• Kyle Katarn

    Kyle Katarn began his journey that would eventually lead him to Jedi Knighthood by joining the Imperial forces at an early age. When his father was killed during a raid on an Alliance base, and he was then denied funeral leave, Kyle learned to hate the Empire as much as any Rebel. Eventually, he defected to the Rebel Alliance and, under the orders of Mon Mothma, helped steal the plans for the original Death Star. Following the battle of Yavin, Kyle was instrumental in foiling the Empire's experimental Darktrooper Project. He formed the Katarn Commandos, using them as a special forces unit in order to bring down Rom Mohc's Arc Hammer and end the Darktrooper threat once and for all. When he retired from service, Lieutenant Page took control of the commando unit. A short time later, he was informed by the spirit of a deceased Jedi of his Jedi heritage; while his father had not been a Jedi Knight, he was strong in the Force and had bequeathed a large amount of Jedi knowledge to his son. While in the pursuit of the Dark Jedi Jerec, and the Valley of the Jedi, Kyle found his father's lightsaber and a holocron disk which taught him the ways of the Force. Eventually, Kyle was able to foil Jerec and his band of Dark Jedi, though he almost fell to the Dark Side himself when confronting his father's murderer. Following the incident at the Valley of the Jedi, Kyle completed his training as a Jedi at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, refining the skills he already possessed, and helping Mara Jade briefly hone her own skills.
