reknowned for speed-Tempest, BoRB, etc, have incredibly long periods where nothing or very little hapens. This is mostly caused by DRL. A campaign can only go as fast as it's slowest component. Because GMing a campaign requires anywhere between 5-20 times the time and effort of merely playing in one, campaigns often move at the pseed of their GMs. But not always, especially when you are gettign a page plus of posts daily, such as has often occurred in Tempest and BoRB.

I for one, will not give up on this cmapaign yet, not by a long shot.

I'd also like to note that this is one of the main reasons why most players participate in more thasn one campaign-hopefully, there's always soemthing to do.

Mack Jace
11 February 2006, 12:27 PM
I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks guys. And yes, this might be slowing down, but, as Psych said, it's due mostly to DRL and not lack of interest on my part. It will be picking up pace once again maybe a week or two from now. I will still be updating, but due to a little lack in time, and this being a battle scene (which requires a lot of work, mind you), I need to have a whole lot of time to finish it up. But don't give up hope.:)

Background:
Taran Barandai was born on sunny summer night in a small town on the planet Andoran. His father, a Geologist from the Couruscant Institude of Research and Development, was the person who invited him to the wonders of nature at the age of three. With his mother being one of the teachers in Andoran’s capital Dumuskas Taran was assigned to school not like most of the children I his age. Studying among children of the noble and rich he soon was confrontated to the differences in society. But even though his education was first class one of Andoran he still felt his addiction to the nature and its wildlife.
At the age of 11 as Taran was on a field study of the tectonic plate movement of the Andorian continents Taran and his father faced their near death as they accidentally stepped into a pack of Andoran Tigers. Their bad luck changed quickly as a debris avalanche – a result of the vast and seldom rainfalls of Andoran - buried nearly the whole pack of Tigers. Only a tigress and one of her catkin, though both lethal injured, survived the avalanche. Both were almost passed away as Taran and his father found the two tiger. Though unable to rescue the tigress Taran could save her “baby” by exposing his life to the thread of a second avalanche, although his father had told him otherwise. Despite the odds the tiger baby survived and Taran took it under his wing.
At the age of fourteen Taran’s life was struck hard by misfurtune. In a space of time of two weeks both his parants passed away on one of Andorans deadly desease. On his deathbed Taran’s father passed the family’s possessions to Taran. Among the family’s house and a small amount of money Taran’s father gave his son a weapon what had passed through generations of Barandai. A Herloss HBt-4 Blaster Rifle which was created by Taran’s ancestor Ularic Barandai I the days of the Old Republic.
Two years later due to the call of the uknown and the galactic freedom Taran sold his possessions and went away from his homeplanet acompanied by the grown-up Andoran Tiger he named Dokan. Taran joined the New Republic military and soon discovered that the life he lived on Andoran tought him more than just what he needed to survive. He was transferred due to the lack of pathfinder to a SpecForce Unit which was engaged in Sabotage and Infiltration operations to cut the supply and resource access of the Yevetan. Involved in many behind enemy lines operation he soon gain in rank and experience as scout even though his abilities as sharpshooter were still unmatched in his unit.
With the end of the Black Fleet Crisis Taran left the New Republic with his loyal Andoran Tiger Dokan at his side. Turning away from the galactic politics and eager to return to the nature Taran made his living with hunting. He started on his own to guide the few among the rich to the most dangerous predetors on the most different worlds just to hunt them down and kill them. Even though he knew that he killed those animals not for his survival but for the lust of some money throwing “noble” he found use of his skills and activity for his mind.
After eight years living this way he was confronted by a famous customer, Hiram Drayson, leader of the New Republic Intelligence who wanted to test Taran’s skills and wanted his reapplication to the New Republic military. After a short reflection on the curent situation in the galaxy provided by Drayson Taran accepted his offer and reinstalled to fight against the Yuuzhan Vong.

Description :
Taran Barandai stands 1.75m tall and is in the late twenties of his life his dark brown eyes deliver what he has done in his life. His dark brown skin and his short, curly hair are mostly covered with grey or black robes to shelter him against servere invironment.
His pet tiger Dokan stands almost 1.5 meter tall and has white fur with black strips.

Personality:
Taran relies on himself and close friend. The number of close frinds is tends towards one as he only considers Dokan as his only and best friend. Savin Zortune

Background:
Savin Zortune grew up on Uba 4 in the original home system of the Ubese. Orphaned when he was 3 years old a young Ubese couple took him in. The young couple belonged to one of the few clans that specialized in hand to hand combat. Long range weapons where also tuaght but hand to hand, swords, vibro-weapons and two-weapon fighting where the focus of their combat schools.

Growing up in this clan Cavin was taught practically since he was taken in, in martial arts, Two weapon fighting, and how to use them effectively against other opponents with all sort of weapons from around the galaxy.

