A good mix is a d4, three to five d6s, three to five d8's, two d10's, one percentile, a d12, and a d20.

Also, for future reference, since most of your questions seem specific to the d20 Star Wars game, you may want to post 'em down there. The point of the General forum here is for non-system specific questions and answers.

I GM alot, but all my players seem to have their own dice . . . but I have:

10 d20
4 d12
3-5 %die
10 d10
20 d8 (lightsabers baby!)
80-100 d6 (hehe!)
5 d4

And I wish I had about 5-10 more d4s and about 3-5 more d12s

Sometimes its just nice to have enough dice for a group of 5-8 people to play with just my dice.

It's probably best to have a D20 for each player, plus one for the GM. If you're doing starship combat, it's important to have plenty of D10s. Also, you should have enough dice to represent most used hand weapons with one roll - normally three D4s (for hold-outs), three D6s (for pistols) and three D8s (for rifles and heavy pistols).

Yea...wheather you are using D20 or not it is always best to have enough dice so that if you are playing with a bunch of forgetfull boneheads you can provide enough dice. Also if you end up getting freaky about lucky or jinxed dice it is always nice to have some to switch out. It always happens;)
