Mission 1 Launch:
Time of Day: Mid afternoon, ~3pm
The sun was bright, high in the cloud puffed sky. A slight cool breeze made the perfect blend between warm and cool, making for a nice promising afternoon for shopping or a relaxing stroll & picknick at the park
Erron, Seth, Aerex & Randyl drove through the city like normal people do. The checkpoints went as normal for the ones they couldn't avoid. And they arrived at Bouncies without incident.
Miiri & Skye were found sitting at a booth, both wearing dark outfits. Miiri also had a dark old ball cap on, probably bought from one of the patrons for probably as little as a free drink, cute smile and a thankyou. Or maybe it was from the 'lost & found' bin. It was anyone's guess. Drinks and snaks were brought to the table as 'compliments of the house' for Erron & Seth and the two stoners as they passed the time for the arranged pickup. Skye seemed content, Miiri was a mix between curious and anxious, even offered a more enjoyable way for the group to pass the next half hour to 45 minutes - at the building's top floor which featutred a sauna room, hot tub, maseuse room, and various other luxuries. Top floor was mostly Yeaghan's personal residence and for special guests. There was even a rooftop padio deck and pool.
Word was mentioned about the two stoners being representitives for the 'group'. Miiri dug out a compact comlink and whispered something into it. The big black Togorian bouncer came to the table looking serious. Aerex & Randyl both cringed, "Dude, we like just got here. We're behaving k? Right guys?"
The Togorian bared his teeth mennacingly as the color drained from their wide eyed faces, held it for a few long seconds before letting out a mewling chuckle of amusement. "Yerrh invitehd teh ssee theh bosss" he pointed at the stoners with a clawed finger then headed towards the set of double doors. A&R simply looked at each other, shrugged, then left.
The remainder of the hour sorta melted away sipping drinks, munching snaks and listning to the music. Miiri was still the playful one with a few attempts at 'footsie' with Seth. In contrast, Skye wasn't much of a talker, as the big, strong, silent type. Unless it was something like sports, weapons, or muscle building.
Time of Day: Mid afternoon, ~4pm
Kyle and the group arrived near the bar. Parked in the back alley actually. They waited for a few minutes. The bar's back door opened.
A 6ft+ tall towering broad shouldered female zabrak with deep purple hair and blueish highlights stepped out first, making sure the coast was clear and spotted the van. Her muscular frame of a competition shock-boxer filled her dark hooded sweater half unzipped with a chainlink shirt showing underneath. Completing her outfit was leather pants and a chain belt, hiking boots, and a pair of fingerless studded leather gloves. She held the door open for the others.
Second to step out was an average height female Zeltron in a dark jumpsuit, an old cap. She looked around curiosly, pointed at the van and turned her head back to someone behind her asking away. Seth and Erron were next to follow. The zeltron appeared quite comfortable around Seth, even if it only was one way, looping an arm around his.
Arriving at the van, the zeltron reached within her jumpsuit and pulled out the documents. "Wow, this is quite a crew you've got here," she said in amazement, eying up all the guys, and spotting all three gals." turning her head to Seth, "Who's the lucky one?" she said with a wink.
"By the way, I forgot to return this to you," Skye said thoughtfully and softspoken, reaching into her belt and pulling out the knife she originally found on Erron, handing it over to Erron as they stood by the van.
Being the friendly talkative one, "Hi, I'm Miiri, and this is Skye." the zeltron said to the group with a smile.