That was not the only thing he learned while growing up. His species famous bug for technology got a hold of the young ubese in a different way then most others. He began learning aobut computers and slicing into off world networks and look up information.

One Day he saw something that interested him. A news blurb that did not espouse what all the other news stories were saying. So he followed up on it, little did he know he was looking at a story planted by the rebels. After awhile he began to believe that the Imperials where the ones that were lieing and covering up and blaming the rebels for stuff that they did.

So he started telling others what he had found out. After a bit he started vocally challenging his clans and the entire ubese culture about what they beleived. He even spoke out against his clans deal with the empire.

When he turned 18 a clan cleaner squad came after him. Having already taped into the clan security systems he knew they where coming. So having to fight only a few of his clan he escaped aboard an outgoing light freighter with his armor, weapons and a few other posessions hearing the clan chief exiling him forever and swearing that he would be dead in a few years time

He ended up freelancing his slicing skills out to get food, shelter and more importantly to stay ahead of other Clan mates hunting him. He then met a New republic officer, to get out of a bad situation where his clan was getting close to finding him he joined the NR army.

After several missions his unit was broken up and he was reassigned to a NR marine unit after passing the NR marine requirements. He is now looking forward to a new start and hopefully to clear his name.

Description:
Standing 1.778 meters tall (5 foot 10 inches), If you saw him out of his armor, he would have Pale white skin, brilliant green eyes and no hair anywhere on him. He has an athletic build that seems to lend you to think that he is very strong under the toned exterior. Although he wears his armor almost always, he walks with a barely contained energy.
Personality:
Outspoken on any issue relating to the empire, but does not really talk about his home or his clan, although he does warn people of being hunted by his clan. If he trusts you enough then stories of his youth on Uba 4. Always struggles with his inherited distrust of other species. Always tries to think ahead, especially when engaged with enemy forces.

Heyya, I'm kind of stressed at the moment, but here's a little something to let you know I'm still alive. I'll hopefully be able to post Brody's stats here and get an IC post up by Tuesday night.

This is my interpretation of the townhouse converted to a base that I envisioned Brody leading Burn back to when I wrote my portion of the intro.

(Btw, the Cryo unit is under the counter/tech console out in the garage, which is the blue bar beside the corner oil bath!)

The cyan is just general vehicle footprints.

Orange = Stairs (down from the street into the entrance, up to the next level, up into the garage)

Maroon rectangles are bunks, other maroon stuff is couch and chairs, no doubt picked from a local junkyard.

The cargo containers are jsut that. :)

Okay, I dont know what's wrong...I posted the attachment and...nothing...

Trying again...

EDIT: Noticed I forgot a slightly important part of any people-housing structure...the water closet!

Please consider the bottom of the circular room to have 2 refresher units instead of 3 bunks. Also, each of those corners on the top floor would have a shuttered window that also gave roof access. (Guard duty, anyone? ;))

Brody Ness: Adult Female Human, Soldier 8; Init +3 (+3 Dex); Def 19 (+3 Dex, +6 Class); Spd 8m (Armor); VP/WP 88/12; Atk +11/+6 melee (1d3+3, punch), +11/+6 or +8/+8/+8/+3 ranged (3d8+3, crit 18-20, Blaster [Heavy Pistol, BlasTech T-6]), +8/+8/+8/+3 or +7/+7/+7/+7/+2 ranged (4d8, crit 18-20, Blaster [Heavy Repeating]); SV Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +3; SZ M; FP: 0; Rep: +2; Str 17, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 13, Cha 13.

Equipment: Blaster [Heavy Pistol, BlasTech T-6], Blaster [Heavy Repeating], Camo Scout Armor (Damage Reduction: 4), Electrobinoculars, Field Kit, Medical Kit, Medpac x3, Military-Grade Comlink, Power pack x10, Sundries Kit, Tool kit, Utility Belt, vibrodagger (2d4).

Skills: Computer Use +13, Craft (armor) +5, Craft (blaster pistols and rifles) +10, Demolitions +13, Intimidate +12, Knowledge (Tactics) +13, Read/Write Basic, Repair +13, Speak Basic, Speak Huttese, Treat Injury +12

Feats: Armor Proficiency (light, medium), Combat Veteran (Repair), Far Shot, Improved Critical (Blaster [Heavy Repeating]), Multishot, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Weapon Focus (Blaster [Heavy Repeating]), Weapon Specialization (Blaster [Heavy Repeating]), Weapons Group Proficiency (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons)

Planned modifications:

Increase Armor speed to 10m
Reduce Rapid Shot feat penalty by 1 (repeater)
Increase range by x1.5 (to 45m) (repeater)
Increase Threat Range (T-6)
Reduce Rapid Shot Penalty (T-6)

Noticed a really dumb skill point allocation. Fixed, and added mods for the secondary weapon. Also added a vibrodagger, basically, the SW equivalent of a Ka-bar.

