Has anyone else seen this?
Admittedly, I haven't been a big gamer in well over a decade, but I was still surprised that news of a game like this had slipped totally under my radar.
After seeing an offhand reference to it a few days ago, it's been occupying my mind ever since, to the point that I'm seriously considering a few PC upgrades and a HOTAS setup.
Anyone else excited for a new SW space flight sim?
I've been looking at the gameplay coming out today, and... well X-wing it ain't. It looks closer to Ace Combat than anything from the old days. Its really pretty, don't get me wrong, and I'll probably play it someday. But, maybe its old timer syndrome coming out, but all the gameplay I see with all the flight sim lite stuff, and these guys going on about the power management system (which come on x-wing 1993 did that), but its underwhelming.
Eh, I'll try and be more positive. Maybe the story will be good.

I'm delighted that a lot of the fighter UI are based on the old X-Wing space combat sim.
It looks good, no doubt: slick visuals, great action, and it's trying to fill a long-ignored need for a SW space sim.
But something just...feels off to me.
Maybe it's EA. Maybe it's the disappointingly small multiplayer mode (come on, can't we get a full squadron, 12v12?). I think a big part of it is the small number of ships for each side.
Maybe I've just had my heart set on an HD remaster of TIE Fighter for too long. That, or something like that that encompasses all the canon eras would be great: it would need to be a PC game because of the more limited HD space on consoles, but each era would have its own unique campaign/storymode for all factions involved (good-sized campaigns, too, not just three missions and you're done), and give you a chance to fly every fighter from said era...
Maybe I just want too much.
I've heard some good things about it. It has some pretty graphics, but some oddities as well. Only time will tell.
I picked it up for the PS 4 last month. I like it, but there's still some glitches in it. It freezes up on me and I have to restart the game almost every 2 hours of play.