Spotting the young boy in the back seat next to the Twi'lek, speaking to Seth looking a bit perplexed, "I'm usually a pretty good judge of character but I never would have pegged you as the father type. Handsome kid though."
Inside the van, Tetengo looked at the ladies, at the zabrak in particular, and obnoxiously commented "Whoa, she looks tough. That is a 'she' right? I bet she could bench-press this van, with us all in it! I thought our principal could bench press the stuffing oughta anyone. She looks like she could waste him in 2 seconds flat!""
The four of them climbed into the van, the two new arrivals getting the back seat with Troy which was a bit of a tight fit with 3 persons per bench - an extended length van model or the extra bench sanse cargo space could've come in handy here. Skye ended up crawling into the back space past the rear seat bewteen it and the gear. Tetengo was still small enough that he was able to sit on the floor between the benches and the door, or even back of the van and out of sight with Skye before they reached the checkpoint.
Troy eyed them cautiously and didn't say much more than a brief hi.
Tetengo was a bit nervous when Skye climbed in, fitting into the back. Maybe a bit too nervous realizing she might've heard his comments.
Skye partially smilled at Tetengo, quite used to getting such reactions about her size and build.
Everyone seated, forged papers ready, Kyle proceeded to drive them to the city's perimeter.
It wasn't too long of a ride. Save for the few checkpoint stops, it was quite smooth. The van's repulsor units were quite soft in handling with somewhat of a full load, but might as well have been empty for not lacking in robust thrust, with a gentle tug of acceleration of Kyle's skillful driving.
The group had reached the City limit exit. It was quite the imposing sight ahead even at 2 block down.
"Tetengo, you'd better crawl into the back. Careful- don't stand up, I said crawl. Kyle, keep driving normally or you'll give us away." Troy tersely ordered the youth and Kyle. It wasn't a request. The van couldn't slow down too fast or stop pre-maturely without looking suspicious.
Tetengo hesitated for a moment as he adjusted from sitting to hands an knees in the tight space, and hesitated, unsure. Miiri kindly assured Tetengo that Skye's rather quite gentle, a big softie. Skye said "Hi, " again, warmly as Tetengo crawled to the back. There was the choice of sitting on her lap, or between her legs, either way leaning his backside against her. "I won't mind, I don't think you'll be too heavy." Tetengo only had to glance at Troy to get moving and decide quickly - they were rapidly closing the distance. It was awkward, but Tetengo sighed as he settled in, and Skye made sure to pull her hood forward as far as it went to obscure her face. Her horns made it look like some peice of wrapped equipment than a humanoid head.
On each side of the multi-laned road, there was each an armored tollbooth / watch tower with spotlight and mounted e-web, and an AT-ST boarding plank of same height. An AT-ST was right next to it. Several Imperial issue speeder bikes were parked to the side, facing the road, ready for hot persuit. In leiu of typical toll booth crossing booms, there were a pair of magshield energy bar poles at 6m height, and a corresponding 'energy sheild' fence perimeter stretching into the distance, and a pair of fortress class generators in the distance to power the fence. The Moff was quite serious about the blockade and imposed martial law.
A bored looking officer stepped out of the booth, with a Storm Trooper escort, rifle in hand. Both visually inspecting the van and it's occupants as they approached, with a datapad in hand. "Papers, reason, and destination?" the officer asked crisply at the driver's side window.