Also realized I never detailed the sundries kit, which is my own catch-all that, IMHO, every character should have. It includes: plastic bags (assorted sizes), zip ties (assorted sizes), thin wire (6m coil), monofilament (6m coil), glowlamp filters (red, yellow, blue, green), lighter, and, in Brody's case, a carton of cigarettes. If there's any problem with these mundanes, let me know.

Bio:

Brody Ness was born to a spice-addict mother and a violent drunk father in the Coruscant underworld. Her mom kicked out her dad when she was three and she hasn't seen him since. By age six, she was cooking her own meals, washing her own clothes, and rarely saw her mother. By age ten, she had already dabbled in spice use. By thirteen she'd left home and was living on the streets, a member of various gangs. At this point, Brody was addicted to several different drugs, and had already spent time in prison. She gained respect on the streets for being fearless and tough, despite her small stature (5' 5" 110 lbs).

Throughout her teenage years, her life was defined by drugs, crime, prison, and several suicide attempts. When she was seventeen, she was arrested after a particularly violent incident. She'd taken three vibroblade stabs to the torso that, by rights, should have killed her. Ironically, she was so drugged at the time that the drugs actually kept her alive. Still, she spent the next several months in a rehabilitation med-facility on Coruscant. Upon her release, local law enforcement put her in prison, pending transfer to a "social reeducation program", otherwise known as boot camp.

She spent the next year in this boot camp, and between fights with the guards and other young criminals, voilent withdrawl symptoms, and more intense physical training than she cared to think about, Brody actually found herself appreciating the focus the military program gave her. She also surprised herself with her natural marksmanship. At the end of the year, the recruiters from the New Republic military came around to all the trainees. Brody enlisted.

First attached to a reserve unit, Brody looked for every opportunity to prove herself. Eventually working her way to active combat duty, then into the special forces. Over this time, she also found her niche as an interesting example of a heavy weapons trooper. From the tough little thirteen year old gang member, to now, she retained the toughness of mind and body, as well as gaining the strength of years of weight-training, to make her the only human woman of her size to be in the heavy weapons field of the military, something she is incredibly proud of.

Description:

Short and slender, Brody is also very muscular. She has pale white skin and black hair, often worn in wild styles...a holdover from her days living on the street. The dark hair is contrasted by a pair of bright, ice blue eyes. Still, signs of Brody's tough past are everywhere. Her eyes are dark and sunken, scars lace all across her wrists and ankles, and her veins are a dark black-purple. Her upper arms sport several tatoos, and her face is home to many piercings.

Personality:

Seemingly cold and bitter to those she doesn't know, Brody makes a fiercely loyal friend to those who manage to break through her world-weary shell. To those who cross her, she makes a cold foe, but she usually manages to control herself. Still, most people that meet her feel she exudes defiant confidence, as well as a fighter's spirit. Most people also want to be liked by the young woman they have described as dark, mysterious, and on more than one occasion, scary.

Goals:

Brody wants one thing above all else: respect. She is willing to do whatever it takes to earn the respect of her peers, superiors, and the people who have, at times, been assigned to serve under her. Though she doesn't seek out command positions, she makes a capable leader, ful of determination and able to make tough decisions quickly.

Here is just a short question from a confused player. According to cold's list of modifiations and his total skill modifier for Craft (blaster rifles and pistols) of +10, I'd like to ask if we are allowed to make (in cold and my case) 2 modification for each blaster pistol and rifle we own?
cold has listed four modifications (two for the heavy repeatig blaster and two for the T-6 heavy blaster pistol). What is this all about? I'm just curious...

:EDIT
BTW, cold I think you forgot to add the +2 additional damage from the Weapon Specialization to the heavy repeating blaster damage.

Well, I didn't forsee this problem occurring (though with the amount of sleep I've had, I can hardly see the keyboard). What I'm going to say though, is that you can have TWO mods to BOTH weapons, if you have a +10 bonus. So Uron, you are now entitled to Two mods to your pistol.

Yah! I made a post!

But seriously...

Since everybody's doing the weapon mod thing, I'd like to join in! Burn's weapons were modded by his last unit's armorer, since he doesn't have the requisite craft ranks to do them himself. The E-11 carbine was captured and modded for increased range, while Burn himself built his electrostaff and had the armorer customize it to accomadate the retractable ends. I have calculated the costs of this gear against his starting credits, if that's no problem.

