    Default Finally.... Goldilocks!

So, the real deal has finally been found:

And it would take us only about 400 generations to get there:

Maybe something like an Outbound Flight? I know several current plausible plans for humans to mars intend one way missions, but this'd be a whole other ball game.

That's pretty cool, actually. And models speculate that Earth is on the small end of habitability, so 2.5x bigger shouldn't be an issue. Nice to know that we have an option when the Sun dies.

We'd have to come up with something like a massive ark, where hundreds of thousands of people and animals could be put, to live through the seemingly endless trip, until they arrived at the planet (and then hope it could actually be settled).

    Interesting news indeed!

A couple of thoughts came to mind...if we were to send such a 'generation' colony ship and, in the intervening years either:
    A. learn more about the planet and find it uninhabitable. D'oh! Or worse: inhabited and hostile.
    B. develop faster-than-light travel and end up arriving way before the original colony ship. The first meeting of the colony ship and the beat-them-to-it colonists could be interesting!

I've thought about writing a series novel set on board a generation ship, following it from its launch to its arrival. I started but moved on to other projects.

Seedships. What will happen is that we freeze a few embryos, then have a robotic starship go there and create a new colony, and raise up the colonists.

Obviously, this would not happen in the near future; maybe in a century, if technological advancing keeps accelerating. And it probably won't be by any Americans, since we have issues with stem cells and that sort of thing. But hey, maybe if they're Japanese colonists, they'll make Gundams and---nevermind. I'll shut up now.