Tatsu readied his gear again, saying a silent prayer over his weapons as he checked them and clambered into the back of the van...
Time of Day: Mid afternoon, ~4pm
Kyle and the group arrived near the bar. Parked in the back alley actually. They waited for a few minutes. The bar's back door opened.
[/B] |
|
Tatsu watched the large Zabrak, immediately sizing up her combat potential. Studded leather gloves: some kind of boxing, or other percussion-style fighting. He wouldn't want to receive a headbutt from a Zabrak either. Perhaps it was best that she was on their side.
The second; a Zeltron, looked less threatening but nevertheless he studied her well.
(OOC: Sense Motive to size the pair of 'em up)
As they climbed into the already cramped van Tatsu bowed his head to them; "Welcome aboard, ladies. I am," he hesitated to give his full name as he normally would; "Tatsu. Glad to have you with us."
---
As the pulled up at the checkpoint, Tatsu took deep breaths; firstly to calm himself and his heartrate...but also to oxygenate himself incase things went bad and they had to either drive away or bolt out the back of the van. He unconsciously looked over to Kiry.

After Kyle got into his coverall he checked the accessability of his holster as he entered the HoverVan. Unzipping the zipper right below the right trouser pocket his hand was able to reach his blaster pistol even though it took him few seconds. Not quite as fast as it used to be. Kyle thought and zipped the zipper back shut and started the engine.
Time of Day: Mid afternoon, ~4pm
Kyle and the group arrived near the bar. Parked in the back alley actually. They waited for a few minutes. The bar's back door opened. |
|
Kyle's field of vision was limited by the size of the rear driving monitor but he could clearly see the four humanoids approaching to the HoverVan. As all four drew nearer Kyle examined the two alien humanoids. The spicies of the two weren't alien to Kyle at all. One Zabrak female, muscular built and with more or less tramping pace. The other, clearly identifiyable as Zeltron, was smaller and more of a slight built. Oh, boy. I can't wait to see those two in action. I hope they keep themselves far away from most of the trouble. I don't want to play babysitter. At least not with the Zabrak. Kyle thought while smiling mildly.
After they travelt quite a while they finally drew nearer to one of the cities exit points. Kyle took a short look around to check if everything was in place. With an almost smiling face he opened the driver's window for the check point officer.
|
A bored looking officer stepped out of the booth, with a Storm Trooper escort, rifle in hand. Both visually inspecting the van and it's occupants as they approached, with a datapad in hand. "Papers, reason, and destination?" the officer asked crisply at the driver's side window. |
|
Looking straight into the officer's eyes Kyle's heart mad a jump. Why do I think this face looks quite familiar. Somewhere I've seen this face afore. While still puzzeling over the officer Kyle's hands move through the pockets of the coverall.
[Kyle] The papeRs... the papeRs... wheRe aRe the pa... NOW I know...
As Kyle turned backwards to Erron he view shortly went over the officers fierce face. Kyle could almost tell that the officer's view pointed on his back - as well as two or three guns - as he leaned back to Erron to get the papers. After three seconds of tension Kyle took a swift look upon the papers and turned back to the Imperial officer with the appropriate papers in hand and showed them to the officer.
[Kyle] As you can see we' aRe fRom GRalia City WateR WoRks. And we'Re assigned foR constRuction and maintainence woRk on the main wateR pipeline. The cooRdinates aRe on our peRmission.
Kyle spoke quick just as he had learned this text by hard, in a 'R'-rolling dialect. After a short pause Kyle added some more.
[Kyle] If I RemembeR coRRectly, Moff RemillaRd ... eh ... complained about the ... eh ... wateR quality. And now we pooR shmoes aRe here to ... eh ... fix the problem. Always they say 'Be quick! Be quick!'.
Kyle stopped after every other word to let it look like he was searching for the proper formulation in basic. After finishing the last sentence Kyle instantly hoped that this wasn't too much lying and disguise that it would alert the officers awareness.

With the mission at hand, Eronn air was changed to that of a very cool professionalism--this was, after all, his occupation (if one would pardon the pun).
The van had become, unfortunately, more full than Eronn had anticipated, though not necessarily suspiciously so, which was some consolation at least. Still, Eronn thought, it will be hard to load this thing up in a hurry. a situation that could be quite dire under the wrong circumstances.
"Here's the checkpoint," he said, unecessarily as the group came upon the exit point. "Alright Kyle, we shall do this nice and easily, I've placed the papers in my pocket, and I'll hand them to you once we are up there." he told the driver as he pulled up the the station.
As Kyle finessed the guards, Eronn dug around in his pocket to "find" the papers, then passed them to the driver.
|

|
Eronn laughed, his "mission nervousness" going off a bit-- Imperials either condecended or got annoyed by "strange". Hopefully they had the first, but the SpecOpser knew well enough to hedge their bet if they in fact had the second:
"That's a good one, boy-- I tell you guys, he may be a bit slow with the language sometimes-- Rimmer, you know-- but our driver here has a hell of a sense of humor!" Eronn said in a standard Core accent with a laugh, slapping Kyle on the shoulder heartily

"Huh... I'm not aware of any schedualed on my datasheet... Lemme look at those." The officer said dully...