My request is for a +2 Strength 'droid upgrade package', an item that was suggested in Jedi Counseling 53. The cost is 4,000 credits, with a Craft (droids) check of DC 20. No weight is listed, but 4 or 5 kg sounds reasonable. Burn still has about 7,000 unspent credits, and there really isn't anything I can think of he would need, aside from a bit of extra 'power'. If there's a droid shop in town, and one of our Repair specialists is willing to install it, I'll happily fork out the credits and pay any labor costs. Just let me know is this is okay or not. Either way I'm still gonna kick it with you all.:)

Oh, by the way, here's Burn's vitals, transferred from the recruitment thread.

Burn (IG-192), NR Marine

During the last few days of the Clone Wars, Holowan Mechanicals dispatched two new IG-100 series MagnaGuards, IGs-192 and 193, to Utapau, to replace losses sustained onboard the Invisible Hand during General Grievous’ failed abduction of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Grievous specifically requested the two replacements be stripped of all advanced programming, in order for him to train the droids as he saw fit. Having more than enough bodyguards and protectors assigned to him, he decided to train these two new arrivals in advanced tactics and place them as field commanders in his vast army. But with the sudden arrival of clone troopers led by General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Grievous’ plans, as well as his life, were soon about to come to an end.

Joining in the intense fighting, IGs-192 and 193 fought back to back, cutting down dozens of clone troops in an effort to rejoin their General. But when IG-193 was destroyed by precision blaster fire, IG-192 quickly re-calculated his odds and decided that he preferred to not be dismantled, blasted or scrapped, and made a daring escape to the upper launch bays. Suffering numerous dings, scratches and scrapes on the way, IG-192 barely made it to the flight deck in time. Purloining a Trade Federation courier ship, he hastily ordered the ship’s droid pilot to take him anywhere and fast. The pilot plotted a course for Tatooine, the most remote world it could calculate a jump for in a hurry, and slipped past the invading clone forces.

Having monitored comm traffic and official news reports during his long journey to the outer rim, IG-192 realized that with the deactivation of the Separatist forces, he was now officially out of a job and likely to be destroyed or detained by imperial troops on sight if discovered. He laid low for several months, working as a general labor droid at the Mos Eisley spaceport and hiring himself out as a personal bodyguard on occasion. IG-192 soon began to notice a drastic change as more and more imperials began to garrison in the remote town, bringing with them veteran clone troops from the war. Though his position kept him in the background and fairly unobserved, he knew it was only a matter of time before someone recognized who and what he was. Gathering his meager possessions and credits, he attempted to charter a cruiser off-world when the vessel’s crew was suddenly detained by stormtroopers conducting a random patrol. One of the troopers, a grizzled clone who had seen action on Utapau, recognized IG-192 as one of General Grievous’ MagnaGuards, and immediately called his squad over to reinforce him. Outnumbered and outgunned, IG-192 struggled to escape, but was downed by a precise ion blast from one of the troopers. Captured and deactivated shortly afterwards, IG-192 was taken into imperial custody and shipped off-world.

A few weeks later, IG-192 was placed in an imperial training facility on Coruscant, to be used as a melee training droid for imperial officers and special operations troopers. Though fitted with a restraining bolt, his memory was not erased. The officer in charge of combat training had decided to leave the droid as it was, giving his troops a top-notch opponent to test their skills upon. Unable to function freely, IG-192 was forced to fight budding storm commandos and elite troops for years on end, with no chance to escape his fate. IG-192 suffered at the hands of his tormentors, being subjected to nearly every conceivable type of weapon in the imperial arsenal. He had been stabbed, bashed, dented and blasted thousands of times, and had even been subjected to flamethrower gouts, scarring his already battered frame. But his captors unwittingly made a fatal error in keeping the droid’s memory intact. Over time, as his knowledge of combat techniques accumulated in his heuristic processor, the droid developed his own distinct personality. Not only did the droid learn to despise stormtroopers in general, but it soon realized that it hated the Empire itself. Everything the droid had been designed to fight for reinforced itself in his developing personality. Oppressed, but unable to escape, IG-192’s fate seem locked in place, never to change.

IG-192 served faithfully, if unwillingly, until the liberation of Coruscant some years after the official fall of the Empire. When New Republic troops seized Coruscant they discovered the droid, shut down and locked away in a sub-level of the combat training facilities. Grateful for the opportunity to be free from his torment, IG-192 graciously offered his services to the New Republic military. Though somewhat apprehensive about his offer, the New Republic decided to give the droid a shot, and assigned him to their special operations program, having no clear indication of what else to do with him. Taking the name Burn as a testament to surviving numerous clashes with flamethrower-wielding troopers, he became a stalwart defender of the New Republic and a dedicated soldier.

