"Rangers of the New Republic" - Between Freedom and Darkness

This will be an episodic nature play-by-post game set in the early "New Republic" time period, just a few years after Return of the Jedi.

Players can make a character that is freedom-minded, someone that may be trying to make their way through the somewhat tumultuous times after the Galactic Empire has officially fallen and the New Republic has formed from the Rebel Alliance and is attempting to establish freedom and order through the galaxy.

As I get a character or more to be presented (feel free to post a character to this thread), I can start work on the first episode and this game can begin.

Players will be free to "drop in" and "drop out", kind of like guest appearances in an episode. I'm hoping that I can get through an episode in a week or two, that way there is more opportunity for people to potentially join in (or bow out if they don't want to continue).


Think of this game setting to be roughly akin, though alongside, what you see in the Mandalorian show. No, you don't need to be a Mandalorian, this setting is just going to be "adjacent" to that setting.

Just so you didn't think I disappeared, I'm mulling over character ideas...kind of considering the idea of a Ranger...or even a deputy, that was wronged somehow by outlaws out on the frontiers of wild space, and now they're using the badge as a shield for their vengeance. Still definitely more good than evil...but perhaps a little less "squeaky clean" than many rangers.

Hey, as evidenced by Cara Dune, not every "Ranger" is squeaky clean and good through and through. You could be former Rebel soldier. Former Imperial. Former Bounty Hunter (lost work when New Republic stopped using contract hunters and went to Guilds). Former Smuggler (lost work when Rebels became legitimate government and didn't need things smuggled to them). Or maybe someone completely new to things, like fresh from the "farm" and gung-ho for the New Republic and wanting to help spread "truth and justice and freedom" while hunting for remnant Imperials. Or a new explorer hired by the New Republic to not only find new, useful things for them, but also to scout for hidden Imperial remnants. There's quite a variety you could be.