The officer eyeballed the driver and passenger a few times inbetween examining the datasheet, looking almost as if he wasn't going to buy the ruse, or maybe he was wagering the odds in his head about calling in the security for any simple reason just to make himself look good for promotional material (and placed anywheres more valuable of his time and skills).
|
"That's a good one, boy-- I tell you guys, he may be a bit slow with the language sometimes-- Rimmer, you know-- but our driver here has a hell of a sense of humor!" Eronn said in a standard Core accent with a laugh, slapping Kyle on the shoulder heartily |
|
The officer snorted, "Well, at least he's human and not some alien." Looking at Kyle, "You are human riiiight?"
Giving the sheet one more glance, he shrugs and hands it back to Kyle, "Well, be sure to not to lose this sheet or you won't be allowed back in the city. You won't be sent away, but conveniantly detained for questioning..."
The officer and his two Stormie gaurds walked back to the armored booth post. A few moments later, the mag-shield fence de-activated to allow the van through... The fence was re-activated imediatly after.
The drive was pretty much uneventful, the road was devoid of any traffical. Athough the farther away from the city, the weather began to change. From a clear sunny afternoon to cloudy with overcast. But they had made it! They got past the Imperial city blockade point, and there was a certain feeling of freedom from the wide open space and total lack of Imperial presence.
Tetengo was glad to climb off from Skye's lap, though he did take up the remaining availble space opposite to facing Skye, back to the wall. There was enough foot & leg room for both.
Tetengo figited a bit, but then curiosity had gotten the best of him, as Skye had pulled back her hood fully, revealing her hair and crown of horns. Tetengo didn't get a whole lot of exposure to non-humans, aside from Troy the past couple days.
"So, like are those real?" Tetengo asked, "Uh, the horns I mean" he quickly added sheepishly
"Yeah. No different than your teeth or fingernails." Skye replied, not minding it at all. There wasn't a whole lot to do for the durration of the ride anyways. She asked in turn, "Havn't seen many Zabraks have you?"
"Nope, not really. Not many at school. What's your job?"
"Bouncer, security gaurd. Make sure nobody can come in and cause trouble for my boss. He owns and runs the club."
"Cool! Whats in the club? Are there like bands and singers?"
"Sometimes theres singers or bands, for entertainment as people order and eat food." Skye massaged her arms a bit, flexing them.
"Woa. So are all your kind strong like you?" Tetengo asked as he saw some of her meaty arm muscles.
Skye chuckled lightly, "No. Us zabrak species are alot like you humans, save for the horns and skin patching. I worked hard to get this way. See?" Skye rolled up both sleeves, and flexed both arms a few times with ease.
"Woa! So like you could beat the nerf outa anybody! You became strong just to be a bouncer?" Even Troy had to turn her head and look at the Zabrak's muscles for a moment. She seemed somewhat surprised, but mostly unreadable as if assessing, and further thinking about things.
"Well I don't beat the stuffing out of anyone. Just make sure they can't do any harm before the see the boss. no, I wasn't always a bouncer. I used to be a shock-boxer. Do you like shock-boxing?"
For the second time today, "Totally wizzard! Shock boxer?!? I love shock boxing and any sports.... Just don't get to watch much.... So Why arn't you a shock boxer anymore? No one won't fight you anymore?"
Skye's expression first lightened a bit at the boy's interest but then sighed and frowned for a moment, before replying. "Well, thats another story for another time."
Tetengo was still curious, asking away about shock boxing, and Skye avoided the questions best as possible or gave short answers. Skye redirected the conversation, asking Tetengo about other sports. And the discussion easily picked up again, happily talking players, teams, stats, games.
Mission site arrival: Devlin Valley, ~5pm.
40km and an hour later, the weather had continued to be overcast. As they had approached the winding valley, a layer of fog had formed, starting out lightly and growing in thickness and consistency, making for some lighter areas and some really thick as cream soup patches. With the van's headlights on full, Kyle had to reduce speed to see the highway underneath. The highway through the valley was paved, and banked a few feet above the ground level, making for mild ditches between the road and the sloped hillsides.
Making a rough guess, and checking the datapad for the map layout of the area, it was concluded they had reached the mission site. The fog was incredibly thick at this point, to only several meters visibility. Some spots were denser than others. Odd thing was the forecast had been slated for clear sunny weather. On the bright side, it still being late in the afternoon, it wasn't likely anyone would see a van approaching or anyone getting out.
OOC: OK guys & gals - this is mission 1. You've arrived at the area, just before the curve in the road. The van is still moving, and the fog wasn't planned for. How much does the fog affect the pre-made plans? It your job to take it from here and onwards!
OOC2: The website locations page page been updated with a new area map, with the fog.
OOC3: the OOC thread is avaible for planning and group discussion as well as the obvios option as p.m's for player to player and groupwide. I'll update the map and provide ingame situation updates as needed, and answer any Q's asked. But truly, this mission is now put into your capable and creative hands to tackle & proceed. Enjoy