Over the years, Burn has been assigned to dozens of units within the New Republic military, performing everything from reconnaissance and infiltration to infantry patrols and shipboard assaults. Having originally been designed to function best in small units, Burn flourished in his new profession, bonding with his squad mates and performing his duties with exceptional skill. Known by some SpecForce troopers as “Old Reliable”, Burn rarely questions his orders and has been known to wade through intense combat to come to the rescue of a comrade. Burn sees himself on equal footing with his fellow organics, and steadily works to improve his relations with droids and non-droids alike, though he has been known to bully prissy protocol droids around when the mood strikes him.

Though primarily a melee combatant, wielding his signature electrostaff with remarkable agility and grace, Burn has taken a particular interest in marksmanship, and is widely touted as being a crack shot with his preferred weapon, a captured stormtrooper E-11 carbine. He has been upgraded several times over the years, having had his armor lightened, as well as having a few pieces of additional gear installed. He is quite proud of his three newest additions, an integrated secure comlink, an audio recording unit and an electroshock probe, which he has found useful for defeating electronic locks and disabling other combat automata.

Newly assigned as a New Republic Marine, Burn is beginning the next step on his journey. With the steady retreat of Imperial Remnant force and the recent invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong, Burn has found a new enemy to focus his talents on, hoping to teach the Vong that just because one is not truly alive does not mean one is not a dangerous foe.

Burn (IG-192): medium fourth degree walking combat droid Scout 2/Soldier 6; Init +6 (+2 Dex, +4 Improved Initiative); Defense +17 (+5 class, +2 Dex); DR 3; Spd 10 m; VP/WP 74/15; Atk+11/+6 melee (electrostaff, 2d6+4/20) or +9/+4 and +9 melee (electrostaff, 2d6+3 and 2d6+1/20) or +9/+4 ranged (blaster carbine, 3d8/19-20 or DC 15 stun, range 30 m) or +10 melee (electroshock probe, DC 15 Stun vs. organics; 2d6 vs. droids) or +10/+5 melee (hand, 1d4+3); SQ Droid Quirk (Reliable), Manufacturer Characteristics (Holowan Mechanicals; +2 equipment bonus on Intimidate and Spot checks), Trailblazing; SV Fort +9, Ref +6, Will +5; SZ M; Face/Reach 2 m by 2 m/2 m; FP 0, DSP 0; Rep +2; Str 17, Dex 15, Con 15, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 8, Challenge Code D.

Hey, johnny, I think you haven't used all the ability points you had.

Strenght 15 = 8 points
Dexterity 15 (13 + 2) = 5 points
Constitution 15 = 8 points
Intelligence 14 (16 - 2) = 10 points
Wisdom 12 = 4 points
Charisma 8 (10 - 2) = 0 points

This is without the Ability increase at every 4th level a total ability score of 35 and not 38 as Mack told us. You would still have three more Ability points to spent and the two Ability increases of the levels 4 and 8.

Ah, but you forget that Burn is a droid young grasshopper, and doesn't get the luxury of point buy, and can only increase his Int, Wis or Cha at ability levels. I used the IG-100 base stats from the WotC version and spent my 4th and 8th level points on Wis and Int.

Unless Mack says otherwise, I'm permanently at 15s for my physical abilities, hence the Strength package. I'm looking at it this way, I've only got to pay 4,000 bucks for a +2 STR boost and find someone to install it. Not a bad deal. Later on down the road, I can buy a +2 Dex or Con upgrade or maybe spend 16,000 grand on a +4 STR package instead.

Upgrades are a droid's best friend.:)

Mack I have a question. In the arms and equipment guide it says take 1/4th of the total price of the item then add it to the original price of the item and that is the price of the modifications, well if you do that then i would take my character 20 game days to modify Brody's camo scout armor with just one mod and it would take brody, taking 10, 100 days to modify her armor with just one mod. Now to me that is just excessive. If you just take the cost of one or two mods, in this case 1,500 to 3,000 credits, then it would take me, with brody's help 5 days for two mods. Now this ot me makes much more sense, this is with favorable circumstances.

Just something i thought I would bring to your attention becuase my next post will be in the game, with my character about to offer Brody help with her camo scout armor. and 20 or 100 days just seems way to long. Anyways Let me know what you think.

Thanks for your time.

Till Later,

I dont think that there is a new squad. I believe all the reinforcements are being organized into the original two groupings, with Brody and maybe a few others attached directly to Lt. Jace as a specialist of sorts. I'd imagine each squad would have a leader, 2IC, scout, techie, and possibly demo.

I have to second cold's statement here.
Psych take the "Well done Sarge" remark as you like. But nonetheless I think Taran's words made clear that he didn't want to fight a droid. The rest is your assumption, not mine or Taran's.

And for the rest, Taran said "Well done, Sarge!" not because of being disappointed of not fighting a droid. NO! He said it to tease the Sergeant. Sergeant Ven was obviously trying to make Taran fight Burn. But both "contestants" denied to fight echother due to obvious reasons. The statement should sigalize Ven that it's his "fault" that Burn went away.

Actually, Ven palys on the presumed fact that Taran doesn't want to fight Burn-he set up the situation so that Taran wouldn't continue to insult Burn-whether it worked or not.

So my assumption was correct...

But both "contestants" denied to fight echother due to obvious reasons. The statement should sigalize Ven that it's his "fault" that Burn went away.

Regardless of how jp intended his statement to go-we'll have ot hear from him-Ven thinks that Burn is simply (insert adjective here) enough not to fight Taran, this time. Ven thinks, be it right or wrong, that Burn is upset with Taran, not him.

So now we need jp, I guess, to let us in on what Burn thinks.

johnny thinks this is just funny as hell!

Seriously, we are all just roleplaying, right? I think if there is some in-character tension between the squad, then that is just something that we get to work out between us, and we should have fun with it. No unit begins functioning as a team without bickering and manuevering. Its all part of the team-building process.

Once the blaster bolts and thud bugs start whizzing around, we will all have a common enemy to focus our energies on. Its not only natural, but healthy as well. A team needs a bonding 'experience' before it gels together. Trust me, I've been in squads that absolutely loathed one another, from the highest ranking NCO down to the lowliest private. But once we get together in the field and get down to business, those tensions will become less and less important.

Unless there is some real-life out-of-character hostility that I've completely missed, I say we go with the tension for a bit. This is what roleplaying is all about. I can assure you that I harbor no ill will towards any of you. Anything I say in-character is just that. In-character.

Uh, hope that didn't sound like a lecture or anything. Just wanted to make sure we are in this together to have fun.:)

By the way, Mack, a squad leader (in the SW universe) is normally a Sergeant (E-5), plain and simple. A Sergeant First Class (E-7) however, is a much higher ranking NCO, and is usually in charge of a platoon (three or more squads). Not sure if it actually matters, but I just thought I'd point it out. No biggie.

OK, I'll shut up now.:D

So, Psych get this stuff into IC and you'll get the reply. ;)

Thanks johnny for that. I've always been a little fuzzy with ranks and such (being a civvie:D). So everything should be fixed now, we just need a few names for some of our privates. I'll leave that up to you guys, so be creative.

Uron, I like that headset. If you can come up with stats for it, I'll let you guys have it.

P.S. I also agree with the RPing quality. Thanks guys.

<table width=80% cellpadding=1><tr><b>CT-3 Interface Comlink</b></td></tr></table><table width=90% cellpadding=1></td></tr><tr><td><b>Cost:</b> 2500</td><td><b>Weight:</b> 0.5 kg</td></tr><tr><td><b>Availability:</b> Prevalent, military</td><td><b>Era:</b> NJO</td></tr> </table><table width=80% cellpadding=1></td></tr></table>

Though originally intended for the use of droid operations in hostile conditions these units have been seen use in military operations for the sole purpose of communication. The latest design of these units featured a heads-up-display for incoming messages in written form as well as for tactical information of movement.
The military standart CT-3/&alpha; has a built in range and vector calculator providing the wearer a certain degree of details on range and movement.
The CT-3/&alpha; reduces the range penalty for every weapon by 1 for every 10m up to a range of 30m and grants a +1 bonus on range attacks for the same range. After a range of 100m the computer in the CT-3/&alpha; is not able to determine movement and range of the target therefore no range (in meter) is visible on the HUD.
The decription used by the CT-3 is top of the line and can almost keep up with the Naboo Technologies Secure-A3 Comlink. For the CT-3/&alpha; the decription and encryption abilities of the comlink are the same as the of the Naboo Technologies Secure-A3 Comlink. The CT-3 can sent encrypted messages if linked to a computer requiring a succesful Computer Use DC30 (CT-3/&alpha;: Computer Use DC35) to decrypt the message.
The CT-3 has an effective range of 20km overland and in very low orbit. The CT-3/&alpha; has a range of 50km without the risk of suffering tranmission-quality.

Well opinions and suggestions are very appreciated.

Speaking for myself, everything in IC on my part is strictly roleplaying. I actually thrive as a roleplayer on diversity and tension within IC. Makes for a much more interesting game. Kepp up the good RP everyone.

Hey, Psych, I hope you're not too upset but I think there is an error in your character. The prerequesitions for the Master Duelist Prestige Class is a Base Attack Bonus of 6. And with Scoundrel 3/Soldier 3 you only have a Base Attack Bonus of 5. Therefore you have to drop one level of Master Duelist and pick one level of Scoundrel or Soldier.

Sorry for the nit-picking. :(

OK, lot's of stuff to cover...

Uron, your comlink looks good, but I'd boost the trans range to 50 km, so as to keep it on par with other standard military comlinks. Also, there should be no need to link up to a computer to send encrypted info, it should come pre-loaded with crypto technology. A military comlink virtually requires built-in encryption. Otherwise it looks great, especially the mini-HUD.