Tatsu gently let out a breath he didn't realise he'd been holding as they passed through the energy field and out into the countryside.
As they drove he reminded everyone to check their equipment; readying their commlinks.
"Once we get closer to the compound, Green and Blue teams should break off and make their ways to their designated points cross-country," he then looked to Skye and Mirii; "as for our two newcomers: welcome to Green Team. We willll leave the van first and proceed round the hill to the south of the compound, heading for the valley, and encamp there."
He deliberately didn't detail Green Team or the Ops Team's deployment infront of Miiri or Skye. Just in case. Even if they were genuine, the less they knew about the others' locations, the better incase they were captured.
"Once each team is in place, we should notify the other teams, but keep communications short. Set up what surveillance equipment we have, do what exploring we need. Every hour we check in with the Ops team. Remember that this is going to be a day and night observation, so make sure that someone is always on guard and if possible someone else should be getting some sleep."
He took a deep breath; "If you have contact with hostiles, evasion is the priority," he explained, hoping all the military-vocabulary he'd learned from Rook was correct; "If you get into a hard contact, defend yourselves and again attempt to escape. Get back to the city but take a circuitous route, do not go directly. Notify the other teams as soon as possible, particularly if their positions are also in danger of being compromised."
As he was speaking, the van made it's way to the fog.
Wonderful. Another complication.
"After a day...of with this fog, two days or so of observation we formulate a firm plan to gain entry, based on the plan already discussed," he said, looking directly at Troy and Adrame with Jade's poison-datacard.
"Kyle, I think this is our stop."
Once the van came to a full halt Tatsu quietly opened the rear doors and slunk out, eyes and ears open and adjusting to the new environment.
He then looked back into the van; "Okay Green Team, here we go. To the rest of you; the best of luck."
Taking his backpack and gear he darted in a low crouch toward the treeline.

Once the team left Bouncies, and Skye began talking sports with her son Kiry-The-Mom could relax. She had been so embarassed at the comments Tetengo had made at his first glimpse of the 2 women. And then asking the Zabrak woman straight out about her horns! But Skye had replied in such a way that it was clear she was used to it. And that made Kiry Noor feel a little guilty as she realized that part of the reason was the Imperial culture, the attitdue that aliens were second-calss at best & "Real People" -- the humans -- should't get too close to them. So humans ponited at lekku and asked if horns were real while hardly noticing the myraid skin hues and hair textures of other humans.
But as her son abandoned impertinent questions in favor of regaling Skye with his grav-ball talents, Kiry relaxed and tried to enjoy the ride, just sitting close to Tatsu. She was drowsing on his shoulder for much of the trip, rousing only at the checkpoint and again when Tatsu asked for commlink checks.
As Tatsu prepared to leave, she grabbed his hand and pulled him back for a good-bye kiss.
As the van began moving again, she asked, "How are we going to set up camp in this fog?" She sounded a bit lost, no surprise, since she'd never done any mission like this.