And I've got to ask, what language are you and Lai speaking? I get the gist, but I'm kinda curious here, as I've never read any of the Black Fleet stuff.

next....

Mack, if you want I can come up with NPC stats for the rest of the squad if need be. I've got plenty of generic troopers I can customize for pretty much any situation. And don't hesitate to ask me for any advice relating to military matters. I've got you covered there.

and finally...

The RPing is damn good here, better than I anticipated on all parts, even mine. There is so much to feed off and improvise with. Keep up the good work, everybody.

Uron Teff
13 April 2006, 03:09 PM
Well Taran and Lai are speaking Yevethan after they have spent two week in an undercover mission on Kojash (a mining planet).

Too much commendation, johnny. ;)

And as for the comlink. I checked the A3-Secured comlink from the Arms and Equipmant Guide and I just took all the features of the comlink and combined it with what I had in mind. And reduced the range to 40 km. But I can change this.
And this explains why the comlink has an encryption/decryption option. ;)

But I didn't change any of the feats! AUUGGHH!! Flippin' Gen!

15 April 2006, 09:50 AM
Don't worry Psych, I'll give you a hand here. It sounds like you are using the 'Kathmann' character program. If so, it doesn't list 'Dodge' as a prereq for Master Duelist. Try this on for size and let me know if this works. I had to drop of few points in a few skills to make it work, but it is as close as I could get it to your original.

Ven ‘Na’Duel’ Lasray: male Togruta Scoundrel 4/Soldier 3/Master Duelist 1; Init +5 (+5 Dex); Defense +22 (+7 class, +5 Dex), 25 with Canny Defense; Spd 10 m; VP/WP 70/12; Atk+12/+7 melee (vibrorapier, 2d6+1/20) or +11/+6 ranged (sporting blaster rifle, 3d6+1/19-20 or DC 13 stun, range 50 m) or +11/+6 ranged (heavy blaster pistol, 3d8+1/20 or DC 18 stun, Blaster, range 8 m); SQ Species traits (+2 bonus on Hide Checks, Spatial Awareness), Canny defense, Illicit barter, Lucky (1/day), Precise attack +1; SV Fort +5, Ref +12, Will +6; SZ M; FP 5, DSP 0; Rep +2; Str 8, Dex 20, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 14, Challenge Code D.

Equipment: LaserHone Duelist vibrorapier, SoroSuub X-45 sniper rifle, SoroSuub Kylan-3 heavy blaster, cape.

Skills: Balance+11, Bluff+12, Computer Use+13, Hide+16, Intimidate+13, Jump+3, Knowledge (tactics)+13, Listen+7, Move Silently+9, Sense Motive+10, Sleight of Hand+14, Spot+10.

Feats: Armor Proficiency (light), Combat Reflexes, Dodge, Heroic Surge, Skill Emphasis (Sleight of Hand), Weapon Finesse (vibrorapier), Weapon Focus (vibrorapier), Weapon Group Proficiencies (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, primitive weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons).

If this isn't good enough, I can re-work it if you want. It only takes me like 5 minutes to knock out a character if I have all the minor details set.

Here are the other three NPCs for First Squad. I've given a very brief description as well as a few quotes to round them out.

Bezor Zaineb is the squad's combat engineer and resident grouch. Uncommonly pessimistic, even for an Advosze, Bezor suffers from clinical depression, and will not hesitate to let everyone else know just how terrible he feels. Though dedicated to soldiering, he prefers building things (and subsequently blowing them up) over social interaction. He is also an expert armorer and locksmith.

"Fine, I'll disarm it, but I won't enjoy it."
"Fine, I'll shoot back, but we're probably all going to die anyway."

Bezor Zaineb: male Advozse Tech Specialist 4/Soldier 4; Init +2 (+2 Dex); Defense +19 (+5 class, +2 Dex, +2 natural); Spd 10 m; VP/WP 64/17; Atk+10/+5 ranged (blaster rifle, 3d8+3/19-20 or DC 16 stun, range 30 m) or +9/+9/+4 ranged (blaster rifle w/Rapid Shot) or +9/+4 ranged (blaster pistol, 3d6/20 or DC 15 stun, range 10 m) or +8/+8/+3 ranged (blaster pistol w/Rapid Shot) or +9/+4 melee (vibrodagger, 2d4+2/20); SQ Species traits (Herbivorous, Low-Light Vision, Natural Armor +2), Instant mastery (Search), Research, Mastercrafter (armor +1); SV Fort +8, Ref +5, Will +4; SZ M; FP 2, DSP 1; Rep +2; Str 14, Dex 14, Con 17, Int 16, Wis 13, Cha 10, Challenge Code D.

Equipment: customized BlasTech A280 blaster rifle (Rapid Shot penalty -1), customized BlasTech DL-18 blaster pistol (Rapid Shot penalty -1), personalized mastercraft (+1) combat jumpsuit (DR 4, Max Dex bonus +4, ACP -2), vibroblade, comlink, electrobinoculars, utility belt, 8 detonite charges, 8 remote timers.

Skills: Computer Use+12, Craft (armor)+15, Craft (blaster pistols and rifles)+7, Demolitions+19, Disable Device+14, Intimidate+5, Knowledge (engineering)+13, Knowledge (chemistry)+9, Knowledge (tactics)+7, Read/Write Advb, Read/Write Basic, Repair+10, Search+9, Speak Advb, Speak Basic, Spot+5, Treat Injury+6.

Feats: Armor Proficiency (light), Cautious, Combat Expertise, Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Skill Emphasis (Craft [armor]), Skill Emphasis (Demolitions), Weapon Focus (blaster rifle), Weapon Group Proficiencies (blaster pistols, blaster rifles, heavy weapons, simple weapons, vibro weapons).

***

Nils Mott is the squad's anti-everything specialist. Large even for a Herglic, he uses his immense strength to literally rip his opponents to pieces. Though he appears uncommonly angry, Nils possesses a fairly well-rounded sense of humor and enjoys stuying historical texts in his off-time. He typically carries a heavy blaster cannon as his main weapon, using a backpack-mounted power generator to provide nearly limitless fire support. At the Battle of Dantooine, he made a substantial profit by staging an impromptu Yuuzhan Vong-throwing contest. His best throw to date is 28 meters.

"I don't know what the fuss is about. Vong are easy to kill. You just grab the head with one hand, the legs with the other, then twist. Works every time."
"Place your bets, gentlemen. I'll wager I can get 25 meters from this one!"

A militant S'kytri, Kesskel Teers is the squad's recon and aerial weapon specialist. He entered the New Republic military primarily to challenge himself and travel the galaxy for free. A notorious tightwad, Kesskel hoards his paycheck greedily, never spending a credit unless absolutely unavoidable. Another veteran of the Battle of Dantooine, Kesskel served with Nils Mott, where the two engaged in several unique contests revolving around killing Yuuzhan Vong warriors. Kesskel will typically fly into combat, opening up with a blaster/grenade barrage and occassionaly dive bombing into his opponents with a set vibroblade. He also came up with the unusual, but highly effective tactic of grabbing an enemy, carrying him aloft, and then dropping him from obscene heights.

"What do you mean I've got to buy another one? Shouldn't it be issued to me or something?"
"Hello there Mr. Yuuzhan Vong Warrior, and welcome to Scarhead Airlines! We are currently cruising at 400 meters and, oops...sorry about that. Should've fastened your safety belt there, buddy."

Well despite all of Psycho's character issues I'd like to say that the map you've posted Mack isn't working with me, somehow. It says that the .zip file has been corrupted or is a past of a uncomplete zip arhive.

And PsychoInfiltrator if your name matters so much to you, I'll address you by writing your full name. Nonetheless what's in the name? And just as a question, when did I ever complain about my name? Or what were you refering to by saying

And PsychoInfiltrator if your name matters so much to you, I'll address you by writing your full name. Nonetheless what's in the name?

Well, in English, 'Psycho' means crazy. When used on its own, it has a connotative meaning of some axe-murder running around killing peopel at night and doing various other horrible things. So, since most people prefer not to spell my long username, I came up with an acceptible shortform, which I have grown to like. It's short, sweet, and IMO sounds cool.

In order to avoid having to tell this to everyone, I long ago copy and pasted a quote form Ronin into my sig, hoping to save myself some typing.

Or what were you refering to by saying

Basically, I was saying (in joke form), that you, given especially everything said in the BORB threads, especially by Bocce, that you ought to be the last person to call me crazy. It was meant as a joke, not an insult-note the smilie.

And you're right, the map doesn't work.

Especially when said Kender borrows books from a Gnome librarian. ;)

Psych, unseen below the icing, decides to activate the following special ability:

Pig: SQ.

Once per day, the afflicted character may activate this ability. The character may then choose to consume up to two tonnes of food, exact amount at his or her discression, and proceed to not bloat up like a pig. Instead, the effects of any sugar contained in said food is multipleid by a fcator of 1000.

Okay everyone, I know that this has been a fairly slow-running game, and I just want to say that it will be that way for a little while longer. I'd say probably for the next 2-3 weeks. I'm fairly small time here on holonet but you might know me from BoRB. If you do you also know that it suffered a long and painful death (BoRB, may it rest in peace). You may also know (if you go back far enough) that I played a certain Lance Corporal Jas Lafoto.