Eronn laughed conspiritorially-- "Quite right!" he added cheerfully, keeping his end of the conversation within normal boundries. Still, the nervousness only receeded once the group had recieved their papers and were waved along out of the city.
The ride was tense for the SpecOpser-- he shuddered reflexively at the mention of Skye's **ahem** professional abilities and was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the weather; a variable that had apparently decided to swing against them. Typical... he thought bitterly.
Once it became time to heel-toe it, however, Eronn's professional attitude won out, and he became comparatively more calm and focused.
Nodding approvingly at Tatsu's rundown, Eronn hefted his high-explosive bundle and gently sat it down on the road.
"Well put; I would like to add that, as we have these rather nifty infared goggles, moving or being comparitively more active at night is the preferred option, as we would be in danger of even the most mundane of observation methods under more normal conditions-- thankfully, at least in this respect, we have the fog working for us today where we require such movement. Naturally we should attempt to maintain as low a profile as possible.the entire way, but we should absolutely be prepared to scuttle this shindig if particularly undesirable circumstances arise. Other than that, I have only one other request:
"Skye-- if you wouldn't mind carrying some of this parcel, I would be eternally greatful if you would assist me..." he asked politely; one way or the other, these bombs needed to be moved to the target site, and Eronn, while reasonably strong and accustomed to long excursions, was not entirely up to hauling all of the explosives the whole way.

[Imperial Officer] Well, at least he's human and not some alien. You are human riiiight?
[Erron] Quite right! |
|
Kyle didn't blink. He was staring at the Imperial Officer and his public dishonor of alien - or better - non-humans.
After they left the city's exit point Kyle turned towards Erron with no more than a contemtuous expression upon his face. His eyes shifted from Erron's face to the rear-view mirror while speaking.
[Kyle] I hate those so called "officers". This obvious and public anti-alienism sickens me. I think besides the omnipresent obligations, the propaganda against non-humans is the worst.
While the hover-van paced even further towards their destination Kyle had to slow down due to the intense fog. While viewing the road his view continuesly shifted from the rear-view mirror to the map of the area. Approching the first drop point he listened to the conversations behind him.

[Erron] I would like to add that, as we have these rather nifty infared goggles, moving or being comparitively more active at night is the preferred option, as we would be in danger of even the most mundane of observation methods under more normal conditions-- thankfully, at least in this respect, we have the fog working for us today where we require such movement. Naturally we should attempt to maintain as low a profile as possible.the entire way, but we should absolutely be prepared to scuttle this shindig if particularly undesirable circumstances arise. |
|
Slightly scratching his chin Kyle turned his head towards Erron to comment his statement.
[Kyle] Well, the fog may cover our arrival. But it also will cover the enemy's position. I'm not quite sure if we have good observation points with the fog surrounding us and limiting our view. Maybe we have to draw the observation point even nearer to the the enemy facilities. Or at least we have to send a scout for close observation.
After his comment his mind focused back on the street and the fog.

Update: 01 |

"After a day...of with this fog, two days or so of observation we formulate a firm plan to gain entry, based on the plan already discussed," he said, looking directly at Troy and Adrame with Jade's poison-datacard. |
|
"Sounds reasonable. I like it better than some idiot in command at the other end of the comlink who has no idea of the situation at hand.
|
"Skye-- if you wouldn't mind carrying some of this parcel, I would be eternally greatful if you would assist me..." |
|
"Sure, I can help with that. Anything else, just ask." Skye replied, happy to be of use for Erron rather than an added 'fith repulsor' to the group.
Exiting the van, in all its crampedness, Green and Blue teams geared up, and Skye picked up Erron's extra homemade gear.
Time of Day: ~5:10pm
Blue team set off for a short hike and a fair climb, while Green started on their small hike. Kyle gently drove the van off-road, and expertly maneuvered the slope uphill to Violet Ops point. Slopes and Repulsors usually didn't mix too well for lack of friction, but the Van's large thrusters were up to the task. Compared to piloting starfighters, this was a peice of Ryshcake. And within a few minutes, Violet team arrived at their checkpoint, and ready to setup a sort of 'base of operations'. And despite the fog, at this elevation, they had a decent view of the facility and yard.....
Time of Day: ~5:40pm
Half hour later, both Green and Blue Teams reaced their designated spots. Finally, Blue team had a decent surveilance view of the Facility and yard. Troy wasted no time in digging out and setting up her rifle.
For Green team, the hike was un-eventful, thankfully. The walk through the fog would've been lousy and easy to get lost, but the most they had to worry about was not trip over any of the foilage. Keeping the road to their side, they reached the waterfront as planned. The waterfront was clear of any surprises. The bridge - as best as you could see, was clear. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Slowly moving through the woods Tatsu lead the party of four. He was careful to make as little sound as possible, pushing foliage aside and stepping gently so as to leave no sign. Once out of sight of the road he stopped Green team and they all took their coveralls off revealing their own better-suited-to-the wilderness clothes underneath. Two got changed while the other two remained alert.
Proceeding on toward the valley and the river Tatsu tried not to let the fog irritate him; even without it visibility wouldn't be great due to the foliage around. His ears would serve him better. Ever so often he stopped Green and just listened, mouth open to cut down on internal sounds. He could hear the river ahead...and the faint whine of the repulsor truck off to his left.
As they neared the river he stopped them well back from the edge of cover. He got down on his hands and knees and crawled slowly forward. These things couldn't be rushed. For all he knew the Imperials might have the riverbank lined with sensors, there could be a stormtrooper patrol moving up and down the valley, their repulsors drowned out by the sound of the river, there could even be a family of locals out fishing. Not likely in this weather though.
Slowly edging forward he got under a bush at the edge of the river.
All clear.
Through the fog he could just make out the bridge spanning the valley he was now at the bottom of. The river ran infront of him. It looked cool and clear; drinking water wouldn't be a problem.
He took the opportunity to smear some of the wet mud from the riverbank on his face, neck and arms. Unlike in the holos you didn't have to cake yourself, just enough to darken the skin, cut down on shine and reflection. Shape, shine, shadow, sound, silouette and movement.
Satisfied, he crawled back to the others.
"All clear. I can see the bridge a bit through the fog. Eronn, perhaps later...tonight...you might wish to venture forth and examine the structure's integrity?" he suggested with a twinkle in his eye. "I suggest we set up camp here; away from the river's edge. Get the ponchos and camo netting up. Maybe get something to eat. It is best to do so when there is a lull. If some of us can sleep too. Meanwhile one of us should stay hidden, in shifts, nearer the edge to observe."

While shuddering in the moist air Seth helped unload the necessary equipment from the truck.
While getting some netting from the truck he turned to Kyle:
"Who is by the way in command of this team? You? Just to be sure... since I don't have experience at all with this kind of missions, If you see some panicked look cross my face, I'll be in some serious need of leadership...how are we going to proceed from here?"

"Perhaps later indeed..." Eronn muttered, dropping his pack in the dirt, then kneeling and removing the required camp elements.
"Do you want to stand watch, or should I? I suppose you're pretty decked out for hiding and watching, though you've been doing all day so far, so if you want a break I'll head down." Eronn replied to Tatsu, shrugging.

Violet team ~5:20 / 1720: Kiry |
Once out of the van, Kiry shivered in the damp fog. The weather conditions, on top of no longer having Tatsu there, made her feel very uneasy. Queasy, in fact. She pulled herself together. She was a trained professional, officer as well as physician, and knew how to put things aside and do her job -- as long as she wasn't being forced to do something wrong. And she was doing right these last few days, for the first time in a long time.
So down to business. The sooner they started observing, the better. But they also needed to pitch camp. She turned to the men and her son. "Okay, let's get set up. How about one of us takes the binocs and starts looking, while the rest of us get the tents up? Kyle, Seth, Jaedo which of you is doing first shift?"
"Can't I observe, huh, Mom?" Tetengo asked eagerly.
"Yes, after camp is set up. Didn't you granddad insist on doing that first? Once it's done, you can go on that shift learn. I'm going to have to learn how too, on the next shift. And, uh, how many shifts are we doing?" She asks this of the men, clearly aware of what needs to be done, but not at all sure of how it should be done.
After, as she begins to help set up tents and gear, Kiry adds. "I guess we need to have a guard? So we don't get surprised?"
